Notice how God didn't say 'I will stop the rain from coming for 7 days' or some small punishment like that. People died. It was violent and bloody.

So many Christians are living according to the world that they are offended by scripture.

When you see a man exercise authority over a woman, which is biblical, you are offended.

But when God does get angry at His people, He corrects them using unbearable punishments.

People even during Lord Jesus' time were living biblical lives, correcting children and disobedient wives.

The thought of hitting a child seems absurd these days, because it is the world view.

God's scripture says it's better to beat a child to correct them and drive the foolishness out of them so that they don't grow up and bring shame and calamity on their family and people. That's the point, people would rather choose bruises than death if they had knowledge of the 2 options.

Nobody is advocating abuse, it seems people are misinterpreting beating to mean being cruel and abusive.
