I am back, just needed to collect my thoughts in prayer. The issues in BDF, has been going on for a long time. I think the only thing that can be done, is to just start a post in another forum. I will go into BDF, when a new subject arises, to see what it is saying...and if it starts getting heated, than leave the discussion. I could not leave CC completely, I yearn for my brothers and sister.

Im hearing a lot of discouragement from brothers and sisters about the BDF and the hateful nonsense that goes on there. People are wanting to leave CC because of the issues there. Its been often said that mods are volunteers and are unable to keep up with the issues in the BDF. Is it not possible to give authority to some long standing, trusted members here? I know there are people who have been here many, many years and are trusted members. It may a stupid idea but we really need to come up with something. Things are getting way too out of hand and no one seems to feel we can get a mod when needed. Something has to be done or the best of CC will be gone.
Actually the BDF isn't that way because the mods can't handle it. It's left the way it is by Robo.

1. We probably need WAY more mods than we do now in the BDF.

2. Perhaps certain topics should be banned from being discussed there.

3. Blow up that toxic nuclear wasteland with land mines.

Nothing to be done. Engaging in the BDF and it's conversations* is a choice. Choose to not go in there.

It's not easy sometimes, and it's all too familiar to fire back when someone antagonizes you or says something you feel needs to be corrected but take it from me - We trolls intentionally antagonize people. Don't feed them. Even if someone will not admit to being a troll, some folks engage in troll-like behavior. Don't engage. Let them eat silence. Handle them like you would a bratty 3-year old girl.
What about bratty 41 year olds?

I'd like to know when argument became a bad thing?

For me arguments, I can go to blood family, or with those that hate God. It is my lack of understanding, when I thought I would find more peace here. Plus, I am one that believes if something needs to be discussed, it can be done without name calling.

What does "name calling" have to do with argument?

Argument is a basic form of communication, to pass ideas to the audience, to pursuade others to come to a consensus.

Most every student who attends college must complete courses in argument.

I don't have a problem with name calling. It sort of adds to the debate. In fact, I wish that name calling was more acceptable.

I really would like to be name calling at times. LOL.

Ok here is my two cents . ( not sure it's even worth that )
BDF is the closest thing I have seen to a theological mosh pit. Not so much a bad thing ,but it can be rough.
Lots of bumping ,pushing and shoving its close quarters theology. It may not be for everyone. Folks jump in
with their ideas and beliefs. Then others join in support or opposition. This mixing it up can get heated but it can bring out certain raw honest opinions from folks you won't get otherwise.I learn a lot from my visits. I don't agree with most folks there I do learn somethings from them .
My suggestion is if the staff here desires to change something it is to make a forum where the rough stuff is not tolerated.

Blessings
Bill

It just upsets me, abused most of my life, so I get flashbacks of horrific times. If others want to do it, who am I to stop them, I'm not God. Just something I prefer to live without! I have discussions all the time, with those that see things differently, and no name calling is done. I just march to a different beat!

What? What do you mean?

Isn't that what she said???

~

This is just an illustration of the kind of "reasoning" that is sometimes used in the BDF.

:p

( I couldn't resist. )

An argument becomes a bad thing when a person speaks their mind once or twice and will not drop it and continue pushing buttons out of pure enjoyment

Which makes for a very good question --- why do some people seem to be more interested in pushing buttons rather than simply having an interesting-and-informative on-going discussion about whatever-the-topic-is...???

( Silly question - right? => answer: "human nature" )
