The Sabbath rest spoken of in Hebrews chapter 4 has nothing to do with a day (Saturday) but everything to do with comparing the rest of the Mosaic Covenant (Canaan) with the rest of the New Covenant (Jesus Christ).

Actually I do know both Testaments...
And I know that there is no such thing as the distinction between the "law of God" and the "law of Moses."
It is a fabrication to try and get around the very clear directions from Paul that the law is set aside and NOT binding on New Covenant believers.
So, according to your fiction the so-called law of Moses is what is set aside but the so-called law of God is eternally binding.
And the law of God, by your fiction, is the ten commandments, and so, the Sabbath is still binding.

I know all the Scriptures you will use to support this false argument and how you will interpret them.

Your ridiculous interpretation of Hebrews chapter 4 is just another example of this faulty interpretation because you are forced to see Saturday in everything even when the context makes it very clear that the rest that remains for the people of God (Heb 4:9) is not a day but a person - Jesus Christ (Heb 4:10).

Nor did I refer to it as Sunday other than the day we celebrate it today. it was Saturday biblically as to when they, then, celebrated it..but that is besides the point I was mentioning. But may I ask those in the denominations, "Why do you observe Sunday this way? Why should believers not buy and sell on Sunday, and why should they not do what they do on the other weekdays?" The church life is wonderful as far as the seed goes, but we have not yet reached the harvest. There is a Sabbath for God in the church life today, but this Sabbath is not yet complete, perfect, or mature.

Hence, there will be another stage of the Sabbath—the age of harvest at the time when the Lord Jesus comes back. When the Lord Jesus comes the second time, that will be the age of the harvest. It is wonderful to see the field growing, but this could never be as wonderful as the harvest.

Undoubtedly, there is a real Sabbath for God in the church life because God has sown Himself as the seed into the field and the field is now growing. Nevertheless, we must remember that we are still not in the harvest. Will you be ripe when the harvest time comes? If you inquire of farmers, they will tell you that some of the crop is not ripe at the harvest time.

Today’s Sabbath in the church life is a real Sabbath, but it is not a Sabbath with perfection or maturity. That Sabbath will be in the next age. In 1 Corinthians 3 we see the field growing, and in Revelation 14 we see the harvest being reaped.

I cannot find any commandment in the Bible that says we should "observe" Sunday! Please do not misunderstand by thinking that we should observe Saturday; there is no such thing either. I have not found any passage in the Bible that says that Christians should observe Saturday! What does this mean? The Sabbath day (that is, Saturday) belongs to the law. But we, the Gentiles, are not under the law:

1). Before we believed in the Lord, we were "Gentiles, who have no law" (Rom. 2:14).

2). After we believed in the Lord, the apostle said that "you are not under the law" (6:14). However, "whatever things the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law" (3:19).

If those brothers who insist that we observe the Sabbath cannot prove to us that the Sabbath is not of the law, they cannot ask us to keep it. The more they say that the Sabbath is important for the reason that it is a crucial commandment of the law, the more it means that we should not keep it! But there are those who commit the same mistake as the zealous Sabbath-keepers; they are the Sunday-observers (actually the Lord's Day-observers):

1). They think that because the apostles met on this day, we should therefore "observe" this day. But, why did the apostles only gather on this day, whereas these ones would change it to mean they have to observe this day?

2). They think that after the Lord Jesus died, under the New Testament, the Sabbath is changed from Saturday to Sunday. But where does the Bible say this?

3). They think that the Lord's Day is the "Christian Sabbath." In many denominations the Ten Commandments are still held high, and the members are exhorted to keep the Sabbath faithfully. This next section however is full of assumptions and mistakes assuming that "in the age of grace there is no more need to keep the Sabbath" This has no basis in scripture whatsoever. In fact there is not one verse in the entire bible that says we no longer need to keep God's 4th commandment holy. It is part of God's forever Law, the work of God, written and spoken by God himself to His people and is the foundation of the Old and the New Covenants. Jesus is our example and he kept the Sabbath. The Apostles also kept the Sabbath. Jesus is Lords of the Sabbath (Matt 12:8; Mark 2:27-28) So right there Sunday cannot be the Lord's Day. Jesus himself says the 7th Day Sabbath is the Lord's day. So you can cross out the above section. The section above does not make much sense when compared to the 1st section as one cancels out the other. Sunday worship as highlighted in your first section is a man made tradition. We must follow the Word of God over the traditions of men. (Matt 15:3-14). The 7th Day Sabbath is a commandment of God and if we love Jesus we will follow Him.

This next section above is just someones opinion that has no basis in God's Word. God set apart the 7th Day of the Weeks from all the other days as a holy day and commands His people everywhere to keep it Holy. The other 6 days of the week we can do what we like.

We don't follow all the rules and regulations today like the Jews and Pharisees did in Jesus time. Jesus came to teach us how to keep the Sabbath. Are you able to answer my questions now?

Do you know what a High Sabbath is? (John 19:31) What is an annual Sabbaths that is connected to feast days that do not even fall on the 7th Day of the week (Lev 23)?

Did you know all of the above are not referring to God's 4th commandment (Ex 20:8-11) but are connected to annual feast days?

Did you know that these annual Sabbaths are also connected with New Moons, meat and drink offering and holy days? Funny how they all seem to fit so well with Col 2 in the new testament is talking about don't you think?

Please tell me where in the bible does it say that Jesus is our Sabbath?

Where does it say in the Bible we not longer need to keep God's 7th Day Sabbath a holy day?

IN the Old Testament. Keeping the Sabbath was crucial. You were stoned to death if you broke it. It was said over and over and over and over again to "Keep the Sabbath". People were killed because they broke it. Anyone who has read the Old Testament can clearly and plainly see, how important it was to keep the Commandment "Keep the Sabbath Day Holy to the Lord" And because this was so important of a commandment Jesus told Christians to keep the Sabbath Day Holy how many times? NONE. really? Oh than it must have been instructed by the Apostles. So how many Apostles instructed us Christians to continue to keep the Sabbath Day Holy? NONE. really? Jesus nor any Apostle ever instructed us to keep the Sabbath.

Look at the answer of Jesus Christ Himself when a man asking Jesus what he must do to be Saved. Jesus could not say "Believe I am the Son of God, and that I died for you, and rose from the dead" That is what it takes to be SAVED under the New Covenant, which has not yet started until Jesus is resurrected. So when the man asked Jesus (While Jesus was yet alive and walking among them living under the old covenant (the Laws of Moses)) What must I do to be Saved. Listen to Jesus response:

Mat 19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
Mat 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
Mat 19:18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
Mat 19:19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Mat 19:20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?

Did you catch that? When the man asked "Which commandments do I keep to have eternal life" Jesus did not say "All of them" He gave a particular list of which ones, did you notice "Keep the Sabbath" is not one that he mentions, why is that? Did He forget to mention that particular Commandment which was the MOST important one of the Old Testament? Or did He knowingly and purposefully withheld that particular Commandment?

Man "Which ones"
Jesus tells the man which Commandments the man must do to have Eternal Life, and not one of those things listed was to continue to keep the Sabbath Holy. Jesus knew exactly what He was saying when He said it. He knew exactly what He said was going to be read for thousands of years, He left out the Sabbath Keeping because that is what He chose to do, else do you think now He FORGOT to mention that particular commandment?

Here is a fact. Jesus does not instruct us Christians to continue to keep the Sabbath. NONE of the Apostle in any of their letters to Christians were instructed to continue to keep the Sabbath, NOT one. So then where is this doctrine coming from, that Christians are to continue to keep the Sabbath, when Jesus nor any Apostle ever instructed us to do so?

i have kept the Sabbath for over 10 years, because that is something that i merely choose to do, NOT that i have to do so, not that i am commanded to do so, NOT that it is one of the 10 commandments. i choose to keep it, because it is something that i want to do, NOT something that i must do, or am required to do.

Simple - evangelism!
How else was he to get a big group of Jews together at one place and one time?
Easy - go the synagogue on the Sabbath!

All these verses do is build the case that Paul had a good plan to reach Jews and "God-fearers" (Gentiles who liked many aspects of Judaism but were not prepared to be circumcised).
That was Paul's custom - his evangelistic custom!
If this is presented as a case for a New Covenant believer being obliged to be a Sabbath-keeper then it falls awfully flat...

Seems like you are running into all sorts of problems when you hold onto beliefs that follow man made traditions. Ariel will not answer my questions maybe you can?

1. Do you know what a High Sabbath is? (John 19:31)

2. What is an annual Sabbaths that is connected to feast days that do not even fall on the 7th Day of the week (Lev 23)?

3. Did you know all of the above are not referring to God's 4th commandment (Ex 20:8-11) but are connected to annual feast days?

4. Did you know that these annual Sabbaths are also connected with New Moons, meat and drink offering and holy days? Funny how they all seem to fit so well with Col 2 in the new testament is talking about don't you think?

5. Where in the bible does it say that Jesus is our Sabbath?

6. Where does it say in the Bible we not longer need to keep God's 7th Day Sabbath a holy day?

If you cant answer these questions why don't you believe God's Word and why do you follow the traditions of man over the commandments of God? Something to think about.

That is actually a good point... One day Jesus will say to many "Depart from my ye who work iniquity... I never knew you." (Matt 7:23) These people that Jesus did not know were sinning or disobeying God.

Part of the New Covenant is that ....

Not only will God write His Laws in the hearts and minds of His people so they can love him and their fellow man and follow God, they will all know him from the least of them to the greatest of them (Heb 8:10-12)

There is only a small amount of time to do this and the I am amazed at how well all these scriptures fit with the above ones in relation to the New Covenant promises....

"Seek ye the Lord while He may be found (today if you hear His voice harden not your heart there will be a time when you will not find him..) call ye upon him while he is near; Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon." (Isa 55:6-7)

Then the promise is......

And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. (Jer 29:13)

So what do the three sets of scriptures tell us above?

- Those that are lost do not know God and do not obey him (sin/iniquity Matt 7:23)

- We cannot find God unless with an honest heart we seek him with all our heart through His Word (because he is the Word) (Isa 55:6-7; John 1:1-3)

- When we seek him with all our heart and have faith in His Word he promises to spend time with us and get to know us, change us so that we can love him. Once we love him we can follow him (Jer 29:13; Heb 8:10-12)

Gods Word is Gods power unto salvation to everyone who believes. This is where you will find Jesus and you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. We follow Jesus because we love him

Thanks again for your post. Love the scriptures you sent. They are in harmony with everything I believe in. I believe God's Word, how about you? The thing is I do not have any problems with the scriptures you send me. You are only having problems with the scriptures I send you. This is because of the interpretation you have on what the Word of God says. The Old Testament is in Harmony with the New. They witness to each other. If you have nothing else to add maybe you need to read your bible further to see why certain scriptures in the Word of God seem to be against what you believe.

O dearly loved of Messiah you must know. I do not hide nor am I ashamed to confess that I guard Sabbath in my heart, keep it when I can, even though I don't practice perfect every Sabbath, it is still a perfect Sabbath day in my Master. You who says, "you have made the law your Master!" does your exclamation come because you are worried about my soul? If so why do you distance yourself further from my words. They are my words unless I'm quoting my Master or scriptures.

It was said, "never ever has been taught Sabbath by the Apostles in NT".

I could give more examples of when Sabbath day was taught on, as is the traditional way to celebrate the Sabbath day together. You see THEY even the Greeks among them had no need to be taught Sabbath because they were already keeping it.

We are in need of the word on Sabbath. In fact we could all use the first day as well to hear that word. If I appear to be under the law it is for the benefit of the synagogue. If you want to meet I have no problem with that in order to show I'm just as messed up as any of you. I however serve a Holy God and as such He deserves to be treated with respect, Honor, and Love. And I hope you have love in your Hearts to Honor the Father in Heaven as it is Messiah who would have brought you close enough to have such an eternal and glorious honor to Love the creator of Heaven and Earth and know Them better. As for being under the law or not I confess Messiah and such awesome subject as the Torah you want me to make? Why would I cast pearls before this lot? Here more NT scripture study won't help unless you understand the literal meaning of the whole Instruction of God. Yes the Law is meant to point to Messiah.
