1. What's falderal?

2. I could handle myself. I know how to make enemies when I'm forced to.

BUT, I must say that name-calling is really bad for several reasons:

1. It's a very bad example to new Christians. What must they think of a person calling himself a Christian and then calling those that don't agree with him names... It's a bit childish.

2. It comes off as being not only offensive, but very mean. So many who would like to post, don't becaue they feel intimidated. Something I , of course, know nothing about.

3. The persons who are intimidating think they're on CC to share their experience of God and to show how some may be wrong in their doctrine that they feel is important and has something to do with saving souls.

What they're really doing is TURNING PERSONS OFF to sharing about God.

My two cents...

Well said!

I think he posted that to stop somebody from saying anything towards him. Judging from the "likes", it worked.
Tried.
Can't give Depleted a rep...
Much deserved...

I don't know Tommy.

If the girl is telling you she can't cook....

I would tend to listen to her!

You know the old joke:

husband: What are you making for dinner?
Wife: Reservations.
"Reservations" is the best meal I can put on the table.

Ha! Hadn't heard folderol used in a sentence in a dogs age. Or is it falderal? Either way spell check is insisting its wrong. Good word though.

I can't wait to get a chance to say that word out loud IRL.

The question was posed to me why it's allowed. According to mods the site, in its 15+ years, has tried different levels of restriction. Too lose and people run rampant. Too tight and people feel censored. So this is considered the "in between". Giving freedom without going wild. Now there's something to think about. What we see now is not the worst it's ever been.

My Personal opinion is another reason it's kept the way it is is simply because it generates traffic. It is, easily, the most active section of forums on the entire site. Pulling back freedoms slows down the activity. Perhaps loses active users. Most ministries are also businesses. Since part of Robos income is through this site he's going to make standards to suit that, vs a site where the owner doesn't rely on the money.

So what DOES make me a weirdo? Since you already think I'm a fruit loop.. lol..

Tell the truth now. ;)
You know we can't do that, cause you said you don't like reading posts with dozens of paragraphs, LOL!

I think that runs the risk of people ganging up to dislike one person's posts out of a wolfpack mentality. (Kind of like what subtly happens with the like button option. If you look at certain threads, you'll see what I'm talking about...)
Yeah? But then again, then you see who does or doesn't, and figure out if it is or isn't wolf pack. Because we do see what you're talking about.

What I find interesting is that I typically fall in with one team or another (I mean we all do), but if I step in on a thread later in the game, I don't really understand what they are arguing about because they are neck-deep on a particular.

A particular that is so minute, I suspect most members of each team wouldn't go to bat for it as individuals, but because they're at the bottom of the seventh, they'll keep playing.

If you step in not knowing the names, you would be utterly lost as to what is going on, because the argument bears so little resemblance to the original post. This is why courts, formalized debates, and public meetings have discussion parameters.

Really if there is anything I find vexing about the BDF, it's that. People getting a little mean or immature is to be expected even among the elect, unhappily. But I would be more likely to participate if things stayed on topic and didn't mutate after page one or two.
Robert's Book of Order for CC? That would be fun, wouldn't it?

Won't stop people. People are arguing because Person A wants Person B to see how "wrong" they are. Something a dislike button can't do.
And a dislike button would be abused severely and create More work for mods.

Simple reason, as I said before, is the way the BDF is is because Robo and mods have decided this is the best balance. It's not my guess, it's their own words. So as long as the ones running things find most of it acceptable more them adding more mods won't do a thing. Nor will long threads. This has been brought up multiple times before and the answer has always been the same... "we're not changing it".
How does dislike effect their work levels? I mean, I'm guessing likes don't effect them, so how would dislikes? Not like X numbers of dislikes = 1 report.

I don't even think of dislike as "I dislike you." I think it's more of a "this is really a bad idea/asinine/makes little to no sense/is somewhat or completely wrong/you've gone off the deep end. Frankly, if we could dislike our own posts, I could see myself doing that. And I don't want to report myself. I just dislike some boneheaded moves I've made.

And, yeah. I see where it would be abused, (although hard for me to imagine it being more abused than what is already happening on this site), and I know it's not going to happen because that's already been decided, but I don't see it as more work either.

Why do you (any of you) care whether or not someone else understands inconsequential Scripture "correctly?"
Why do you think there are inconsequential scriptures?

I'll give you less important, more important, and "I'll never get it in the lifetime," but I don't get "inconsequential." If scripture is inspired by God, it is all consequential.

IMO, The height of the heated discussion should be lowered regardless of topic or doctrine.

It should be more about how people are treated instead of the subject under discussion.

It should not be as if certain people have leased a forum & have special privileges.

For example, a wolf pack mentality is easily spotted, & should be put down immediately no matter who's doing it.

I agree with Ugly's post..... it's left up to the owner. I was also told it was the owner's decision, & not the lack of mods.

I disagree with "not enuff mods" because they have the software capability for one mod to search every discussion in every forum.

While this site is an income for the owner, This IS a christian website. Shouldn't God & His Word dictate what happens, since it's HIS blessing that increases the income of the owner regardless?

Run ANY business by God's standard, & God will honor & bless it. Every baby christian knows that.

It's like the old song says..... "I found I can't go wrong when I'm doing it by the Book".

well...

i agree with you to a point lynn

but ...

when there is so much work to be done

if me and you get into debate over how a "year" is different now in America than it was when/where Genesis was first written

and we waste time arguing over exactly how old seth was when he passed....

that seems somewhat inconsequential

in comparison to Jesus

wouldnt you say?

(sorry
lol me debating even this may be a waste of time... i love ya lynn and doooo agree with your point as well as willys point... just words could have been chosen differently)
