hmmmm
(for on lookers convenience)
Matthew 13:20-21
20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;
21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.
the seed is the truth
but wouldnt his DEAD faith mean he NEVER accepted the sacrifice?
John 6:37 - All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
John 10:28 - And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any [man] pluck them out of my hand.
I don't disagree with anything you've posted.
Let's go through the verses:
Mathew 13:20-21
This is JESUS speaking...
verse 20
The person HEARS the word. In Jesus' time HEAR meanto to hear with the heart, to accept with the mind and heart.
He accepts it with JOY. This means that the hearer understood the message. We all had joy when we got to know Jesus.
So he HEARD WITH JOY. This sounds to me like the person BELIEVED in what he heard.
verse 21
"He dureth for a while" Jesus is saying that the believer believed FOR A WHILE.
My NASB says that it was ONLY TEMPORARY.
So, it would seem, according to Jesus' words, that the hearer understood, accepted with joy, and believed, BUT ONLY FOR A WHILE.
Which means that it IS possible to believe FOR ONLY A WHILE. (for many different reasons, in this case persecution).
Dead faith in the bible is referring to a BELIEVER that has DEAD FAITH.
Everyone else definitely has dead faith because they have NO FAITH.
Dead Faith in a believer, according to James, is someone who does no works but says he has faith.
James 2:14
James 2:17
James 2:20
John 6:37
The Father calls ALL to go to Christ.
Romans 2:19-20 God Father has made Himself be known and has given His only Son. John 3:16 that WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH in Jesus should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Whosoever BELIEVES. Present tense. You must believe at the time of Death.
FAITH AND BELIEF = SALVATION
No FAITH No BELIEF = NO SALVATION (just like those atheists that do not believe)
Jesus will NEVER cast out anyone who wants to remain in Him.
Definition of cast out
transitive verb
: to drive out : expel
John 10:28
No MAN OR SPIRIT BEING will EVER pluck us out of the hand of God.
But where does it say we cannot walk out?
Can we walk out of our own free will or not?
Do we lose our free will when we become saved?
This is an important question to ask ourselves.
If we are FORCED BY GOD TO REMAIN SAVED, even if we WANT TO LEAVE, then we have to believe we've lost our free will.
If we have free will, then we have it forever. So if I WANT to leave God, I should have the free will to do exactly this.
God made us in His image.
Free Will is one of the attributes He gave us.
I'd like to say that those who do not adhere to OSAS, do not say the above to scare anyone, but to bring to their attention that is IS POSSIBLE to lose salvation. IT IS NOT EASY.
Those who know and love God will tend to stay with Him their Whole life.
But, we cannot say that it is IMPOSSIBLE to lose salvation. I'm sure we all know persons who have had this experience.
I don't sit around worrying about it all the time.
Posters here tell me I must not have joy because of this.
I have the same joy they have AND MORE.
Because I know it's UP TO ME to remain in our Lord...
I don't have to hear from someone someday say. She never believed to begin with.
Now THAT is insecurity !
