I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

I find it rather unfortunate that you do not believe the Word of God.

If I can list 5,000 verses about Works, and you STILL do not believe they are necessary, it means you DO NOT BELIEVE the Word which God has given to us.

So, I won't waste my time on this since I've written plenty for those reading along,

I'll only say this:

WORKS DO NOT SAVE.

BUT

WORKS KEEP US SAVED.

You entered the Kingdom?
You want to remain in the Kingdom?
You better do the works of the Kingdom.

Not me saying this.
JESUS said it. But you don't believe Him.

And I will say once more.....PAUL, who was INSPIRED, and YOU are not by the way.....said.....FAITH PLUS WORKS to finish SALVATION is false, double cursed, has no power and only FOOLS and BEWITCED believe such a lie......

The truth is quite the opposite...YOU do not believe the truth, but rather devalue the sacrifice, works and saving grace of Christ by INTERJECTING your self and your own works....

The MAIN characteristic of ALL those who are in the plenteous in number that gets casts from the presence of JESUS is two fold....

a. THEY claim to know JESUS
b. THEY boast of and push their works as the means of salvation/entry into the kingdom

You would think that the last two "a and b" would open your eyes......................

You see Dcon.

What you state above is true.

NO AMOUNT OF WORK CAN SAVE US.

Any work we do BEFORE we know God is self-righeous works --- trying to get saved by our own effort.

We are SAVED by God's GRACE, MERCY AND JESUS' SACRIFICE, and OUR FAITH in JESUS.

What you don't seem to understand is that there are TWO STEPS to being saved ETERNALLY.

GETTING SAVED.
STAYING SAVED.

You think you don't have to STAY SAVED?

You think you could steal and lie and dishonor your parents, and STILL BE SAVED?

I know you don't believe this because you've said so.

SO... This means that you understand that you must STAY SAVED.
You stay saved by doing GOOD WORKS.

Why do you fight this so???

You do NOT STAY SAVED no matter what.
You MUST ABIDE in Christ.

IF YOU'RE ABIDING IN CHRIST, it means you WANT to do HIS WORKS.
(If you don't WANT to do His works, or speak AGAINST doing them, there's some problem present)

END OF STORY.
Works do not keep us saved....JESUS takes care of that....he started the work of faith and he will finish the work of faith.....I am saved to the uttermost and held secure by his hand....You should actually trust JESUS instead of yourself FRAN!

You and others here love the idea of being sealed.

Too bad it's only one or two verses as opposed to the hundreds against this idea.

And you know VERY WELL that you cannot take two verses and make a DOCTRINE out of them.
I'm sure this is one of the very first things you learned in theology class.

You'll be sealed in the Holy Spirit for as long as you WANT to be.

If you don't WANT TO BE anymore, God will LET YOU OUT OF THAT SEALED ENVELOPE.
He will not FORCE YOU to stay in there.

Did you lose your FREE WILL when you became saved?
Is God going to save you even if you don't WANT to be saved?

Think about it.

God's word does not contradict itself.....and him saying it twice is sufficient...sealed UNTO THE DAY OF REDEMPTION is SEALED UNTO THE DAY OF REDEMTION!

Yes Dcon.

Isn't it just TERRIBLE to push works for God.

Better to say that we are to do NOTHING even though Jesus clearly stated what we are to do.
Try Mathew 25:1-46

Then pay special attention to verses:

Mathew 25:44-46

I like to remind everyone that this is JESUS speaking...:

Matthew 25:44-46 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

44 Then they themselves also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not [a]take care of You?’

45 Then He will answer them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’

46 These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

JESUS said that those who did not do what He commanded, feed the hungry, visit the sick, will go into eternal punishment.

Jesus is saying that they did NOT DO what He asked,,,

He DID NOT say that since they "believed in Him, they would automatically be saved".

I'm still waiting on those verses BTW...
By YOU or ANYONE...

(I know they're not forthcoming because they don't exist)
Yep....it is terrible when you tie it to faith to gain or keep salvation and in so doing negate the gospel and push a false dogma that does not save and ends in a bad way........ Galatians 1 and 3

Sigh...

If the Prodigal Son had not come back,
He would have been LOST.

Please see
Luke 15:24

The father says the son was dead and has come to life AGAIN, he was lost and is found.
AGAIN means:
The son was saved when he was with the father.
He became LOST WHEN HE LEFT THE FATHER'S HOUSE.
He returned to the Father's house and came back to life AGAIN...

Luke 15:24 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

24 for this son of mine was dead and has come to life again; he was lost and has been found.’ And they began to celebrate.
Sigh all you want.....the prodigal son is not about losing salvation, but rather squandering one's inheritance in this life by riotous living....he was a son through the whole process, was alive through the whole process, only perceived as dead through the whole process but indeed was very mush ALIVE and received as a son with a ring and a robe....you should take your working for rose colored glasses of religion off and view the bible through the eyes of faith!

Yes. The father also told the faithful son that all that the father has is his. The prodigal son squandered what was his but never lost his position as a son.

2 Corinthians 5
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. We should also be confident of this.
9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. Why do we labour after salvation has come? To be accepted by our Lord, not to keep on being saved.
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. All believers will appear before the JSOC. Our works will be judged good or bad. Salvation is not judged.
11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences. The JSOC should bring terror to the believer, knowing that we will be judged by our labour for the Lord after we are saved. We will receive rewards of inheritance or suffer the loss of rewards. See 1 Cor. 3.

But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that
justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
Romans 4:5

But it isn't counted long ......

For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish. Ps 1:6

Faith alone, not saved by works, when a person confesses Christ, for that is all they can do being fleshy.

Faith without works is dead, and a person is justified by works, and not faith alone, after they receive the Spirit, for then they are spiritual, and responsibility falls on them to keep right, for the Spirit will not twist their arm to live for God,and work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

2Ti 3:4 lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
2Ti 3:6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
2Ti 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Jesus did His job of the cross, and providing salvation for mankind, and when a person receives the Spirit then the responsibility falls on them to be led of the Spirit, which the Spirit will not lead anybody unless they hate sin,and do not want sin.

Jesus did His job of providing salvation, and when a person receives the Spirit,Jesus will help them to be like Him,but the action comes from the person first before the Spirit can act and help them not to sin.

The responsibility is on us,for the action comes from us first, not to want to sin,and do works, before the Spirit will act to help us to do those things, for if it came from the Spirit first, and no participation on our part, then we would not ever sin again, and always do works nothing wavering.

Some people act like they are led of the Spirit,no matter their lifestyle, and sin does not affect their relationship with God,but it is not true.

They do not harmonize scriptures, and understand there is conditions to confessing Christ, and faith, but want to say they can never fall, and faith alone, confess Christ alone,He does it all without their input, and they cannot see the Bible for what it is.

They interpret according to the flesh, like an occultist will interpret the Bible as such, and the Muslim will interpret the Bible as such.

The man Christ Jesus had to do what was right, and we as a human have to do what is right, for we have the same power available to us,the Holy Spirit, and there is no excuse.

That is why the Son is the judge of the world, for He obtained salvation, and went to heaven,so no person has an excuse why they could not make it,so the world is judged by the standard of the man Christ Jesus, and if you do not live up to that standard then there is no salvation.

The saints shall judge the world for they made it to heaven,so the world has no excuse, but if the saints cannot abstain from sin,and sin does not affect their relationship with God,then how are they judging the world on their sins.

Do not hold unto sin,and help the poor and needy, and not go by your wants, which many that believe OSAS fall victim to that, even heaping millions of dollars to themselves, which the Bible says the love of God does not dwell in them.

2Ti 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

1Co 15:34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

Heb 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
Heb 3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

1Jn 3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

Rom 11:21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
Rom 11:22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Gal 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
Gal 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

1Jn 3:17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

1Ti 6:5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
1Ti 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
1Ti 6:7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
1Ti 6:8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

as 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
Jas 2:15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
Jas 2:16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
Jas 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
Jas 2:24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

This is a salvation issue, for if they have the means to feed and clothe the poor and needy, and they do not do it,then the love of God does not dwell in them, and if they do not do the works of the Spirit then they do not have a good standing with God,for they are being disobedient.

Rev 2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
Rev 2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

Rev 3:2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.
Rev 3:3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

2Co 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
2Co 10:6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

But there are many that believe OSAS that talk of the material things they have, and money, and talking vacations, spending money on their wants, and wordly things, all they while think they are saved, and that is a popular lifestyle among many of them, but the love of God does not dwell in them, and they have erred from the faith, and their faith is dead.

Enjoying fleshy pleasures that war against the soul, all the while think they are alright.

They have a form of godliness, but deny the power thereof, ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

They do not get it,and cannot see that there is conditions to confessing Christ, and faith, not understanding the responsibility, but see it according to the flesh, they cannot fall, they cannot abstain from sin,and sin does not affect their relationship with God,which they will hold unto sin,and be in to money, and material things, and worldliness, because of their beliefs.

Some interpret scriptures according to the Spirit, and some according to the flesh, and many are called but few are chosen, which is why not everyone that says Lord, will enter heaven, and why not, because they thought sin did not affect their relationship with Jesus,so they were workers of iniquity.

No person says Jesus is Lord, but by the Holy Ghost, and those that confess Jesus Christ is come in flesh is of God,and Peter said to Christ, you are the Christ,Son of the living God,so if a person believes those things then God is working in their life,so if OSAS says they were chosen, then people that believe those things concerning Jesus, that say faith without works is dead, and a person is justified by works and not faith alone, and sin does affect their relationship with God,then they must of been chosen too.

But many are called but few are chosen, and the ones not chosen could not understsand that there are conditions to confessing Christ, and faith, but they have been called, and can correct themselves if they realize the truth.

The Bible says God calls things that have not happened yet,as though they already happened, for if it is a plan of God to happen in the future,it is the same as if it happened in the beginning, for it will surely come to pass with no hindrances.

The Lamb was slain from the foundation of the world, but in reality it was future.

Prophets blood shed from the foundation of the world, but it was future.

God wants all people to repent, come to the knowledge of the truth, and be saved, and the Spirit and bride say, whosoever will can have that salvation, and Jesus is the Savior of the world, that takes away the sins of the world, and lights every person that is born in to this world.

God had the plan to give mankind salvation before He laid down the foundation of the world,so it is the same as if the saints have salvation in the beginning, and that salvation is to whoever wants it.

To say that God chooses who will be saved, and not saved, without input from the people is to say God's kingdom is not love, because those that were chosen have no choice but to love God,seeing no other alternative, then it is not true love, and God is not evil that He would condemn people that have no choice in the matter, especially when all are sinners, and come short of the glory of God,there is none that does good,no,not one,and our righteousness is as filthy rags, and Jesus said Mary is the same as all the saints, and not better.

Why would they be chosen above other people.

No person comes to the Son unless the Father draws them, and many are called but few are chosen.

No person can come to the truth unless the Father works in their life to get them to the truth, but when they get to the door they must make the final push through it,which going through the door means receiving the Spirit, and realizing that sin does affect their relationship with God,and they have to hate sin,and not want sin,and allow the Spirit to lead them to do such.

God gets the glory for us being saved, for no person can get to the door unless the Father brought them there, but they have to make the final push through the door to get chosen.

Many are called but few are chosen, because not all make that push through the door, for they want to hold unto sin,and be worldly, and think they are right with God.

Heb 10:26 For if we sin wilfully(hold unto sin)after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins(the blood of Jesus cannot take it away, and it is on their record),
Heb 10:27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

2Pe 2:20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
2Pe 2:21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
2Pe 2:22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

1Sa 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
1Sa 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

2Co 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
2Co 10:6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Old Testament,New Testament,it is still obedience to God,for obedience is better than sacrifice, for if you do not have obedience then how does the sacrifice apply.

It is a lie sin does not affect a person's relationship with God,and they enjoy can money, and material things, worldliness, and fleshy pleasures, and still be right with God.

2Co 6:1 We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.
2Co 6:2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)
2Co 6:3 Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed.

1Pe 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
1Pe 2:12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

Well looky at this little tidbit of information,a needle in the haystack, and 4 leaf clover, and any other thing that is hard to find, for some that claim Christ cannot find it.

Mat 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Mat 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Cease from your sins, and hypocrisy, and do good works,so you do not give offense to the ministry, and the world that observes your Christlike lifystyle will glorify God in the day of visitation.

Preaching the Gospel is great, and has an impact, but displaying a Christlike lifestyle, and living the Gospel has a greater impact, along with preaching the Gospel.

Jas 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
Jas 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

If they say they do not have to obey the law,and do not have to obey the commandments, and sin does not affect their relationship with God,and they do not have to be obedient to Christ, and they do not have to do works,it appears as if they are hearers of the word, and not doers of the word.

First of all, I wasn't addressing you so I don't know why you're answering for Dcon.
I guess he needs all the help he could get...

Second of all, don't you be worrying about what I'd like to have and what blocks I may have.

Why do you make this personal?
Can't you just speak to the doctrine like I do with you?
Then don't mention my name in your post.

I don't think I'm overthinking...:D
I think I'm seeing hypocrisies and inconsistencies in myself because He is showing them to me.
You aren't any different than anyone of us. We all fall short of His Glory. We can look into our nature till the cows come home and be humble but I don't think this is the correct interpretation of humility.

It's when we take the Word for truth over our own thoughts. Renewing our mind with His Word. So in being raised with Him in His resurrection, what kind of person does God now say you are. That's my point.

Lol did you like it cuz she remembered her citation?

Thought your didnt like cut and pastes?

Personally I prefer if she put it in a quote box and gave a summary of what she thought the article meant or even a brief paragraph definition of what hyper grace is.
That's what you get for thinking, LOL!

Just goes to show you don't know me at all.

the rest of wheere you are quoting

Paul is teaching things that these churches after He left, were doing wrong. those letters were corrections in Belief and also behavior. long after He left He wrote Back hearing reports of what they were doing with the Gospel, either they were thinking the Mosaic Law had to be obeyed and circumcision was needed, or they were thinking thier sinful behavior was covered byu grace so they were acting as they wanted saying " yay were home free lets go do as we please and have fun since were saved......thats what sinners nature will do when you think theres no consequence. paul was actually a very stern man when it came to sin its eveidenced in almost all of His letters. look at all He says of the corinthians " i will come and not spare any of you unless you get right" " i will hand Him over to satan to destroy Him" things Like that He berades them sternly for thier sin hes Not saying well no biggy grace grace. He Just is also sharing hope and encouragement in the same letters.

its why peter warns about pauls letters easily misunderstood and distorted.
We put these habits of our human nature to death by reckoning it's done. Romans 8. And we will work or labor under wrong teachings until we see His Victory.

His resurrection life. You all want to remain at the foot of the Cross. He is alive...and we are His body.

Those who are His He will not lose. Those who argue against this are not His.
I think maybe blinded by mans traditional sermons of the past may be more accurate Magenta. I'd really have to think about this one to see if you are correct in this.

However, I may be wrong. Just hope not.

for sure

but if we believe Him, we also believe Him when He says that it is for the sake of His name that He saves, not according to what we have done, but according to His own promise to redeem.

surely in a thousand pages the whole strawman of "
grace = disobedience & licentiousness" has been dealt with?
To me it seems that it is NOT about licentiousness and the freedom to sin and grace = disobedience.

To me, it sounds here on this thread, that some say works are not necessary.

Dcon has come right out and said that works do not save or keep saved.

Well, if works do not KEEP us saved, what does?
The love Jesus has for us?

Then this DOES LEAD to grace = disobedience.
Works is obedience.
If we obey God we remain IN CHRIST,

If we DO NOT OBEY, are we still IN CHRIST?
If we are NOT IN CHRIST, are we still saved?

Seems really easy to me. No need to complicate.

Remember this:

GOD IS LOVE.
but
GOD IS ALSO JUST.

God is a loving God, but He is also a Just God.

He has not changed from when you were a little girl.
He has not changed from when He spoke in the OT.
Only the MANNER in which we serve Him has been changed.

HE ALWAYS DEMANDED OBEDIENCE AND HE ALWAYS WILL.
This is how I view the NT covenant now. Remembering that it is the will of inheritance left for His body when He died, and ascended to heaven. Then sent His own Holy Spirit to empower...through faith by His grace.

Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives as the Messiah loved the church and gave himself for it,

Eph 5:26 so that he might make it holy by cleansing it, washing it with water and the word,

Eph 5:27 and might present the church to himself in all its glory, without a spot or wrinkle or anything of the kind, but holy and without fault.

This is a marriage. We are His bride, and He is our groom. We submit to His will, and carry out His work but by the power of Holy Spirit within...the friend of the groom.

Living, moving, having our being in Him. He doesn't demand...He loves, and we love in return.

I never said we would not accomplish works. But, my definition of works may be different than others.
