Jaime, if you go to "Settings" you will see a number just above the Rep Comments. That number goes up by the rep power the person who gives you a rep has. You now have sixty rep power. So if you give someone a rep, their number will go up by sixty. If they were already at a number above forty, that will increase their rep power by one when they enter the next hundred count. If their number was below forty, you giving them a rep will not increase their rep power. You can get ten reps and not have your power move if the people repping you have little rep power themselves. Is that confusing? Once you have one hundred rep power, every time you rep someone, their rep power will increase by one at least. Again, it depends on the number the other person has above their comments, because it could go up by two. They are two separate numbers. When you hit two thousand posts you will also get another rep, and on your anniversary also. If you pay attention to that number in your settings, you can guess who gave you an anonymous rep by finding a person who has the rep power that matches how much your number went up.
Very good explanation. You certainly have a way with words that is worth emulating. :)

Remember the days where you had to get like, 50 individual reps, to get one full rep point?

Everyone is super duper rep power now. lol.

Thank you, Jerry :) I learned some of that from you, and you are certainly someone who is worth emulating here :) Also, you were the first person I gave a rep to whose power increased more than one. I was perplexed at the time because I did not know how the system worked, then. I did not pay much attention to the rep system when I first got here, but so many people ask about it.

people view rep differently. I remember there was this new user in the bible discussion forum and he and i were in a debate and he was not taking what I and what others were saying well he saw our correction as attacking and messaged me saying so you think that because you have high reputation your right or something? (my rep was 143 back then) And I said no, my rep power doesn't validate what I say as right or as wrong it is not even any indication of me at all in my eyes.

Rep power can be seen as a sort status and i can see why some would think one with high rep would be a well known well respected member I know several who have less posts than I do and have far more rep power and for good reason but at the same time rep power is not always an indication of the person themselves

I wouldn't concern myself over rep points on a forum. Seems self-centered. Well, it is self centered, maybe that's why. :)

:)

l remember when l first joined if l saw someone with a rep power of 40 I'd think, wow, that's really high.
It took a ton of reps to get one point.

Doesn't the system give you a point...
For every 1,000 posts?...or every time you have a birthday or something like that?
Or is it everytime someone is brave enough to step into the BDF?
Everytime someone posts a cat pic?

l'm not sure what's going on.
All l know is at this rate, Magenta will be able to give someone 100 full points in one rep.

She must be stopped...no matter the cost. :)

I heard it was one point for every time you were correct on a point of doctrine or theology.

You get an increase of 1 rep power for each 1000 posts and 1 rep power for each anniversary when you joined. Magenta is the all-time champion of rep power and deservedly so. :)

That is pretty high praise coming from you Jerry, and I do not feel I deserve to be elevated in such a way as to say I deserve more than others, for it is others who have given much to me. I do give rep points on a fairly consistent basis, especially to those whom I feel add a lot to this site without much recognition of that fact. This month I have given about two dozen reps, maybe closer to thirty.

And 1 rep power for every 100 points. If I gave someone a rep,It would equal 61 points and If someone else gave a rep with a rep power of 39,It would equal 100 points.
61+39=100 rep points which equals 1 rep power.

Let me see if l can guess this correctly, Tourist.
The rep guessing game. :)

3694 = 36 Full Rep Points
Every member gets 1 point after their first 50 posts.
1 rep point for having a 1,000 posts.

Bringing her number to 38.

Naw, this is not confusing AT all. :(
