Everyone wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to pay the price. :)
Could it be because the price was already paid at Calvary and now eternal life is a free gift to all who will repent and believe?

Not sure how this could apply to believers, but there is a broad highway to Hell for those who have not believed.

My comment was intended to be light hearted humor not a doctrinal statement on salvation.

I couldn't agree more!

Also, I love the verse you quoted, it gives me a great deal of hope.

When I hear of heaven, I think of Revelation 4 and 5. It's enough to bring me to tears. It may not be "heaven", but in describing New Jerusalem I love what Ch 21 says:

Revelation 21:4
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

Revelation 21:23
And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb.

How awesome is that!
Revelation 21.4 is one of my favorite verses

We were told that this abbey in Bath, England was the inspiration for the song..... these stairways are on both sides of the entrance to the abbey, and have angels climbing all the way up....

Please excuse my feeble minded attempt at humor (note the smiley face) My point was nobody wants to "die" to get to heaven; Even our Saviour Jesus asked the Father to "take this cup from me" - next time I will refrain from light hearted humor and again, please excuse me if you have been offended by my statement.

I was wondering if we could spend some time perhaps discussing this issue? I often find myself day dreaming of Heaven, trying to imagine what it is going to be like, and I am looking forward to going! What do you think Heaven will be like?
Thank you FeedtheMachine for asking the question, what do you think heaven will be like; I am often thinking about heaven and sitting at the Master's feet, as did His disciple's. Even though I have incurable prostate cancer due to exposure from Agent Orange (a defoliate chemical agent) in Vietnam; I wake up every morning with a smile and commit my day unto to the Lord. He Has met all my needs in Christ Jesus far above and beyond what I could ever dream, including a beautiful Christian Thai wife who supports my faith daily. Again thanks for your faith in Jesus and this wonderful post - God bless!

good grief... did you enlist when you were 15?

Thanks for your service, by the way.

You are welcome. When I registered my age and screen name I hit 1955 instead of 1950 - my true age is 67yrs old and my service in Vietnam was 1970-71, 4th Infantry Div. 4/42 Arty, Battery B, Airmobile. I was 19yrs of age went I entered the draft.

Many young men fled to Canada to avoid the draft, I chose to follow my calling to serve. My wife pointed out the age discrepancy one day while viewing a post - after that I tried continuously to change my date of birth without success.

If any one knows how to fix this problem please let me know - my wife said I typed in her birth date accidentally on purpose. And she also reminds me that I survived Vietnam and that I can survive prostate cancer - thanks for your question.

I knew some guys that joined up pretty young... I was pretty "gung-ho" when I was just old enough to start paying attention, around 13 or 14.... (kill a commie for mommie)... that kind of thing. As the war dragged on, it became painfully obvious that our goal was not to win it... and I began to see zero reason to keep sending guys over there. When I was 16, my lottery number was "1".... when I was 17, it was around 11 or so.... I was beginning to think I should join up. When I turned 18, my number was way up in the upper 200's IIRC, but then they abolished the draft. While I was very happy they did that, then ended the war, I suppose there was always a little niggling sense that I somehow "dodged" it....

After hearing first-hand the stories of how many of you guys were treated upon returning, I find the behavior of those people an atrocity. I have nothing but the utmost respect and gratitude for you 'Nam vets.. "thank you" just really doesn't say it....

I pray God's blessings on you in your cancer fight... I've skated past two relatively minor bouts of skin lymphoma, and am depending on God to keep it from spreading anywhere "serious".... prayers for you, brother.

Photo of my wife and I about 5yrs ago in Thailand - recon I woud be 62yrs old. We sold the business in 2008 and moved to Lamphun, Thailand and built 3 small homes. One to live in, one for her family, and one to rent. In 2012 we received the bad news, cancer, and 2yrs later we moved back to California to continue treatment. Maybe this is to much info but thought you may want to know - God bless!

I understand the want to join the fight - my best friend Doug was refused entry because of an injury playing college football. I told him because of his size they would have put an M60 machine gun in his hand and maybe we would not have the Christian friendship we have today and he agree's. We were friends and business partners for 35yrs.

Yes keep fighting the cancer battle - I tell my oncologist that chemo was the "best worst thing I've ever done" because I'm killing the tiger (cancer), but the body suffers from the side-effects. All in All, I praise God with all my being, and carry on proud to be in God's Army for the good fight - God bless!

Here are a few photo's from our Church Family near home. Thailand is 90 percent Buddhist and 2 percent Christian, with a population of 65 million. Most Thai's do not think they have a need to be saved so it is difficult when you present to them the idea of a Savior who died for their sins - Buddhism is a merit based religion. Most Thai village family life revolves around Temple worship, from birth until death. The Christian Hill tribes people, Hmongs, Karen, Lisu and Yao, can wait for years for 1 or 2 new believer's in "Jesu - Jesus" - it is such a joy to be a witness for Jesus Christ to Thai people - they love to hear the Gospel News, but few who want to leave the safety of their childhood faith. - God bless!

That is wonderful to hear - most vets and Thai folks are open to hearing the gospel. Our Church Pastor is Irish/Thai, my wife is friends with the pastor's mom who was born in Thailand. Amazing Thailand you cannot deny they have the best Asian food, so spicy, my wife happens to be a retired gourmet cook - I am sooo happy praise God.

You would be having a gourmet cook. :)

My girlfriend told me she likes American food now. She says she's been here too long. They go to Thailand every so many years and hold meetings. And she says the same thing, that they are open to the gospel.

Problem is the government and the Muslim invasion. I hope their freedom continues.

I had to stop reading the reports about killings on the Thai southern border with Malaysia. The radical Muslims want to take over the the southern Thai province of Yala and convert everyone to Islam and invoke sharia law. Every week school teachers are shot dead on their motorcycles as they return home from work to their families. The shooter's lie in wait and then run and hide into their Muslim communities - it never stops. The King of Thailand say's to these terrorist - this is our land, and not your land and never will be.

I wasn't aware of the Kings declaration. Thank you for sharing. I don't think my friend will be able to go back. And she gets homesick to see her family.

I knew there was great suffering. The darkness is spreading.
