You just bring some antihistamines to the lady you date, and everything will be fine. Allergy is treatable!
I don't think they make an antihistamine for unattractiveness, but thank u for the suggestion..

On top of all of that it takes a stronger dedicated person to manage a long distance relationship over time. Seems a lot just are capable.

Intresting topic..if I DID date someone on C.C no I wouldn't announce it at all for some of the reasons mentioned..'if we broke up it would be public..and also I would have to trust the inter gritty of the person to whom I had dated if things didn't work out as sometimes honesty, misinterpretation ect can happen in a break up and I haven't got time to go through all that "having to justify things to others who are picking sides ect"..too much of a head ache.
yet I'm all the way in England..and having a long distance relationship can be tricky..yet if I had met someone and through prayer we both really sensed it was god the the long distance element would be secondary.

Yes. Online dating is kind of a fake reality. I can forget who I am in real life, and pretend that I can be loved. You might build up imaginary castles together. Grand dreams of love and a future. But it is all dreams. A part of me still want to dream, though.
You certainly can be loved and I pray that your dreams come true.

Oh! I knew about the accordion. I just didn't want to think about it incase that would lead to nightmares. *Trembling with fear by the thought of the sound of an out of tune accordion*

Hey there, Everyone!!!

If you started dating someone from CC, would you tell everyone, or would you keep it to yourself?

I must confess that after being here for about 8 years, I am older than dirt in the equivalent of CC years (but am still learning new things all the time.)

I've never dated anyone on CC, but I'd never rule it out either, and I've known plenty of other people who HAVE dated CC members. They were like any other relationships:

* Some started out with a bang, but fizzled quickly.

* Some lasted a while, but faded.

* Some people were catfished, and had their hearts utterly broken.

* Some ended horribly, often with one or both parties going on to date another CC member.

* Some wound up getting married... but then divorced.

* A small minority, God bless those few, got married and are hopefully still living their happily ever after.

Now I have to confess. After being single for so long, if I found myself in a CC relationship, part of me would want to write a giant thread with colorful sparklers that said, "YES!!! I CAN GET A DATE!! I'M NOT THE TOTAL DRIED UP HAG OTHER MEMBERS IN THE PAST HAVE ACCUSED ME OF BEING!!!"

And then reality sinks in.

I think that for me, my biggest fear is that if I announced I was seeing someone from the site publicly... I would also have to publicly confess the breakup if things went wrong, and that could lead to a lot of backlash for both myself and the other person.

It would also probably mean that I would have to leave CC out of respect for the person I had dated. But that's just me.

How about the rest of you? If you started dating someone from CC, would you tell everyone? (And I'm guessing that even if you announced it via your Facebook status but not on CC, everyone here would find out anyway through other members on FB.)

What do you all think?

Please give me a few minutes to write an anonymous poll, but don't let the poll stop you from discussing your answer in a regular post.
Has anyone asked you out lately?

A wise man wouldn't announce it. Then the other girls he is entertaining on here would see it.

Hold on a minute.

I'm still sorting out invitations.

Kidding! :D

This thread is actually a rehash of one I wrote probably 4 years ago. I just updated it for the current CC crowd.

This is why I believe it's so important to cling on to God in everything, both good times and bad. I have had so many times when God showed me someone was not being honest with me, and I would have otherwise never known.

For example, I was spending time with a guy a long time ago, and my friend was sitting right across from him at work (I wasn't there), and she texted me and said, "He really likes you. He keeps typing on his phone and smiling and laughing."

Except... it wasn't my phone that he was blowing up. And that's how I found out he was with his ex-girlfriend. I could have really liked him. That one stung pretty bad (although, of course, they all do.)

A long list of stories like this... are why I'm still single.

And, it's a two-way street. God works overtime to keep me honest with other people as well, about what I sometimes think are minute, insignificant things. But, apparently, they're important to God.

I would announce it first to all the birds outside to see their reaction, then I would if me and my girlfriend talked it over tell about being in a relationship together here on Christian Chat, though not necessarily publicly perhaps more in pm messages,I know someone will ask why tell the birds first?

Well if we're ever in geographical proximity to each other, I'd use one of the gift cards I get from Christmas to take you for dinner at Texas Roadhouse or Applebees.

Ouch.... now I wonder who my wife was texting while she was laying next to me.

Makes me take the attitude that if you ain't married, you're just acquaintances. Less heartache.

Aw, thank you very much, Tommy. How about if I meet you halfway, and I'll bring the coupons. :D I know you're going through A LOT and while I don't have kids, I remember all too well what it's like. It'd be great to meet a CC friend in real life.

No worries, I'd pick up the bill as a gift from a fellow CC friend who knows heartache all too well.

God is the only reason I found out about my husband's girlfriend, too. He actually divorced me and they didn't go public with their relationship for almost a year afterwards. A friend of mine saw them and called me at 2 in the morning to tell me. I'm very thankful for that in a way. I know God keeps guys honest with me, no matter how long it takes, and no matter how painful it is. (And He keeps me honest with them as well.) But it's kind of tough.

I totally understand what you're saying. It's taken a long time (YEARS) for me to be a little more open-minded, but... I also keep my heart VERY protected... and usually keep everyone just close enough to be friends.

It just seems safer that way.

Though of course, like everyone, I dream of more. Maybe someday God will send someone who has enough tenacity to break through to me, and for me to break through to him as well.

If there is a well stocked bar I am there my friend. You can count on that.
...and a few drinks into it he starts quoting Heart of a Dog or trying to teach everyone how to sing "Russkaya Daroga". Sounds like fun.

If I were dating someone on CC, ain't no way I'd tell anyone, anything, under any circumstance. People couldn't tickle-torture that kind of info out of me.
