You mean because of his smell.

A bit like silent but deadly?
How dare you? I am starting to think some of you may not have faith in my authenticity. Very well, I have no need to convince you. Now, who has a true question for me? Despite my poor Franc's temporary blindness to the truth of the situation I am me.

Wrong....Study James properly these snippets destroy Truth

James is writing to the Jews, who are learning how to come out from under the Law and what role works have to play in their final judgment.

The question of faith has already been settled, we are saved by faith, James knew this he was a born again believer.

James is teaching on the profitable life of the Christian and being judged by the law of liberty when we stand before God

Those under the law of liberty are already justified by faith in Christ.

Faith alone does not profit because we are already justified by faith, for the believers judgement before God it is works that will be Rewarded, that is why he is stressing works

If you do a study on dead as it applies to dead faith you will learn this word means ineffectual

Hear yourself:

1. ALL WHO HAVE FAITH WILL WORK.

2. FOR THAT REASON, WORKS ARE NOT REQUIRED.

3. THEY ARE A BY-PRODUCT OF FAITH.

Translation:

ALL WHO HAVE FAITH WILL WORK SINCE WORK IS A BYPRODUCT OF FAITH.

IF ONE DOES NOT WORK IT MEANS HE HAS NO FAITH.

SO....

WORKS ARE REQUIRED TO SHOW THAT I HAVE FAITH IN MY LORD AND SAVIOR.

IF I DON'T HAVE WORKS....I DON'T HAVE FAITH.

So, my dear EG, WHY would I be afraid to say that, yes, Works Are Necessary or Required if I'm sure I'm saved????

for me, it was always knowledge, learn all you can, and you will not sin. The only issue is it never worked, I still sinned, And of course, then the thing must be your not trusting God. if you did you would use the word and not sin.

Again that never worked.

For me, it was always just try harder, try again, you know what He wants you to be like and can obviously see your lack of love, lack of patience, sharp tongue setting fires wherever it goes, etc. I loved Him, I was grateful, astonished that He wanted to know me, but I was missing that I COULDN'T be good by just trying harder. And this was all AFTER I'd met Him and received His Spirit.

Anybody can call Jesus Lord without following Him. So, no, calling Him Lord without obedience is nothing but lip-service.

Luke 6:
46Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? 47“Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like: 48he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. 49“But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly, is like a man who built a house on the ground without any foundation; and the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great.”
The verses just prior say:

A Tree Is Known by Its Fruit

43 “For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. 44 For every tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush.45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart[g] brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

So either we ARE good trees, and produce good fruit, or we aren't.
Either we ARE born again and ARE His children, or we aren't.
If we are, we are a NEW creation, and by the nature of that NEW creation He will cause us to bring forth good fruit because we are a part of Him, and get ALL that we need naturally by Him to produce that fruit.

A bad tree, try as HARD as it can, CAN'T produce good fruit.
A child of the father of lies, try as hard as he can, CAN'T be a child of God. By nature he will produce bad fruit.

Which two camps do you speak of?

Maye I know some of them, not personally of course.

Okay, I see what you are defending now. It's okay. So many godly men, dead now, whose books I have read and who helped me immensely, fall in one camp or the other. I love them all and they have BOTH helped me to the building up of my faith as I run. :) I realize that is rare, at least in here, but I have seen men in both sides of this who walk by the Spirit very fruitfully.

Jesus give specific Example what He want us to do, that count oN judgement day

Matt 25

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, inasmuch AS ye have done It unto one of the least of these my brethren ye have done It unto me.
The list I gave counts also. I even think it counts more...

Makes total sense and I stand side by side with you.
Even in Jesus we can get it wrong and I'm sure this will raise a few heckles but we will get it wrong.
If we never got it wrong then there would have been no reason for Paul to write what he did.

But to me he is saying, build on the foundation of Christ, that should be your focus but if you get it wrong you are still saved.

I actually fell foul of this and I know of others who do but for a different reason than mine.

For me it was like work hard, do what you are told and if you work hard enough you are ok.
No one ever told me that Jesus was my foundation, so I built my own foundation which was me and hoped Jesus would cover that, notice I say hoped he would.

Thats what I consider works orientated gospel.

On the flip side I have know of people who go to the other extreme.
Use it as an excuse to cover sin.
love your new avatar billy Christopher Lambert my favorite actor lol.. you are funny though..... Haha ..

Simple logic mate faith can not bloom without growth and growth can not grow without faith.. haha. Welcome to my club highlander

She will never see the truth as long as...
a. She rejects the words of Paul as the inspired words of Jesus
b. Denies Jesus was born, lived and died under the law which ratified the new covenant and his words must be interpreted in that light
c. Denies that what John wrote are the words of Jesus
Definition: A liar is a person who tells lies.

Try & twist that.

Did I SAY FAITH IS A WORK?

PLEASE show me where I said that?

You and Dcon and EG make up things about people.
WHY do you do this?

Does it make you feel Greater than them?
Are you afraid of what they say so you make believe you don't hear it?
Do you resent that they sound right and you don't and now you don't know what to do about it?
...so you say lies about them?

WHY???

Are we supposed to behave better than the rest of the world or are we supposed to act just like it?
Jesus died so we could act just like those that aren't even Christian??
Since they can't catch you in your words, they simply lie on you.

Always remember dear readers, you can't pull a plumb off a hedge apple tree.:)

Wait....just reread this article and the author is AGAINST telling people to OBEY the gospel but argues that we should instead tell THEM TO BELIEVE the gospel....

Obey or Believe? It's All Greek to Me! | Worldview Everlasting

"But you will undermine the Gospel by trying to “obey” it when the Gospel itself insists you can do no such thing, but must rather shut up, stop trying to self-justify and simply believe."

You obey the gospel by having Faith in Christ,

At least that is what I hear the word say it, When it says all who do not obey, to me it means those who have rejected the gospel. And not obeyed.

which is different than obeying a command.

so I guess in that context, I can see obey and faith meaning the same, But not in some legalistic way. (stop sin, Do these works or else etc etc)

Yes, Legalism can affect Gods people also. it is not just in gaining salvation, it is in gaining Gods love and gaining victory.

Thats why I hate and fight it so passionately. Because it almost ruined my life. and I have seen it utterly destroy other peoples lives.

The light of truth, It can not get any plainer than this, yet sadly. some will make it so difficult they will not see it.

Of course, you know I am all about being under Grace...and this true for all of us equally.

Even if we get caught up in it, it does not take away from the what is being discussed and it should continue because the OP is the truth and God's word does not return void.

[SUP]11 [/SUP]So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
Isaiah 55:11
If we get caught up in it and stumble, we should get back up again and continue our race of trust. We should apologize, regardless of whether or not they are reviling us. Their reviling of us should be expected but we should see that WE continue walking in the Spirit and pray for the help we need to do so.

Read it again and keep reading.

It's interesting how persons tend to see what they want to see.
And,,,I knew you would pick out that one sentence.

Care to share the rest?

If you say we need continuous faith to be saved, I am sure I can find multiple times when you have said this, (not that I will because it does not matter to me anyway) then yes you have made faith a work
New American Standard Bible
Romans 1:17For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "BUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH."
Hebrews 10:38
New American Standard Bible
BUT MY RIGHTEOUS ONE SHALL LIVE BY FAITH; AND IF HE SHRINKS BACK, MY SOUL HAS NO PLEASURE IN HIM.

Galatians 3:11
New American Standard Bible
Now that no one is justified by the Law before God is evident; for, "THE RIGHTEOUS MAN SHALL LIVE BY FAITH."

Habakkuk 2:4
New American Standard Bible
"Behold, as for the proud one, His soul is not right within him; But the righteous will live by his faith.

You have just said all these scriptures are works, because they imply continuous, consistent faith.

That's what happens when you judge without thinking.

Here's a question I'd really like an answer to...
Why is there evil on the world?
The vanity of the created, also the longsuffering and patience and grace of God the creator.

to say continue is faith means faith comes from self. from out own power. and is based on ourself. And not based on the one we are having faith in.

that makes it a work.

A work is anything which comes from self. which is for self (ie, I am taking care of my own needs)

to say we must continue in faith is basically saying as long as the person I have faith in does what I want, I will trust him, but the second he stops. I will take my faith and put it in something that will take care of what I want (selfish desires, not actual needs, because God will always take care of our needs, He will not always give us what we desire, he knows us better than we know ourself. and he knows what is best)

so one must ask, if a person had this kind of faith to begin with, did they ever have faith in God? No. They just for an amount of time thought God would give them what they desire, so they decided to try this faith thing out. Once they realized God will not give them all they want, the reason for their faith ceased, and they fall away..

True repentance leads to true saving faith that is not self seeking, and thus will never fade away, Because it never seeks for self. it relys on God to know what is best for us, and may weaken, or vary, but will never fade away, because God NEVER does us wrong..

Only if we are selfish and seeking selfish desires will we ever stop trusting God because God never promised to give us everything we want,
I don't agree that to abide/continue in faith means faith comes from myself...He gives everyone a measure of faith, a talent. If we weren't expected to use and grow it, He would be wrong to take it back from the man who buried it and did not grow it. This sounds to me like you do away with abiding/continuing in faith. It sounds to me like in order to protect the doctrine of OSAS, you must do away with too much of what He said. There are always verses "in tension to" and you have to include them too. You can't do away with continuing in trust/abiding by calling it a "work", can you? GM by the way! :)
