It has gotten to the point that people are so preoccupied with the affairs of the world, that finding a partner has become a nightmare. I can't seem to find a partner who wants to take it easy, who isn't wrapped up in work work.

Where is that youthful exuberance, that we had for each other when we were young. That spontaneous free attitude, to go out and just have fun.

where are you my dream girl?

If you can find that spontaneous free attitude within yourself you can have fun without her.
If you can not find that spontaneous free attitude within yourself it won't do any good to find her.
If you can have fun without her and then you find her, you will have twice the fun.
If you can't have fun without her it won't be any fun being with her either.

This ain't no riddle, just plain facts.

Yeah I get you, but the world has changed too much to accommodate such flights of fancy.

Then what will become of you if you never find her? Will you never have any fun in life for lack of a woman?

But if you enjoy your life as it is, you may find her in the process. She may already be out there enjoying life, and wondering why you are taking so long to find her.

To recap,
You complain people of the world are too busy and serious now.
He basically just said 'learn to be happy where you're at. if you can't do that then you won't be happy with someone either'. And your response is 'the world has changed too much for that'.
And your response is 'i can't do that because of how the world is'.
Hmm... So, because the world is full of serious people focused on work you can't learn to be happy alone... because of the way the world is? Seems you have placed yourself in a faulty logic that traps you in an endless cycle. The good news is, it's not truth. It's just what you tell yourself. Once you step out of that cycle you're free to find how much sense his statement makes. (=

Is she really? Well that's super sweet of you to say.

Life is a relationship, without healthy relationships I'd be better off dead.

If life is a relationship, would you be dead if you were stranded on a deserted island? And even if life IS relationship, is marriage the only relationship? Can't a person...

Eh forget it. I'm going to go play Metro 2033. It's depressing, but not as depressing as talking to somebody who believes the be-all and end-all of life is to get married.

Your dream girl is probably out having fun.

Life is a spiritual relationship that you have with God. Healthy relationships are a good thing but not everything and you're certainly not better off dead because you don't have a girlfriend.

Your primary and priority relationship is with God. Every other (healthy) relationship flows from that.
If I were you I would concentrate on that. I would also pray for the true peace and joy that can only come from Him.
Frankly, judging by your posts you are not in a optimum place right now for s relationship anyway.

You people are truly as John said "Brood of vipers"
Man, being single makes some people cranky!

No... wait, that's not it. I'm single and I'm not cranky. It must be something different.

Being single and brooding over the women they wish they could have makes some people cranky!

Dude, if you're going to insult at least make it a good insult. Don't just pull a random insult off the "insults for christians" shelf.

For example I'm not a viper, I'm a Lynx. I'm not getting hissy with you, I'm just... catty. =^.^=

Put some THOUGHT into your insults. They have a lot more punch if you'll take the time to pick a good one.

The advice is good - to a point; however, the focus of the OP seems to have been missed entirely. The complaint is not at all about having anything to do with being content without a partner. It is about the "potentials" he is finding not having a "relaxed enough" disposition and attitude toward the activity of her life.

Stop telling him that he should not look for someone to share his life with. Start understanding that he only wishes that he could find a more compatible woman to potentially ( and ultimately ) be his partner.

Life is certainly more enjoyable when one is in a variety of healthy relationships. Having a "life partner" (we used to call such a "spouse") does not define you. Further, if you have a healthy relationship with Christ, you can thrive with or without a spouse, and all other relationships will be richer and more fulfilling. Without Christ, you aren't healthy enough for a decent relationship anyway, so why inflict your broken self on another person?
