...So, I should place a disclaimer on my comments about Jewish Holidays and traditions... as it is only second-hand knowledge.

For instance, I couldn't shake that something seemed off to me and so I double checked the special sabbath, and see I that erroneously referred to as special sabbath, Tzom Gedaliah, is but a minor fast day... and the special shabbatot is Shabbat Shuva (Shabbat of Returning), which falls Sept 23rd this year.

:p

Thank you for the info

Sept 23rd is the first day of Tishri, being the first day of Trumpets, the first day of the year according to the Jewish civil calendar. I think that this Jewish civil calendar isn't Biblical because "Tishri" in scripture is the seventh month, not the first month. Many Jewish customs these days aren't recorded in scripture, so I don't take them very seriously. I take seriously what is recorded in scripture though. :)

"Pre-empt...Acquire or appropriate (something) in advance, such as calling people to an event. Synonym "anticipate" as trumpets can be a sound for gathering for the following events as defined in the New Testament as... "at the last trump," related to a gathering/harvest. Maybe I should have just used the phrase... "comes before."
Thank you for the clarification.

I agree with you. I was concerned because another meaning of pre-empt is to thwart or prevent an event.

In context I was not sure what you were saying.

Rev 9:20 And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:
Rev 9:21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

Speaking of trumpets being a warning, that is what they mean in the book of Revelation, for they are warnings to the world by the disasters that happen on earth,to repent of their evil deeds, and turn to God,but after the 6th trumpet they do not turn to God,but keep trying to solve their problems, and achieve peace on earth,so God gives them the beast to rule over them, and cause all people that do not love Him to follow the beast kingdom,in which God will put them down.

The trumpets are warnings to the world, giving them a chance to turn to God,but they do not,so it is the end,and God will allow the world to be deceived by the beast.

Yes, as a verb, it can be used either to prevent something, or anticipate something. I see now what your concerns were. Thank you for causing this clarification brother.
