Singles! What Things Would You Put Down as Your "Traffic Light" Dating Profile?

Hey Singles,

Since the "Name 3 Reasons Why Men/Women Would Line Up to Date You" thread has been bumped a few times but is several years old, I was thinking of how we could revive it in the form of a brand-slappin' new 2017 version.

I got this idea while I was sitting in traffic on the way home from work.

For anyone who would like to participate, how about writing a "Traffic Light Dating Profile", like this?

RED: Name 1 or 2 challenges in your life that you feel might be tough for someone to see past.

YELLOW:
Name 1 or 2 things you're working on improving in your life, or asking God for help with.

GREEN: Name 2 or more things someone would love about you, or that you could contribute to a relationship.

Here are mine :):

RED: I have strong emotions, which is both good and bad, because they are just as powerful to either extreme. I love with all my heart, but I can hate with all my heart, too.

YELLOW: I used to be very unhappy with so many things in my life (being single, things at work, family situations, etc.), but God is really working at teaching me to be content, and even grateful, in a number of different situations. He is also helping me to get over the past.

GREEN: I work hard at relationships. It's important to me to really find out who the person is, from A to Z, and then try to encourage and help him achieve what God has placed before Him to do. And hopefully, he would encourage and support my God-given callings, too. :)

Also... it would be REALLY cool if I could make him laugh a little along the way. ;)

How about the rest of you?

Marrieds are welcome to answer, too, but in the context of characteristics you and your spouse work on together and what your spouse loves about you, or what you love to help your spouse with. :)

On your mark?

Ready.

Set.

GO!!! :)

RED: I'm a conspiracy theorist and talk about the new world order and biblical end days.

YELLOW: Learning patience and to be understanding working progress with my walk with God

GREEN: I'm caring and a loveable guy.

Red - I'm a drug addict. Nicotine is my drug of choice.

Yellow - I want God's help to be more sensitive to my wife's needs and for me to finally put the habit of smoking behind me.

Green - Generally, loving, kind, affectionate and playful. Always faithful.

Red: I get really into what I get into, and I can't expect anyone to get into the stuff I am into, wether it be fabrics, bars of soap, baroque music, lingustics, politics or bassoons

Yellow: My physical disability can be a challenge to get your head around. I pray for healing. A side effect of that is an intese sense of self hatred. Atleast what my body is concerned. I am working on that, and I hope with God's help I will be more comfortable being more than my talking head.

Green: I can be quite funny. I am a decent cook and like baking. I am practical and find solutions in the most stressful circumstances. (I work best under pressure)

Now this is a rare talent I really wish I had.

My high school boyfriend was like that too, and became an EMT. He loved and thrived on high-pressure, emergency situations, and was always really good at calming people down and getting the job done.

I am probably just the opposite, though I wish I wasn't.

Kudos to you, Toi!

You are too nice, Tourist. And I am really happy to see you around. I prayed for you both. Are you OK?

We came through unscathed except for losing power for 40 hours and that is now restored. I pray for you also.

Re: Singles! What Things Would You Put Down as Your "Traffic Light" Dating Profile?

Red: I'm very sensitive. I can take things people say the wrong way. Also, my dad wasn't around much growing up so I guess I have daddy issues.

Yellow: I'm trying to get to a point where Jesus is everything for me...and I don't want or need a boyfriend. I have found this to be the case where I'm always having a crush on different guys. I don't want that. I am working on keeping boundaries and saving not just my body but my emotions for my future husband.

Green: I really enjoy baking. I also don't have any debt. I'm a cheap date too. I prefer take out over fancy restaurants. :p

Re: Singles! What Things Would You Put Down as Your "Traffic Light" Dating Profile?

Red: I have trust issues and have a tendency of questioning the guy and myself and it's gotten worse since I was attacked a couple months ago by a stranger.

Yellow: Giving everything to God and knowing he will take care of me and the daily situations I come across including the relationship I am in with my beau.

Green: I am caring, always filled with surprises, always has a genuine smile and very intuitive with another person's feelings and emotions :)

Re: Singles! What Things Would You Put Down as Your "Traffic Light" Dating Profile?

RED: I lived a very hard life thanks to poor decision making skills. I'm angry, bitter, and have a very off-putting personality. I'm arrogant, condescending, stubborn, moody, morose, and I take a very sick delight in being considered strange and weird. I'm a recovering alcoholic, and if you asked me to describe some of my "best" times, the stories would start out with "...so I got hooked up with some DMT freebase and decided to smoke it" or some variation. I don't particularly like people. I have intimacy issues.

YELLOW: I'm much better than I used to be. I regularly attend counseling and take my meds as directed and it helps. I go to my AA meetings on Thursdays. I'm trying to realize that a lot of my anger is anger at myself and I need to stop that crap.

GREEN: I am very driven. If I get it in my mind to do something, learn something, accomplish something - it gets done. There is a whole 'nother personality lurking behind the cloak I wear, and only a few people in the world ever get to see it. For all my shortcomings and personality flaws, each of my ex's have admitted to me that they regret ever letting me go because they didn't realize what they had until after I was out of their lives.

Re: Singles! What Things Would You Put Down as Your "Traffic Light" Dating Profile?

Hmm...

RED LIGHT ONE: I seem to have zero ambition in life. I work at a fast food factory and I'm cool with that. I don't want to make my mark in the world, or fulfill my potential, or be all I can be or any of that. I have a Roth IRA for my retirement and no debts, so I think I'm doing pretty well. This troubles people, especially my mother and everybody who has ever told me I should (fill in the blank - start a bakery, open a computer repair shop, be whatever-profession-they-think-I-would-be-good-at.) Just because I can doesn't mean I should, and it certainly doesn't mean I want to. You go be all that you can be. I'm happy with my life and I have enough for what I need.

RED LIGHT TWO: I'm a minister. This means I'm probably going to be in the middle of whatever the church is doing, or sometimes whatever a church member is doing, or occasionally what some other church in the community is doing, just because I can help and they need help. If you want a peaceful, easy life do NOT marry a minister. A minister's wife gets dragged into helping with a lot of stuff. Seriously, don't even date a minister. (Note: This does not conflict with red light one. That's a matter of life goals. This is just the things a minister does.)

RED LIGHT THREE: I notice minor details and remember them for years. This worries some people when they say something and I remember something they said eleven years ago, or something they did eight years ago. I think they get the impression I'm spying on them or writing notes about every conversation anybody has ever had with me. I swear I'm not. My nerd brain just records stuff and doesn't even tell me about it until years later it coughs up the memory fragment. People think it's creepy, or at least very weird, so this belongs here as a red light.

YELLOW LIGHT: (Actually orange to be easier to read, but...) I can be the worst procrastinator in the world. (This has nothing to do with red light one, by the way. That is a fundamental life philosophy. This is just pure laziness.) If a task isn't urgent and won't get worse for waiting, I'll probably wait to do it. I'm trying to work on it though. Last Saturday I baked a lot of bread and it only took me until Monday afternoon to get up and wash all those loaf pans. Did I mention I can be really lazy? :p

GREEN LIGHT ONE: When I say I will do something, consider it already having been done. I'm very reliable when I say I will do something. I'm always at work on time, every time. If I don't think I can do it I won't tell you I can and then apologize later. I drove through the remnants of Harvey last Thursday to get a sheet of paper that a bus kid left at church, because I told her the night before that I would get it for her then.

GREEN LIGHT TWO: Red light three has a flip side. I notice all kinds of minor details, so if you're wanting to do something I'll probably already have it planned out to the last detail. I don't obsess over stuff, my brain just sorts out all the stuff we will need in order to do this plan and makes sure it's all covered. It comes in handy.

RED: I drink and gamble. Not alot but enough to put some people off.

YELLOW: I am very cautious and don't show my emotions often. But I am trying to get better at it.

GREEN: If I am your friend , you can count on me to always be there. I am also very honest and straightforward.

*Obligatory 3-year time skip*

Red:

- I may be a little too shy, anxious or unwilling to take risks. (Yeah, shocking, right?!)
- Too dead inside 4 you.

Yellow:

- Now, I was going to put not being real in the red section...but hey, who knows if that's actually true...
- I'm eating slightly healthier than before.

Green:

- I'm not really that over-talkative or annoying, that is, in public...
- I'm not stupid with money.

Re: Singles! What Things Would You Put Down as Your "Traffic Light" Dating Profile?

OK, I'll do one...

RED: I don't think I am very trusting. Sure, I'll trust you to pay back that $20 you owe me, I just won't trust you with my feelings. I am probably too reserved.

YELLOW: I'm feeling like I don't fit in anywhere in the Christian community. Mainstream Christianity in America seems more a cultural phenomenon than a spiritual one to me. My old church, though very good in some ways made me feel like I was "less than" due to my divorce. My new church is one that hired me for music, and I have since become their music director. They are a bit too liberal for my tastes. I sometimes wonder if I have a place at all...anywhere.

GREEN: I make a truly awesome clam chowder. ;)
