And Lynx, sorry I didn't answer... As far as a cloak goes... I'd need to find a pattern first and take a look at it. Unfortunately, I'm not all that skilled--just basic things, really, and I'd get nervous about making something for someone from such a distance (meaning I couldn't do any fittings, though a loose-fitting cloak might be feasible.)
If you sent me some pics, I'd have to see if there are some patterns in existence that would be close to what you're looking for. I know some people who are so talented they don't even need patterns, and can pretty much improvise anything, but unfortunately, I'm not one of them.

I always like noticing little things like this in ready-made clothing.
If the patterns are going different directions or if the prints/stripes/plaids don't match, this an obvious sign that the manufacturer was trying to cut costs, because it takes more time, skill, and materials to produce something that is of higher quality--and it shows.

Why lol? What part of canada is she from?
We usually don't even go below zero Celsius (freezing point), and sometimes don't get much snow if any at all, but last winter we had snow snow and more snow over months, and it was seven below Celsius (nineteen degrees Fahrenheit) for quite an extended period. Very unusual for west coast/lower mainland winter weather, which is normally quite moderate.
Alas.
The project I'm working on shall just be a humble pair of shorts for the gym, but long enough to cover the assets without displaying and/or choking the buns (unlike any of the choices in the stores now days.)
