My ex boyfriend broke up with me because he asked god one thing he needed to do to get closer to god and move forward in life and god said to step away from the relationship. My ex boyfriend and I realised that we were both distracting each other and he couldn’t balance work,god and me all at once. Is there any chance that we can get back together because we both want to but he said he needed to trust god with this

I am sorry to hear that, sister. I think you have to accept it to be over and move on. Focus on your relation to Christ and seek Him in this. Easy for me to say... but I have been through something like this, too. And it threw me into a crisis of faith as well. It takes time to get over this, and you should allow yourself to grieve. But don't fall into that trap waiting for him to return. Just continue your walk with Christ and focus on that. And the pain will become less and you will get a new perspective. Remember. God is close to the broken hearted. Try to rejoice in that.
I to had to leave my ex girlfriend because God had directed/spoke to me because she was still married in his sight I remember I had heart palpitations with a voice saying "leave Janie" which I suspected was a warning from the Lord.
That was over 1 year ago and I've been single ever since. God has also taken away my sexual desires I no longer lust after the flesh.
Take this opportunity to get closer to God and don't resent him for taking these steps.

but does that make it right?
if being in a relationship messes up his walk with God
its very selfish to try and get back with him unless God puts it on him that he is ready to marry
i personally stopped dating ten years ago
and its been a huge blessing
only the last few months have i even considered seeking Gods will on maybe finding a wife

My friend, do you know why your relationship worked and what you gave each other?
The long term nature of any relationship is you are better for each other together than
apart.
Sometimes hard times in families, needs to love and real caring is needed, that only comes
from a partner. This was true for me and my wife when we met. Something deep in both
of us worked, and we now have been married 27 years.
But understanding why one loves and how it helps is a good first step.

Also I’m praying for us to get back together and to forgive what we’ve done because we didn’t really put god at the centre of our relationship and we both realised our mistakes. My ex boyfriend said that he’s going to be single until god leads him somewhere. We were happy together and we want to carry on the relationship but hope god puts us together, someone say what I should do for us to be back?

I suspect your boyfriend was trying to spare your feelings and fed you a line of bs... God did not tell him to break-up with you, that's just the best line he could think of (sounds noble). He couldn't balance you and work? 
Possibly a polite way of saying that your too much work (high maintenance). He just wants to be friends, so move on and forget about it. Using God as an excuse to destroy a relationship is hitting beneath the belt.. jmo
