I suspect your boyfriend was trying to spare your feelings and fed you a line of bs... God did not tell him to break-up with you, that's just the best line he could think of (sounds noble). He couldn't balance you and work?Possibly a polite way of saying that your too much work (high maintenance). He just wants to be friends, so move on and forget about it. Using God as an excuse to destroy a relationship is hitting beneath the belt.. jmo
I don’t think he wanted to do it, wasn’t intentional I hope but that’s what I thought that it was an excuse but I really don’t think he can lie about it and using god because god will punish him for it and he’s not that type of person
It sounds like your ex-boyfriend used God as an easy way out of the relationship and is moving forward with his life without you. As hard as it may be it may be best to accept this and move forward with your life as well and not waste your time in anxiety wondering if he ever will return to you. Heartache is always a risk in romantic relationships. I know from experience that the pain is real but in time the pain will subside. One day you may look at the breakup as a blessing from God.

The key isn't in getting alone after something you feel guilty about doing to pay a remorseful penance. The key is in leaning not on your own understanding, and acknowledging His ways as your own, setting aside self-awareness as a dead entity (for that is the truth; the reality). In essence, when we surrender our life to Him He can generate His life in us! Then, and only then, can the boyfriend and the girlfriend prosper you, if that be His will.
The idea of figuring out your love relationship status with a man or woman is figuring out your proper relationship with God - first (with all your strength). You must obey God. The final curse of a disobedient soul is that it becomes a separate, self-conscious individual. Guard your heart against that.

33 Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and then all these things will be given to you too.
Remember then, habits are built up, not by theory, but by practice. The one great problem in Spiritual life is whether we are going to put God's grace into practice. God won't do the mechanical; He created us to do that; but we can only do it while we draw on the mysterious realm of His divine grace. May God give you His life and mind, and may He Bless you with the man He would will you to be Blessed with, and vice versa for Him as well. My prayers go out to you both!

Let's word this more plainly.
How can I get God to follow my will? To give me what I want, rather than me trust His will. Considering the attitude you have about it seems right for the two of you not to be together. Hour internet is in getting what you want rather than discovering and choosing what God wants.
Sometimes God's will coincides with what we want. Sometimes what's best for us is not what we want. We have to trust that God knows better than we do.

I think he's using God as an excuse to not tell you plainly that he is the one who wants to leave the relationship. If God didn't want the relationship there would have to be something sinful about it (like fornication), not saying there is, it's just an example.
Many people are even married, and balance work, God, and their relationship just fine. I would not get back together with him because his heart is not in it, he'll keep making excuses, and a marriage with someone whose heart isn't all in it is doomed from the start. I'm sorry for your hurt. Maybe God wanted it to end because He has someone else in mind for you.

Poppycock! Hubby had a relationship with a woman before me. They weren't fornicating, and yet something was wrong with it. God found a way to end it, thankfully! And since we both still know the woman, hubby was just saying the other day how thankful he was he didn't marry her. (Nice lady. Christian. Just not a good fit for him.)
My ex boyfriend left me because god tests us sometimes so he wanted to show that he actually trusts god, if we both pray then god will fulfill it right?
