Because space is a vacuum and there is nothing in this vast emptiness for light to
illuminate.
Remember in space nobody can hear you scream.
Only objects that can reflect or refract visible light can be seen.
The sky is blue because sunlight is scattered by air molecules, the ionosphere and dust to
display the blue end of the light spectrum above us.

yes: we only see light if we're looking directly at the source or if it's reflected off something.

there's nothing in empty space -- you don't see any reflected light in 99.xxx% of the sky. the moon, the planets, and passing satellites ((when you, the object reflecting sunlight, and the sun are oriented such that you're within the cone of the reflected light)) are exceptions, being reflective objects in space.

why isn't the sky filled with starlight all the time, if the majority of vectors, in every direction, intersect the location of some star?

a few reasons:

• there is a lot of interstellar dust in space. it absorbs a lot of starlight.
• stars are very very far away. objects appear smaller and dimmer with distance, making the vast majority of them too small and not luminous enough for the threshold of human eyesight, even at night.
• brighter lights 'wash out' dimmer ones. hence the sun is ((usually)) the only visible star in the sky during the day, and the further you are away from light pollution, the darker the sky is, and the more stars you can see. the same effect works when two stars are close to each other ((apparently close, angularly, from your perspective - not necessarily close in mean spatial proximity)) the dimmer one is 'washed out' - this is why it's hard to see stars near the moon, and the same is true for dimmer stars near bright ones.
• light travels at a finite speed, and space is vast, and being stretched out. the universe has a finite age, and stars a finite age much smaller than the universe. most stars are simply so far away, and so young, that light from them cannot have yet reached us.

simple. that's a load of tripe, unless you're talking about interstellar nebulae. no such thing.
I have seen clouds go behind the sun and the moon. Look at some pictures of cloud behind the sun and the moon.

So many things I'd like to say, but there's no point.

that's kind of the crux of it lol.

flat earther's seem to be a particular kind of troll that the forum doesn't care enough about to get rid of.

why do we waste our time?
i guess for each other's sake

as the Proverbs say - wisdom, understanding and knowledge are more precious than any earthly thing. so we share knowledge and understanding with each other - all the while knowing that 99.xxx% of the flat-ites have already decided in their hearts to reject such things.

you can learn a lot by finding the errors in wrong thinking, too - which is i guess the 'fun' for me in destroying their arguments. finding the mistakes are instructive.

Oh, I see.
You're not asking a question for the purpose of gaining insight,
you're attempting to disseminate scriptural and scientific heresy via
rhetorical device, with the intent of "enlightening" us stupid round-earthers.
Why do I bother clicking on crap like this?
NEXT!!!
He's apparently just another flat-liner.

uh huh.

((fake uh huh - actually a "nope"))

there aren't any such pictures that are not doctored, and you're either mistaken or lying.

You don't get outside very often; I have seen clouds behind the sun and the moon many times.

The Sun represents the Sun. The Moon represents the Moon. The Earth represents the Earth.

Scratch the word "represents." They are what they are; Sun, Moon, Earth.

They are not representations of the Cross, God, His people &c.

Well, I get out often - and I am a very good photographer to boot who specialises in outdoor photography - and I can tell you unequivocally that your claims are utter nonsense!

No, you haven't. Ever.

At times when there is smoke around here from forest fires it appears that there are clouds behind the Sun, but it is only the Sun's light beaming through the smoke and is a mirage making it appear that way.

del,

just curious, how do you gauge in your sight/mind, if the clouds are behind the sun/moon or before it,
or even even with it?

Behind the sun, well you may have through a large enough telescope looking at a cloud nebula in the distance beyond the sun.

well if you pointed a telescope at the sun, you'd likely be blind.

if you used a solar filter, you wouldn't see anything but the sun -- those filters are darker than the highest-rated welding goggles.

if Del is partially blind from staring at the sun, that would explain a few things - both in terms of how well his sight can be trusted, and how much common sense he has . . . ;)

I believe it is a representation, the Tee post Jesus was crucified on was standard punishment for any criminal sentence to death in those times, Jesus was the light placed upon the Tee post. Like sunlight shining on the moon.

Pilate had a notice nailed to the back of the Tee post and the notice was visible above Jesus on the backside of the Tee post, which today we call it the Cross,

moonlight doesn't come from the moon but sunlight is reflected off the moon, that is why we can see the moon, it is illuminated by the sunlight.

What is your explanation for the clouds behind the sun and the moon?
Proverbs 29:1 He, that being often reproved hardeneth [his] neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

Well, with all due respect bro, you are really reaching with all that.

what I am telling you is the truth, rather you believe what I am saying is your choice, and if you do not believe what I am saying is quite ok, it is not like it is a salvation based understanding, believing in Jesus is salvation based.

Maybe it is more comfortable / accurate to say there is an analogy in these things then to say they are representations

i think i ken what botha y'all are saying
