You do not know titus 3: 5?
I know of the stages of coming to faith.
Realisation of God. Conviction of sin. A desire to resolve behaviour, confession of sin,
repentance of sin, faith in the cross for the forgiveness of sins, acceptance of eternal life,
belief in Christ, following and obeying Christs commands etc.
I disagree with what is bolded.
A non child of God can not desire to resolve behavior, they do not even know what good works are. All they can do is let the law bring them to Christ as they realize they are judged and condemned (conviction of sin)and let them know that there is no way of resolving the sin issue (conviction of being dead because of sin) and that the only way to redemption is by sacrifice (conviction of total helplessness)
I apologise for only addressing the first points but this is a medium for small points, not large
theological discussions.
"A non child of God can not desire to resolve behavior, they do not even know what good works are"
Jesus always talked about Jonah and his sign to Nineveh.
They repented, put on sack cloth and ashes, changed their behaviour and judgement did not come.
When Jonah’s warning reached the king of Nineveh....... let people and animals be covered with sackcloth. Let everyone call urgently on God. Let them give up their evil ways and their violence. 9 Who knows? God may yet relent and with compassion turn from his fierce anger so that we will not perish.
Jonah 3:6-9
So your definitive statement that a non child of God cannot desire to resolve behaviour
is not true, as Nineveh were convicted of sin by Jonahs preaching, repented and changed
their behaviour.
Equally the children of Israel under Moses.
Then the Lord sent venomous snakes among them; they bit the people and many Israelites died. 7 The people came to Moses and said, “We sinned when we spoke against the Lord and against you. Pray that the Lord will take the snakes away from us.” So Moses prayed for the people.
8 The Lord said to Moses, “Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.” 9 So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, they lived.
Numbers 21:6-9
Israel sinned, were convicted, confessed their sin and sought out God for a resolution to
their punishment. And the resolution was the bronze snake.
Again the process was the same. So unfortunately you have not persuaded me from scripture
that your definitive statements are right and biblical. And unfortunately it is there I have to stop,
because if scripture is not your authority, we will never agree where scripture contradicts your
beliefs. So I wonder why you do not believe scripture and put your faith in God and His revelation
as your basis of faith?
