I probably noticed this because I'm a nerd, but... why are all the roofs only in two colors? There is only medium brown and dark grey. Is that the only two colors they sell at the local building supply store?So here I am sitting at my computer with a heatwrap on my leg that expired in 2012... So its now just a lukewarm wrap... I can't go downstairs because its too painful.. Walking with 2 canes to the bathroom which is only about 10 feet away is a form of mild torture ... and its a gorgeous day outside with temps in the low 70's.... Oh the humanity!
(I know, I'm being whiny.. But I'm being randomly whiny!)
Almost guaranteed it's an area controlled by an HOA. Some of them have CCR's requiring specific roofing materials and colors.
That's how the majority of houses are here in cali. They're spanish tile roofs. The main reason is that they're fire resistant and we have dry brush almost everywhere in southern cali and these tiles are made of ceramic or stone (not sure which). And I think its for its cultural llook too.

There are some houses here that have wood shake roofs and when there's a brush fire they go up in flames while the house with spanish tiles next door is still unharmed. And these brush fires can pop up anywhere.
We had one right behind our house about 10 years ago. Luckily it was small enough that they were able to stop it in a couple of hours with about 5 helicopters pouring water and retardant on it. There were homes close to either side of the fire.
And these fires are the work of either arsonists or careless people about 99% of the time. The other 1% is started by lightning strike or something like that. Just when we were having those big fires back in October some dude in a pickup truck was seen throwing lit flares into the brush on the side of a local highway. He had his face covered and he did it at night...

Oddly some people claim the NE corner of Africa has changed on maps. Part of the Mandella Effect. Where it is now a straight line it's considered by many to have been more zig zag, yet people have had trouble finding old maps that show the old shape. One of the only maps to reflect this mass memory discrepancy is from an old 80s cartoon episode of G I Joe .
