I know that rugby is tough, but, CLEARLY............you have NEVER BEEN BLINDSIDED by a 300 lb, 6'5" defensive tackle who can run the 40 in 5.4 seconds.............

your guys wouldn't last a full game against the NFL ............. sorry, a couple have tried (I believe) but they faded quickly

How do we separate sports superstition from true faith in Christ?

God's team forgiven sinners. Some of them even play football.
TEAM JESUS!!

Not sure of all the rules for different types of football, but it's very much like life-- moving a football down a field is like working together as a team to reach a common goal-- the end zone! Even Paul talked about running a race according to the rules, so as not to be disqualified. Same with football.
Women have babies;
We guys have football--

Not sure if there is a consensus on which is a more important job...

In the recent past I have read news articles about the Eagles team being one of the most "spiritual" football teams and how there have been team members baptizing each other.

https://relevantmagazine.com/slices/philadelphia-eagles-player-has-baptized-5-his-teammates

Eagles Tight End Baptizes Five of His Fellow Players Amid NFL Team’s Intense ‘Spiritual Devotion’ – Faithwire

https://www.christianpost.com/news/nfl-team-hotel-pool-baptism-eagles-panthers-game-202874/

So apparently "being religious" is sort of a cultural thing within the NFL and isn't necessarily a true relationship with Jesus for every player. However, I think within the Eagles team a lot of it sounds authentic.

Do you think God will honor that and allow them to win the Super Bowl for the first time ever as a witness??

I don't know anything about the faith situation within the Patriots team, but I'm curious what the rest of you might think or if you can point to other teams or athletes who saw success after a spiritual revival amongst and within them. I can think of a few off the top of my head.

A little mortal immortal observation.

God knows the result of the games, so the suspense will not work.
I am sure He takes delight in His people exercising love, grace and discipline through sport.
Paul used running as an example of our walk with Christ, Amen.

Jesus could choose not to know the result until after the games are played. He's down with the 2 minute warning also. All results are final.

DEU. 29:29.
The secret things belong unto The LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us
and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this Law.

1COR. 2:10.
But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit: for The Spirit searcheth all things,
yea, the deep things of God.

Oh what A Master, A Revealer of Truths to those who Love, Obey, Serve Him in all
humility and granted Grace, Amen...

I am fairly confident that God is concerned with their lives and their eternal destiny......he takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked....as far as football.....I have a difficult time seeing him rooting for any team and or being concerned with the game....on my part....the whole debacle of kneeling has turned me off of the game forever....Grown men being paid hundreds of millions of dollars to play a kids game....I have zero interest in that while the homeless veterans and or sick and poor get swept under the rug......!

well said, DC, with discernment:

and the Roman Arena continues, with the crowds calling for the 'kill'...
rubber meets The Road...

I think a more relevant question is: Does God care about football? My guess, probably not as much as we do. :p

I can’t say I am unhappy with the NFL’s recent loss of viewership.

Up until yesyerday i day I could not even tell you who was in the super bowl. I only know because unsolicited someone told me late in the day.

A lot of us forget how the owner behaved immediately following 9:11. I was living in NY at that time. I knew people who worked down on Wall St. I was a first responder.

Hhe event occurred on a Tuesday. The next day, or the day after ( I can not recall exactly what day it was ) baseball canceled all their games. The NFL owners in all their glorious greed wanted to play that Sunday.

Finally on that Saturday, the players, bless them, told the owners we are not going to play regardless that you want us to, and all the games we canceled.

i have not watched a game since, not read anything about them and turn off the radio if someone starts talking about football.

This, and the way they use their employees, ignoring so many of the health risks , I wish they would go out of business.

I'm old fashioned so I will be at church Sunday evening. Prayer followed by a continuing study in Exodus.

Different food and different fellowship.

This post puts me in mind of the old joke about God being an Englishman. In which case Cricket would be more to his taste.

I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't let political nonsense interfere in my enjoyment of Football. What palyers want to do is their business if I like it or not. All I care about is the product of the field, which as a Giants fan was not pretty. I know this is an unpopular opinion to many of you, so bombs away.
