Context is important. Jesus was speaking to the elect, Israel, not to Gentiles. This group sought a sign from Jesus.

God makes it to rain and the sun to shine on the good and the evil. God in His goodness cares for the elect and the non elect.

Joh 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

For the cause of Christ
Roger
John 6:40 is right after John 6:29. (Sov's verse, since what he said to you to have you say this back won't show up in my response.) So, you are both agreeing it's all on God?

Do you believe anyone is spiritually dead? If you do, then what does that mean?

And, if you don't, then what do you believe instead?

I'm not asking this time because I don't know. And I might even get into preaching my prove-a-point, however, this is more about if we can agree there is such a thing. And if we do, then is there a difference between "spiritually dead," and "spiritually alive?"

Because, in my mind that's something like asking "What's the difference between being pregnant and partially pregnant?" In both cases, you either are or aren't. There is no middle ground!

So, again what is "spiritually dead?"
Im not entirely sure, but just having come to this thread, will read if anyone sees what I think it might be.

Wouldnt this be the time of the second death?

and I still am not sure. But, we all have a spirit don't we? To my understanding, I would liken it to a well that's dry, but when Holy Spirit comes in, water of life flows into us.

So, to be completely annihilated from life, to me is what scripture calls the second death.

Just my thoughts.

The end of wickedness.

Even the ability to believe is from God.[John 6:29]
The crowds that found Jesus on the other side of the lake didn't ask what work God would do . . . They asked "What must WE DO to do the works God requires? Jesus answered, "The work of God (what God requires - context) is this: to believe in the one he has sent. :)

And, the first thing I told you is that we were never going to agree on this one. And yet, now I'm "depleted uranium?"

I'll tell you the truth. I reported you for that one. Too much vile from you. There is no love in you.
Ok....no biggie.....it was not offensive....too bad spiritual immaturity is evident in all who are easily offended....and love and truth go hand in hand....thanks...have you reported yourself for the many times you have ripped people?

Just joined this thread. Spiritually dead to me means unsaved, without God. We all have a spirit but unless we are saved and our spirit yields to the Holy Spirit, we are dead spiritually.

Why do you bring her past up if God forgives her? Why not just forgive her too and give her a blank slate? His mercies begin anew each day and so should ours.

And why defend yourself by arguing that your post wasn't offensive but rather that she is spiritually immature? If you hurt your sisters feelings with smarting remarks, why do you care more to defend yourself as not being offensive than you care about your sister having been hurt?

What's wrong with examining whether we could have been any gentler in our speech or manner? Why don't we feel any sorrow if we hurt each others feelings? And what's wrong with saying we are sorry and could have been gentler and just leaving it at that?

What is so hard about loving and bearing with each other?

The more spiritually mature is the one who can bear offenses without the pride of hurt feelings AND the one who doesn't revile back.

All of this is fodder for prayer. All of our life is now seeing what we lack and then asking for what we need. We don't receive what we need to be more like our Lord because we don't ask and instead waste our time bickering!

I don't believe that Adams spirit died. He just became a physical being without the Presence of God. When we die, our spirit lives, and it doesn't matter whether we are born again. Spirit is eternal. However, destination heaven eternally hinges on being born from above. The first death.

The GWT judgement would be the second death. As I said, just my thoughts. I might be wrong, but this makes sense to me. It's the judgement of works of sheep and goat nations.

Sorry, but Scripture does not teach Annihilationism. The second death is DEFINITELY NOT annihilation. Take some time to study the matter in depth. Start with Rev 14:11 if you wish, but even better go through the Gospels and see what the Lord had to say about this.

I wrote the post to both of you in hopes of helping you both.

If we have hurt feelings, its because of wounded pride.
If our response to wounded pride is more pride, it never gets better, only worse.

When we SEE our pride, then we can ask for what we lack. If we CANT SEE where we are lacking, our prayer is not as effectual, for the good of ourself and our sister, because we don't receive because we don't ask.

If we ask, He gives what we need and the ridiculous patterns change because we change.

You have not heard what I said and think I'm speaking unuseful nonsense. I have great hope that Lynn will see it as useful. :)

Me responding the way I did had nothing to do with pride and I hear what you are saying....my point was simple....the very same people who dish it out regularly will judge motive, say there is no love etc. when one gives it back...I meant NOTHING offensive by saying depleted uranium....and it is not like I called her an offensive name or something...and she judged my motive, said I had no love etc.....it is ridiculous how some will be so offended at something so simple while regularly dishing out heat to those they disagree with...it is beyond ridiculous as a matter of fact......just saying...and regardless of who disagrees, gets mad or upset....being easily offended is a sign of immaturity....and if we being believers cannot handle a little heat from each other...what happens when it gets really rough for ALL believers as we are mocked, ostracized, beaten, imprisoned and or killed for the cause of Christ which is coming soon on a planet near ALL of us........show me where she was included in your post....

15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love
the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes,
and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passes away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God
abides for ever.
1John 2:

But whoso hath this world's good, and sees his brother have need, and shuts up his
bowels of compassion from him, how dwells the love of God in him?

Keep looking, you'll find the place where I addressed her by seeing it couldn't have possibly been addressing you. Although the second part of the sentence was addressing you.

Not going to argue. You can't be expected to see what you can't see.

It is easy to preach a prosperity gospel when you have pay per view seats for a prefabricated message with a million "dolla" smile.....and a fat bank account to boot.....

I said it's just my thought. Actually, it's not that important to me to study.
