I was raised in the dutch reformed church and later baptized into Church of Christ as I have searching for the Truth since a teenager. The more I search the more lost I become. Anyone willing to talk about the differences in Christianity with me?

Christ Jesus is The Truth. He is not hard to find if you look for Him.

The Lord's hand is not so short that it cannot save.

"[SUP]6 [/SUP]But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." - Hebrews 11:6 NKJV

Consider that Jesus is God's chosen Son (Luke 9:35, beloved son in the King James) and Jesus was anointed from his companions (Hebrews 1:8-9). Consider that Father, Son and Holy Spirit (1 John 5:7 King James) is not in modern Bibles.

consider that Paul always starts his letters with God the Father and Jesus Christ the Lord.

Consider that First John requires belief in Father and Son.

Consider that in 1 Corinthians 2, Paul compares the Spirit of God to the spirit of a man.
This is odd because the Holy Spirit can be given while a man's spirit cannot be given.
Another place, Paul says that believers' have the mind of Christ.

Consider that all believers must follow the Christian Creeds or be excommunicated.
consider that all scripture must be interpreted according to the Christian Creeds.

Consider that Jude call Michael an archangel.
Consider that Daniel call the archangel of Persia and Michael, the archangel of Israel who takes over the fight against the archangel of Persia so Daniel's Lord can tell Daniel the prophecy, consider that a prince is the son of a King.

Read Deut. 32:8-9 in a Protestant Bible and a Catholic Bible (New American Bible). The Catholic Bible translates from the Septuagint which was set in stone in 270 BC. The Protestant translates from the Masoretic Hebrew which was finalized in 900 AD.

Read Ez. 28 in the Protestant and Catholic Bible. Who is the anointed cherub in each?

Consider that Satan is called the prince of the world in John.

Read Proverbs 8:22 to the end of the chapter.
created means created but really means chosen and anointed from His companions.
This is the eternally begotten of the Creeds which I think Athanasius meant to ridicule Arius' human begotten (Arius argued that Jesus was human and human's don't exist before they are begotten.) I don't believe like Arius. I point out that Athanasius didn't explain eternally begotten.

If you want differences in Christianity, head for the Bible Discussion forum. That's all they talk about. (And, on a rare occasion, God shows up in the discussion.)

Thanks for the reply. Im still digesting the content. Years ago a person made a comment that God would protect the Truth (in the context of which letters would be accepted into the canon). God would ensure that the Truth be available for the future generations if we are to be judged by it. My question has always been "how can I be sure Im saved?" There are many answers to that question. The most critical of all and few can agree on it. A preacher once told me that "although we might not agree on all things the way to salvation is clear" Is it? Is it believe, a prayer, a change in life, baptist? all of the above? I feel like I want to do them all in case I got it wrong. Some of the best people I know who have dedicated their lives to preach the word of God don't worship on the same day I do. With good reasons. If God had to arrive today surely he would consider their life long sacrifice before He would consider the day I worship on. That said I feel at present that salvation is available to all but impossible to reach.....

the metaphors that believers are the Bride and we are adopted sons and one day will become full sons (Romans 8) give us confidence. (It would be wrong to marry someone then threaten them with divorce upon wakening each morning.) This metaphors show us that loss of salvation is a possibility but is the wrong focus. We are saved by belief and rewarded extra for our works though it is the Spirit working within us. Eph. 2:8-9

What you need is the Holy Spirit - the Spirit of truth

You need a Pentecostal church that is Bible obedient
and starts at the beginning like the true gospel

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you
in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive
the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are
afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
Acts 2:

13 When, however, the Spirit comes, who reveals the truth about God,
he will lead you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own authority,
but he will speak of what he hears and will tell you of things to come.
14 He will give me glory, because he will take what I say and tell it to you.
John 16: GNB

26 The Helper will come - the Spirit, who reveals the truth about God and who
comes from the Father. I will send him to you from the Father, and he will speak
about me. John 15: GNB

15 If you love me, you will obey my commandments.
16 I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, who will stay
with you forever.
17 He is the Spirit, who reveals the truth about God. The world cannot receive him,
because it cannot see him or know him. But you know him, because he remains
with you and is in you.
John 14: GNB

Hence you need a Spirit-filled Church that worships the Father
in Spirit and in truth.

MdB,

Welcome to CC and I trust you will find the truth. God wants you to have the knowledge of the truth and the Holy Spirit will guide you into ALL TRUTH. Believe it.

First of all it is very commendable that you desire the truth with your whole heart. It is unfortunate that you have been disappointed thus far, but don't let that get you down.

You started out with Dutch Reformed which is both good and bad. All the Reformed Churches made Sola Scriptura there motto and their goal, and were also conservative in their beliefs. But unfortunately they succumbed to the doctrines of men. Particularly Five Point Calvinism, which is not really biblical. God does not decree some for salvation and others for damnation, since that would contradict the Gospel.

Churches of Christ are also very conservative, but they falsely believe that baptism by immersion is necessary for salvation. It is however, necessary as a commandment of Christ to be obeyed immediately after conversion.

So what you should do is get serious about personal Bible study, asking the Lord to open your eyes to the truth, even while you use all the legitimate Bible study tools such as Strong's Concordance, etc.. You will find Bible Hub to be an excellent source to help you study. Also stick with the King James Bible, and do not resort to the modern bible versions. They will mislead you.

DO NOT resort to commentaries until you are solidly grounded in the truth personally. And if there is a mature Christian who is willing to help you study, and shuns man-made doctrines, seek his help. Just keep in mind that this is HARD WORK, just like a miner mining for gold or precious stones.

the difference in your life sweetheart will come when Jesus hears your calling-out to Him
with your whole heart - He will never leave you or forsake a true and honest heart that
is seeking His ways and truly willing to 'forsake' the 'world's ways'...then, and only then...
a process, yes, but He knows the roots and core of our hearts, and if we are honest and sincere,
He will respond with His whole Heart, which He gave to us at Calvary in His Holy Grace...

The truth of life:

God Loves His Son, Jesus, infinitely.
God loves us just as much.
God demonstrated His love for us by sending His only human born Son into this wicked world to die in our place.
God wants us to join His eternal family by accepting He loves us so much that He sent His one and only human born Son to die in our place on the cross, and that three days later God's Son Jesus rose from the dead. (Ask Him to come into your life and live through you.)
God wants us to love Him back.
God wants us to reflect His love to the world around us.

These are the most important things God wants from us. Everything else is religion and window dressing. If you focus on learning how much God loves you and loving Him back (and sharing His love with others), you will be living in the truth.

If you think you are you salvation, then, no. You aren't a Christian, and therefore not saved.

You have to know Jesus is your Savior, not you are your Savior. He does the saving. Believing, praying, baptism, and, most important, change of life are the signs that he is saving you. It is not what you have to do to be saved. It is what happens to you because you're saved.

If you haven't been changing to the good, then you weren't saved. And that's not saying you are good after being saved. It's saying you want/seek to be his kind of good because he saved you.

Believing in Jesus Christ and what He did is what saves you, not a denomination.

If you're searching for truth, stop searching in the churches ... First read and learn truth from your Bible, THEN see if you can find a church that agrees with the truth ... So many these days do not ...

And after you believe in Jesus for your salvation, He baptizes you with the Holy Spirit. Take care that someone doesn't try to teach you any extra-biblical nonsense.

good post, Did,

this happened to many times, before we submitted to our Saviour's Holy Words...
