Why are Marvel movies consistently really good compared to DC?

are involved in the screenplays, directing, and creative development of
the comic book characters first created by Stan Lee and others.
Does the same apply to DC?
Although I thought Wonder Woman and the latest Justice League
pretty good efforts.
Also sometimes with Batman and Superman I think film directors and
script writers forget that these are comic book fictional characters not
real life people in the real world.

I can't afford movies, and couldn't sit that long in a movie theater, if I could afford it. BUT I do watch the shows, and do stream the movies if they're free.
DC tends to have degenerates-as-heroes and a constant eye on the underbelly of society. There is no hope from the very beginning all the way to the very end.
Marvel, on the other hand, have heroes with some redeeming qualities. The world is still harsh, and things never go smoothly, but out of all that happens, a little bit of Hope does flitter out of Pandora's Box by the end of the movie. Oh, and they actually make us laugh somewhere along the way.
I have watched one of the Marvel movies. As a nerd I notice things "normal" people aren't supposed to pay attention to, and I noticed a LOT of calculation went into the movie. It was as if every scene, every line of the script had been analyzed by psychologists and tweaked for maximum emotional response from the audience.
Basically a Marvel Action Movie is not about telling a story. It's about making a "good movie" that will please the audience, and Marvel has become very good at giving the audience what they want.

You're allowed to be wrong. (LOL Just kidding. I have a lot of family who prefers DC over Marvel too.)
I think dc just takes themselves too seriously. The only ones that have been good usually either have great action or are more on the lighthearted ends like dark knight or the original Superman.

The Dark Knight trilogy is proof that the problem is Zack Snyder, not DC. But it doesn't help that they are trying to copy Marvel and build their universe on his sub-par movies. DC could compete with Marvel easily if they just gave independent projects to different directors and took risks.
But of course in the age of 10-year sequel forecasting for investors, I doubt they will wisen up.

The cheapest movie I remember in my movie-going lifetime cost a mere $100,000 to make. I can't remember the guy's whole name, but he's a comedian-turned-movie-producer, and he maxed out all his credit cards to do that... and it worked. Made him enough money that he paid off the cards and became better known since. Last name is Townsend.) Superhero movies aren't that! If you're going to spend millions of dollars to make a movie, darn tooting you're doing it to make money. And darn-tooting you want it to be a blockbuster.
These are everyman movies. Let them be everyman movies.

I find the whole superhero genre to be so overdone I don't even care when they come out anymore. They've been flooding theaters with these things for years now.
Not to mention multiple versions of the same heroes and same stories in the name of "updating" the movie. Batman and Spiderman come to mind. I remember the first set of Spiderman movies coming out and next thing you know an all new version is released. I remember thinking to myself "I just watched all this, I don't want to watch it again already". Then they did it a third time. Snore. No thanks, I'll go back to watching Three Headed Shark Attack.

Sorry OP, I agree with Ugly. I feel like there's a bunch of different super heroes and then there are movies where they're in a group, or other movies where they are fighting each other. LOL It's hard to even know which you are watching. Don't get me wrong, I liked a few that I saw recently. I enjoyed Spiderman Homecoming and one of the Avengers...forgot which one.
But yeah it's hard to keep track of them. I don't even know which are Marvel and which are DC.

Yea, i just categorise them as old heroes, justice league and tge likes-dc... new heroes, avengers and captain america (can't remember the rest) - marvel.....

I don't know which are which either. The only recent one I would recommend is Wonder Woman. I was reluctant to watch it, but it got a lot of great reviews. Even with getting sick of superheroes that was a really good movie.
I just saw the latest Thor and Justice League movies, and I have to say... I am usually a Marvel fan, but I appreciate that both Marvel and DC are trying to bring some humor to their characters. There were actually a couple times during these movies when I laughed out loud.
I've never really been a Batman fan, but all the dry, witty banter that Ben Affleck /Jason Mamoa delivered in this latest DC movie might just change my mind.
To me, it makes the characters much more relatable and just a whole lot more fun, which is really what I want when I watch a superhero movie--just a chance to escape for a couple of hours... and be able to see the good guys womp the bad guys in the end.
