I agree with you. There is nothing to learn here, just a few members going back and forth accusing each other of things. Boring. No redeeming value. Complete waste of time.
I wholeheartedly agree that no one is learning anything nor going to change their beliefs here. We have those who "believe" the words in their Bible and then we have those making all sorts of excuses in order to believe something else. Does not appear as though any of that is going to change.

The LORD never mentioned Mose's wife when He spoke to Aaron and Miriam, but that he was more than a prophet, because the LORD spoke to him mouth to mouth. I imagine only Miriam was afflicted because Aaron had some claim to being more like Moses from the time when Moses told the LORD he was slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.
I have wondered why Miriam was afflicted while Aaron escaped leprosy, as all accounts where leprosy is mentioned are in result of speaking evil of another (as the word 'leprosy' translates back into Hebrew as 'evil speaking').

In this instance, it seemed that Aaron and Miriam thought themselves perhaps 'holier' than Moses by the reason of his marriage to the Cushite woman, and forgetting God had not called Moses in any way common to 'regular' prophets (and the relationship being so intimate surely suggest God was not unaware of the marriage let alone any suggestion that He might even be unaware of anything).

Perhaps the judgment, here. fit the crime here in that the evil initially spoken of, and that which returned to them, was essentially against the Cushite woman (considering the eye for an eye sort of principle concerning fitting punishment).

The reference to Christians as "rank and file" rankles me. In general use, the phrase is somewhat demeaning and perpetuates the idea that some are better than others. Is there a more edifying way to refer to Christians who are not among those with Ephesians 4 gifts?

For that matter, are there any not so gifted? The verse says, "He gave some..." so I'm inclined to believe that some are "not". However, that's a matter for another thread. This one has gotten far enough off the rails already.

hmmmm

I doubt someone thinking they are not that rank and file believes they are in that rank and file and can therefore deliberately and with great satisfaction dismiss those they see as...dare I say it...inferior

110 pages, and what has been accomplished? absolutely nothing.

Holy Spirit is the only One who can change our hearts/minds. I say we all leave it to Him to do the work.

agree to disagree and move on.
Finally! Someone I can agree with here

This would also enable the ones who have the actual gifts of evangelist, pastor, or teacher to properly exercise their gifts.
as it is, these are the 'respectful' gifts that many are quick to claim and loathe to lay aside

yet Jesus laid it all aside

something about washing feet appropriate here by chance?

Miriam became a leper because she spoke against Moses marrying an Ethiopian woman.

Also, the daughters of Philip, the evangelist, were prophetess. (Acts 21:9)
I was using the word prophesy like Paul used it. It also means to teach, but I did say prophesy (or) teach. I might as well say preach for clarity.

"Num. 12:2 And they (Miriam and Aaron) said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it."

It's one thing to be angered about his choice for a wife, it's another when they want to usurp his authority over the people because of it. It was just Miriam who was punished by God. Apparently she was the most deserving of his wrath.

As I attempted to note earlier(and perhaps not very well)Aaron had some precedent for being used with Moses that Miriam didn't share(see Exodus 4:10-17). Perhaps this was why Aaron didn't get punished like Miriam-though I'm sure he was afraid to be in trouble with the living God.

My above post is referring to the comments of Dino246. He is the one making the slanderous comments against the King James Bible and anyone posting it's scripture.

"More dogma from a King James onlyist" post 2112

Because, after all, 1 Speculations 3:8 declares plainly that "women may not be pastors". post 2113

Not only are you really missing out, it also explains your dogmatism on so many issues. post 2131
Dino isn't a slanderer. He's a very level-headed fellow. You just keep bulldozing through as is your style. There has been quite a lot of undue harassment regarding more modern translations from KJVO adherents on the site.

I agree with you too, Lucy. How's Aslsn?
Aslan is on the move! He definitely didn't stay tied down to the stone table.

I'm happy enough to let this subject go. As someone pointed out earlier this isn't a salvation issue. I'm not personally planning to Pastor a church or lead a body of believers either. I don't think leadership is my calling or my natural talent, I have no plans to "usurp" anyone.

I think you meant to say those who believe your private interpretation of the bible according to your personal bias, every man has one like finger prints.

Do we need a man to teach us?

You go right ahead and side with your little friend, but you're going to try and tell me that a man posts the word of God and is then told he has no integrity by another man and there is no slanderer in the room. And a man negatively refers unto the Bible as "dogmatic", yet that is not slander and blasphemy of the Bible itself ? Then jokes are made about books and verses in the Bible and that is not blasphemy ? When those are the things a young man is doing, I believe he is asking for some bulldozing.

You're speaking of King James advocates harassing the print of other versions has absolutely nothing to do with me whatsoever. I challenge you to look through each and every one of my posts and find one word harassing any other version of the Bible. You cannot do it, so why do you choose to associate that with me ? I haven't harassed other versions, but I have seen plenty harassment of the King James Version. There sure is a massive amount of falsity and untrue accusations that float around in here. You shouldn't be so quick to jump in and become a part of them.

I'm not accusing you of KJ Onlyism. I haven't seen you post about that. But you WERE accusing another member of slandering the KJB and I know he doesn't do that.

Dino246 just did slander the King James Bible and I gave you clear proof of that below in his very own words.

Anyone slandering a 400 year old Bible, certainly is not standing with God. Whatever hatred one has in their heart to do such a thing, certainly is not good. And furthermore what version a Bible is has nothing to do with any of the verses I've posted here at all. Proof was given that all other versions said the same thing, regarding the verses I posted. So, why slander the King James Version or myself over those verses. It is simply another way for somebody to come up with some false excuse for not following what GOD has told them. Then you sit and defend that nonsense simply because you like one person more than another.

And you still obstinately refuse to read what he said... with comprehension.

He was not slamming the KJV, he was slamming the people who state openly that it is the ONLY "approved" translation. That God personally wrote it and handed it to good ol King James.

You can mis-read it all you want (we are growing used to that), but he wasn't criticizing the KJV, just the folks that worship it.
