Acts tells us the church at Jerusalem met daily.
The churches Paul taught evidently met on a regular basis.
We are taught in Hebrews that we are not to forsake assembling.

One poster on this forum stated he had not been to church (assembled) for seven years.
How many others on this forum fail to assemble on a regular basis?
How many will admit it?
How do you justify your failure?

I for one assemble as often as possible.

Meh.

How do you justify your failure?
You mean my failure to find a church.

I have not found a church that is serving the purpose of meeting together. I have no obligation whatsoever to attend a church that is not serving God's purpose for the meeting of the saints just for the sake of being able to say I assembled with other believers.

If you lived in the south you could easily find a church that preaches the 10 commandments.

Hhhhhhmmmmm no one good enough for you
I haven't come across this excuse before

Problem is God commands us to be in the body of Christ and to partake of the unity of the Holy Spirit
there is no church of one

But can I find one that teaches and encourages one HOW to keep the 10 Commandments?

Nope. Not so easy.

Yep, people who do not follow God's plan and purpose for the meeting of the saints is not good enough for my needs as a Christian. No apologies from me for that.

And I won't assemble together just so I can say I assembled together because God said to do that. That's exactly the legalism the church says they detest. You realize that, don't you?

,Read Acts 7

We are temples carrying the holy spirit within us. Jesus said where two or three of us are assembled there too is he among us.
There's no failure in not going to church. God is within. Not in a building or house made by man.

I get more edification from this forum than I do from attending a brick and mortar church.

Really?
Do you steal? Lie? Why would you think a preacher can encourage you how to keep the ten commands? What can they do that you cannot by reading the ten commandments. You have the holy spirit leading you to all righteousness.

Even when we assemble with two or three in a building, house, or under a tree, God will be there if our purpose is to learn and glorify Him.
No CHURCH building necessary.

You want to keep the ten commandments but not the command to assemble.
Pick and choose, pick and choose.
Not keeping the ten commands is sin but failure to assemble is not sin "accord to the gospel of Ralph"

Going to church is like throwing a log into the fire.

I'm very physically handicapped. So bad lately, I will be going to my brick and mortar church tomorrow in a wheelchair.

I've pretty much always gone to church, except a couple of years I wasn't on good meds, and mad at God. He called me to a little church, that needed me to help with music and Bible studies. I was the worship director. Then, I got on good meds, and got more active, involved with outreach.

The pastor got off track after a bad throw off a horse. So much, that after 2 years, I finally left. I did NOT go and sit at home and pout, because no church was good enough for me. Instead, I found a better church. Then we moved far away, to another province, and I found a church that is about as close to my theology as possible. And so many incredble men of God - former missionaries and pastors, with so much wisdom and demonstrating godly living. Everyone needs godly old saints - they are the praying people, who keep the church on course.

My personal opinion, is that unless there is some kind of extremely serious disabilty (I'm not sure what that could be - we have a huge ministry to severely disabled young people, including bad spina bifida), there is NO excuse for not attending church. We are told to do it. End of excuses! We don't grow without other Christians. Sometimes it is iron sharpening iron. Other times, it is a kind hand, or a caring smile. Or a visit when you are down.

And more important, we are to be sharing the gifts God has given us. I think anyone who thinks the local church is not good enough for them, is guilty of hubris. That is pride, if you don't know it. And since pride goes before a fall, probably best to get up tomorrow, and start checking out local churches. The internet is a great place to discuss doctrine and even meet people. But, local church is always our first prioity. Anyone who thinks it is not, is deluding themselves about God's will for their lives!

" 24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. "-Hebrews 10:24-25

As you may have noticed, this is right from the passage about not forsaking the gathering together of ourselves.

1Co 5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
1Co 5:12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?
1Co 5:13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

1Ti 6:5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness(prosperity Gospel for their wants which is popular today): from such withdraw thyself.
1Ti 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
1Ti 6:7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
1Ti 6:8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

There is a lot of hypocrites, which they are not led of the Spirit, that go by their wants, and hold unto sin, and should we fellowship with them.

2Ti 2:20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
2Ti 2:21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

But then again in a great house there are some to dishonor, so God said there would be some rascals running around, being hypocritical, but it is still a great house, so we should not let the hypocrites cause us to not want to go to Church.

So the main thing is to attend a Church that believes the Gospel of Christ, and believes in receiving the Spirit, and if they hate sin, and do not want sin, by the Spirit they can abstain from sin, and sin does affect their relationship with God, and upholds the holiness standards of God, and obeys Christ, and truly loves people as the Bible says to love people, which that kind of Church might have a few hypocrites, but it will be low key, and the majority would want to do right, or else they would not attend such a Church, and do not worry about the hypocrites for the Church teaches right, for God said it is still a great house.

For anything less should not be acceptable.

But who can find such a Church, for a lot of Churches make excuses for their sins in their teachings, and believe the prosperity Gospel, which neglects the poor and needy, for it bothers a lot of people the condition of a lot of people who claim Christ.
