We are supposed to submit to God before we submit to a husband...AND the Bible also talks about husbands and wives submitting to each OTHER...so..submit or subserviant? One is Godly..one is opressive

My Aunt the younger sister of my father married a single man from the U.S... My Aunt was a single mother of 3 small kids and can't read and write and Uncle Mike was a bachelor serviceman stationed in Philippines. Uncle Mike was maybe a year older than my Aunt when they met. Uncle Mike is a good man he raised my Aunt's kids and love them as his own. They are all living now in the U.S . Uncle Mike is old and retired now but my Aunt is still working she is quite stubborn :D but a good cook a loving wife and mother to her children My Aunt was not a mail-order bride..their love blossomed just like two people who look at each other and both decide that they already find the one 😂

We are very thankful because my Aunt found a good man but I am sure Uncle Mike is very happy also to find my Aunt.

We haven't met him yet because eveytime my Aunt visits Philippines she comes alone...and all her travel expenses are coming from her pocket because since the day she had set foot in the U.S soil she never stopped working..she doesn't have to but she insisted to work because she doesn't want to burden Uncle Mike so much... but she did not compromise her duty as a wife and mother to their kids.

What I wanted to say about getting a "foreign wife" if a U.S man wants to marry a foreign wife please marry because you love her and she loves you not because you can't find a woman in your country or some other reasons because there is no guarantee that you will going to find a good foreign wife always...not all foreign wives are good wives...I personally know some women who married old Americans because of the good life they think an american can give to them...and these women are cheating behind their husbands back and treating them like money machines...caution: it doesn't always work the way you think it is and it doesn't always work for everyone.

Looking for a foreign wife? Here I am!

Oh...
I am from the wrong continent.

And I wouldn't move. Or perhaps I would for the right guy. But the right guy may not want me, or then he wasn't the right guy, after all.

Which brings up an interesting question - why does the "person from another country" always move to the USA? Why does the american never move to the foreign country?

Yes I know sometimes the american relocates. But why does everybody assume if two people from two different countries marry, the "foreigner" will automatically move to the USA? Every time I hear anybody talking about anybody from the USA finding a spouse from another country, the assumption is the non-american will move to the USA.

Because apparently according to Francis Scott Key, USA is the land of the free and the home of the brave.

One Marine Expeditionary Force could destroy New Zealand and Samoa at the same time. Hands down, we are better.

I know very many that has moved to Norway. Even in Norwegian- "foreigner" marriages, foreigner-different foreigner marriages or two from the same country. Yeah. You can say socialism in Norway sucks. You can say that weather sucks. But every country has it's advantages

Not denying that at all, in fact, most people don’t even know we exist - and quite frankly, I’m happy with that.

toinena do they do this in Norway too? If a Norwegian and a (somebody from some other country) marry, does everybody assume the couple will live in Norway? Or is this just an American thing to assume the foreign party will naturally move to the USA?

This is what I think about 50 year old men, who state they are looking for young Filipino brides. Or young brides from any foreign seaport.

They are douche bags, that ain't got a chance with an American woman, or any woman really. They think of women as an object, not a person. Even if they could get a foreign woman to marry them, they ain't going to stay married after the woman gets her papers that she can stay here.

These guys are creeps, who have no business ever knowing the warmth of a woman, and should save their money, to buy a sex doll. Cause that's really what they want anyways. If sexual deviant behavior is a spectrum, these guys are on the same side of the scale as child molesters.

They certainly ain't looking for a woman to love, to get along with. They think they can get away with dominating and abusing a woman from Asia or Eastern Europe.

I love how they go through those mail order brides agencies. They are spending thousands to chat with women, who will never marry them, and are likely already married. Haha. Those women with those agencies get a high percentage cut from the money you spend. It's a job to those women.

Losers, the whole lot of them.

Or maybe they see themselves as American misfits. Have been rejected by american women maybe for looks or not enough money etc and want to find someone that actually BELIEVES in them and are THANKFUL for what that man has too offer? Ive heard of that as well..

Yes. Because it Norway is rated as a very rich and just country and the unemployment rate is under 4%. We are considered one of the best countries to live in, so yes. That is expected for a spouse to move here if it is a mixed couple

Hey Everyone,

One of the recent threads here had me thinking about all the times I've heard men (usually from the USA) talk about how much better it would be to seek a wife from another country, usually because they are frustrated with what they see as a loss of traditional values in the women around them in their own country.

While I can certainly understand their perspective, it often seems to me as if some men see foreign brides, particularly from Asia, as the "last unicorns" of marriage. From the many accounts I've read or heard, it's almost as if many men honestly believe that a submissive wife from another country will fulfill their dreams of wedded bliss, just like a woman waiting to be rescued by her knight in shining armor.

A few years ago, we had a regular poster in Singles who would often sing the praises of men finding wives from the Philippines. I couldn't help but find it amusing that when some of the women here gave some realistic accounts of what a man might run into in his search, he completely ignored anything they had to say and didn't even acknowledge their posts. Apparently, he was looking for a wife who was not only young (he was in his mid-50's), beautiful, and submissive, but also silent and devoid of any thoughts of her own.

Although I grew up in a small, non-diverse Anyville town in the United States, I've had the privilege of knowing a few families in which the man had married a foreign bride. Going back through my memories, I was thinking of about 10 such marriages in which I knew one or more people involved, and in maybe half of those cases, I was close enough to someone that I could ask a few questions about what really went on behind the scenes.

I'd like to share a few pf the things I've observed. To make this easier to read, I'm going to break this up into multiple posts to start off this thread (I'm sorry if that makes it seem a little choppy.)

Now, as I always say, I am, by NO means, an expert. I'm just thinking of what I've seen and heard... AND, this is where you all come in as well--I would love to hear your thoughts, observations, and experiences.

There are probably many people out there who have much more experience with this than me, and I'm hoping they'll share. :)

And so, to kick this off, I'd like to start by talking about those "traditional family values" that are always cited as a prime reason for seeking a foreign wife (please see next post.)
not all men are like that
say for example: if the man is a philosopher, he would want to marry a female who also knows about philosophy as well

I can't answer about men seeking foreign wives. Being I'm not a man. I can comment on family values. It has done out the door in this country. My great grandmother raised me till she passed. Old school. There were southern traditions, biblical ways, and a woman and a mans role. Being it was ranching/ farming community. Women helped and worked with their men. But there still was each others role. Today, it seems to be all about living about ones means, keeping up with the Jones'. Alot of women don't know how to clean a home, let-alone cook a meal. Men don't help with the cleaning up or raising of the children. In all honesty historically men educated and taught their children. Being the head of the household.

I see alot of men quoting proverbs 31 but look past the meaning of the verse.

Moral code, family values, it all seems gone. I would rather have an old fashioned rancher, who sought the Lord with all his heart, (as a husband) than most men I see today. I don't care what country he is from. Today the men you talk of seek a submissive obedient wife. Which is not what the bible calls for. Submissive as in following his lead in the household yes. Allowing him to do with you as he pleases NO. Being his maid and slave no. But many men especially the older generation. Who was raised that way believe that is what they are entitled to. It is rather sad really. Even a foreign women will get tired of being mistreated. There are some who do seek the old fashioned woman, who is modest, can care for her family, who loves the Lord, and is skilled at surviving. Unless you went through the great depression or have been taught country life. Many would not know what to do if they had to draw their own water, grow their own food, cook over a fire. ECT... To used to their modern day comforts unable to adapt if troubles came.

I tried to stay on topic and answer the best way I could from personal observations.

I remember a boy in the time of real letters and stationary. We wrote to eachother about philosophy and deep thoughts. Our favorite subject was Kirkegaard.
