I lived in Maine for 8 years and the typical able-bodied person there does neither. Poorest work ethic I have ever seen, no wonder no company wants to relocate to that God-forsaken place. Besides lack of infrastructure each town is controlled by a town council. These myopic individuals refuse to issue building permits for a business structure to be built. Very much anti-job in that place trying to prevent the landscape or existing structures to change in any way and content to live with the status quo. A young person out of high school or college has no choice but to leave the state to take advantage of economic opportunities elsewhere. It's not surprising that the population has not increased in the last 20 years. Eventually, there will be no workers to stock the shelves at the grocery store or to serve the French fries. I guess that those old people that are still left can finish off the canned green beans that was prepared years before, throw the last log in the wood stove and then call it good. As they also say, "It's gonna be wicked cold this wintah". Ain't that the truth.

Not the same thing. Talking about the 'me-me-me' generation and mindset. You know, I deserve a trophy for just showing up and who cares who wins.
The world has changed a lot and it seems people are just becoming lazy. My nephew is a very bright young boy, but he told me just the other day that he wasn't even worried about his spelling skills or having good handwriting because nobody writes by hand anymore and spell check can fix his misspellings for him.
