It isn't every body else's problem that you can't hear

Do you see this^^^^^^^^
They have said they have no mic room before they should have left it alone, and not removed them, and now I asked for it they said they have had it before, but not anymore, and now I'm asking if they can put it back, and n
**sighs** As others have mentioned, this site is based in the Philippines thus US law has no jurisdiction.

Even if US law did have jurisdiction the rooms would be considered to be ADA compliant since there is the option for either voice or text chat. Voice chat allows blind persons who cannot read text to participate and text chat allows for deaf and mute to participate.

Unfortunately the OP strikes me as one who is not so much concerned with ADA compliance as it is that he wants special treatment which if we set up a text only room then we would have to also set up a voice only room for blind persons and then we would have both groups complaining that no one is using their "special" rooms and threatening to file suits for segregating them.

Back when we still had a text only room (originally all of our rooms were text only) no one used it and of course the couple of users that liked it constantly griped that no one else would join them in that room. Even if we supplied the room, we cannot force other users who don't want it to use it.

Sure, it would be nice to provide additional services for disabled persons but when a site operates on a highly limited budget it isn't possible. Our chat is custom coded and to create a room with special parameters takes time and money that would be much better used in other ways.

In case someone thinks that I am in some way prejudiced against the handicapped or have no heart, my brother-in-law is blind and my wife is also disabled. I am more than aware of and care deeply for the needs of the disabled.
I didn't think about the the blind use voice, and the deaf use text. There is a saying why not both so why don't they just put it back what they had from before no mic room, and honestly I was hoping I find a room that has no mic, and it got removed.

They removed the room because no one used it, so what was the sense in keeping a continually unused room open? It's doubtful that they would re-open a room for only one person to use..

I must be missing something here, because I don't understand you.. You want a no-mic room where you can go so you don't need to hear people on mike. But since you're deaf anyway, I don't see what difference it makes as to which room you're in, since you cannot hear anyone on mike anyway..

Years ago (prior to my joining) all of the chat rooms were text only. Chat ran on commercially available software that as time (and technology) progressed RoboOp customized to add the voice and video chat. Obviously old software reaches a point of obsolescence and the newer commercially available chat software wouldn't allow for user customization so RoboOp custom coded our existing chat from scratch. There is no way for us to revert to a text only chat without him having to completely code that room's parameters from scratch.

The site owner most likely is not going to rebuild a room from scratch, as Oncefallen already said.. And the ADA has no jurisdiction in foreign countries..

Discrimination is at it's finest. Do I need to call ADA lol?

I don't want to do it, but I've done it before once a cop took me to jail for no reason, and threat to throw me in a chair, and I called ADA, and they really messed up the city police, and they never messed with me again.

The police they pulled me over 3 time after ADA came, and I told them who I was, and they let me go three time after.
Please forgive me for this, and I'm sorry for going off topic here, but I am deathly curious as to why the police pulled you over, because:

1. If you actually had to tell them who you are, then I'm assuming that they weren't purposely targeting you, because they had no idea that apparently, you are someone who believes he has clout?

2. If you were driving and they pulled you over but had no idea who you were, I'm also guessing that they obviously weren't pulling you over just because you're deaf, so may I ask again what they pulled you over for?

In other words, were you actually breaking the law, such as going over the speed limit, etc., but were let go because you had previously called in an outside party?

I can completely understand going for help if you were wrongfully accused of something, but what I'm asking is, did calling the ADA help you evade further unjust actions, or did it allow you to get away with something I could not get away with as a "generic" citizen? (Unless I wanted to say I was being discriminated against because of my race, of course.)

3. Finally, in another post, you also threatened to call the ADA on a very long-standing, highly-respected forum member. How does that work, exactly? Do you call the ADA and file paperwork with a complaint that someone disagreed with you, and then the ADA goes after them and slaps them with a giant fine?

I am genuinely curious because if you see yourself as someone pioneering for those who have differing abilities, you're actually painting a picture of someone who threatens legal action against anyone who dares to disagree with you, which you apparently feel is blatant discrimination.

And this certainly isn't because I don't care about about those who are differently-abled.

My point is, we all have something about us that causes us to be discriminated against.

I'm just curious as to how far you work yours.

Having worked with children with disabilities for years, I can appreciate you're position. Unfortunately voice and chat text are intermingled and as a result when you're sitting in text exclusively, because of a disability, people who have hearing challenges often feel disenfranchised from the world of those that don't. I would encourage writing a letter to the owner illustrating the culture the deaf experience when among the hearing and the ways in which this impacts you and many others socially and emotionally. Following this, you could suggest a chat room to be added where there is no mic feature available, in the interim I will be more than happy to get on and do sign language which I'm formally trained in. Consider donating to the site too, to help support your position and see these suggestions to fruition.

I’ve no idea who the ADA is. I’m not from the US and throwing various
threats around and stamping your feet won’t get you very far. Since when
does having a disability, give you the right to be rude to people.

But...if the OP wants to, why not invite deaf Christian friends for a
time specific chat. Say 7pm and all chat together in one of the empty
chat rooms. I’ve been on chat several times and there are always a
couple of empty rooms.

Just invite everyone to use an empty chat room at a specific time.
Problem solved!

Oh and if your thinking. “She doesn’t understand” I do!

I have several disabled friends.
One a lovely lady who sang in the worship team and spoke 3 languages.
She was in a terrible car accident 10 years ago. Her daughter was killed.
She was in hospital for almost a year recovering.

She is now paralysed in a wheelchair. The speech parts of her brain were
damaged, now she can only make whining sounds so is pretty much mute.
Yet she still praises God in church. Still joins in with prayer groups, still
thanks God. She needs a lot of assistance and a full time carer but she
never comes across as anything other than thankful and gracious for what
she has.

I know another person who is almost completely blind apart from vague
shadows and some colour very close up. She comes to church with a guide dog.

Still another who is physically and mentally disabled and in a wheelchair, he lives
in accommodation for the disabled. His carer brings him to church.
He can only make what I would describe as squaking noises, yet
he sings out in church and no one minds.

Another an old friend who had a rare cancer 2 years, it has damaged his nerve
endings, he cannot feel anything with his hands or feet so cannot Walk, hold a
cup, fasten zips and buttons, make a meal, cannot write. He can just about
jab at a button so can make calls and sort of use a swipe tablet to keep in touch.
He has carers who help him 3 times a day and lived in assisted accommodation.

Then there is my own elderly aunt who can’t do anything and relies on me and
carers to do everything.

I’ve never heard any of them complain, or have a sense of entitlement, or moan
and make threats about anything.

Have you tried praying about your difficulties and the way you feel. I can
guarantee 100% that God is far more interested and reliable and trustworthy
than the ADA.

The cop pulled me over because I was driving a very luxury car, and they thought I was black, but I'm white, or they thought I was some drug dealer, or something, and the car I was driving was a Cutlass supreme 1982 302 v8 motor.

They pulled me over for a tag that was crooked a bit, and then pulled me over, and said my brake light was out, and then I found out the cop lied about pulling me over about the brake light cause it was working fine, and the tag being crooked it was missing a screw, and I told the people about it they totally freaked out about it.

I notice if you have a nice car that may look like what black people drive cops love to pull these car over, and they will even lied about it saying there is no brake light, and I got pulled over 3 times for driving that car, and the other time the Cop said I was tail gating being too close to a car.

So I sold that car, and never want that car again it's a cop magnet lol.

THAT is a luxury car?

Where I live (southwest Tennessee) that is what drug dealers used to drive... like, 20 years ago. These days they drive cars with a lot more bling, and that kind of car is what teens buy as their first used car. It's slightly more impressive than a sub-compact though, which is why teens try to get it as their first car.

I don't really care if you're disabled and that is entirely your problem.
