Testing the spirits? Test our own thoughts?

Is that similar to testing even our thoughts, making sure that they line up with the Will of God? We know we are to test them. I also suspect putting on the plate of righteousness is crucial too. We must stay in the word and we must keep praying.

It is my strong belief that whenGod speaks to a person be it via an angel or a dream or a vision or a voice……….the person knows, and never needs to guess. Yessireebabalouie.

Michael translated from Hebrew is One like God.

Raphael healing or healer God. (Not in the Bible.)

Gabriel is the strength of God.

Michael came to the aid of Daniel while Gabriel gave Daniel the prophecies of his writing.

Of course Gabrial appears to Mary and the parents of John the Baptist to announce the births of Jesus and John.

I must admit that if I'm ever unsure of something there's normally a bit of a spiritual fight before I eventually give it to the Lord. It's getting better and these scenarios are becoming less frequent but I need a constant reminder to check my thinking and actions align with Christ.

Testing the spirits is not just about testing thoughts that come up. Its also about spiritual warfare and decerning of spirits.

Can you tell me more? I am eager to examine this more, Demi. Is it just through asking Him, the Holy Spirit, to guide us?

Asking the Holy Spirit is one thing. U will see that the closer u walk w it th Christ, the more spiritual resistance comes. Even if only through dreams. And false prophecy spirits mimic the Holy Spirit to lead us to stupid or bad decisions to open bad doors in our life
So most spirits will try to avoid Christ and not proclaiming him, but trying to exalt deeds for example.
So when a spirit comes to try to tell u to do something u can test it by seeing if it will proclaim Christ as lord

Yes Demi, that works. We can also learn of how He talks to us. Never does He come in an accusatory or belittling spirit. We learn His voice. He is always edifying and confirms His word in all that He says. If we are doing something we know to be wrong, He does get us to think and weigh our actions. I have never had Him to instruct me to move immediately into a major step in faith. He always has given me time to think and test the move. :)

I believe this to be the case.

Usually if it has a sense of urgency in it, like JUMP IN right now go go go do it, then its probably (i said probably) not from God. God is in no hurry, He got all the time in the world.
The devil IS in a hurry though, he knows his time is short and will take a trip to the lake of fire. A permanent one

we should examine personally but also be aware there is plenty of deception out there. plenty

for that matter, there is also exaggerated concentration on the negative which I am positive tickles the enemy for keeping believers so occupied rather than concentrating on Christ

someone once said that the way people are trained to recognize counterfeit currency, is to handle the real thing. actual currency...apparently it has a different 'feel' to it

I have found this to be true. the more I study the real thing..Bible...the more I am able to ascertain whether or not something is of God or not.

the devil is subtle and comes as an 'angel of light' as scripture states, the devil deceives and we are warned over and over in scripture concerning deception

so, get to know the mind of Christ...we renew our minds with the word.

I suspect you know more than you are letting on ;)

Testing the spirits? Test our own thoughts?
Testing the spirits applies to EXTERNAL spirits -- evil spirits and false teachers.

Testing our thoughts means INTERNAL self-examination in the light of Scripture.

I think when we are indwelt by the holy spirit God that leads us into all truth that that inner awareness will lead us to know whether a teacher, pastor, preacher, even self-described Christian on a forum, is speaking truth from a place of knowledge of God's will and word.

1 John 5:1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him.
1 john 2:23 No one who denies the Son has the Father. Whoever confesses the Son has the Father also.
1 Corinthians 12:3
Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says "Jesus is accursed!" and no one can say "Jesus is Lord" except in the Holy Spirit.

Right Lilly, I definitely can see that it would be very easy to test if ppl or spirits were saying things that radical against our Lord and Savior. But i wonder about the elusive ones, ya know?

Yes, I do Charli. Those who are crafty as cleverly disguised wolves clad in sheeps disguise.
Sooner or later I believe they do slip up. After all, how long can a wolf possibly allow its ego to suffer under the weight of what it normally considers prey?

Well I have been a Christian awhile, true. But truly 7sear, even though my dad was a preacher, even though after i got back on track after backsliding more than 15 years ago, so much of what I knew of the word was taught to me by man. It has been in the last years that Jeremiah 15:16 has truly been realized in my life and in my heart. So i so enjoy this platform to be able to pick thoughts on a matter. I often think on proverbs 25:2 and think about how cool it is to seek and find that which He conceals, waiting to reveal to those earnestly seeking. I do 100% get your point about..

I have found this to be true. the more I study the real thing..Bible...the more I am able to ascertain whether or not something is of God or not.

I couldn't agree more, that hit home. I suppose it goes back to be wise as a serpent but gentle as a mouse. Keep the discerning cap on but extend love and mercy at the same time.

So true, like He says the truth will be revealed.

the one person many forget to ask about is themself

23 Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139:23-24

we are actually very good at self deception

I think David got it right

Yeah, lol, good point so unless we are on medication or multi personalities, lol, we know if we are being fraudulent or deceptive, unless it's not deception just misguided, but that is why we need to study for ourselves. I am so grateful for His word.

I was saved very young and there was a time when God made no sense to me at all. and I fell away pretty hard also

that verse in Jeremiah is beautiful. God, of course knowing how awfully I had been deceived by 'Christians' and having His heart full of mercy, also gave me a beautiful verse in scripture that He directed me to. I heard the reference in my mind and turned to it and this is what He gave me:

He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Psalm 107:20
