As long as we have a physical body we are not perfect.
Jesus is the only perfect person who ever walked the earth.
I asked you sir, to explain with the scriptures, what do those scriptures mean, please can you help me explain what you’re trying to say with the scriptures, so I’ll fully understand you.

I did not post the thread title you did, like you say you don’t do them so do not point at others either.
Either I don't express myself well or you don't read my posts carefully. I'm not pointing fingers at anyone -- I just said that NOBODY obeys some commandments of Jesus Christ and my question remains the same since the original post:

Why do Christians ignore some of Jesus' teachings?

Are all of us Christians in disobedience or are we exempt from such commandments?

@Embankment Please just expound with this scripture.. so I’ll understand better, i’m still confused..

Romans 6:6 (KJV)
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Please sir make me understand what this scripture is saying.

I think the church today tosses out much of the teaching of Christ.

Jews who as a race deny Christ, still achieve much more of the world's achievements and goods than Christians and according to many books they put out it is by their works. Tell today's Christians "works" and there is a knee jerk reaction "works won't save". Yet the culture of the Jews asks them to perform most of what Christ led us to do.

Scripture explains this to us. We are told to obey, and from the first laws given we are told it is through works we are blessed. From the first of God's words to us we are told that works won't save it is God who saves through His grace and our faith. They do not oppose each other at all. They work together.

I know someone who gave all he had away, more than one time I blieve, and he was taken care of no matter what, and finally he , like Job, had all returned to him, though he did not seek it. May I add he did not have a lot in the first place or the second place but it came back even more...….go figure and praise God always in Jesus Christ.

Let me ask you the same question. Do you believe this is telling us that we can and should reach for sinless perfection?

I think that scripture points to a state of mind that no longer is comfy in sin, because it no longer is who we are. I think it is this fact that brings sanctification and growth. We should definitely be, naturally, in Him, sinning less and less, finding new right standing norms.

I hope you are ok with me responding.

Hmmmmm, good point. You have me pondering, thank you for that, Brother.
I think we need to read the Word of God its entirety to answer things like this.

We do know that if a man doesn't take care of his own household, then he is deemed an infidel. So now we can ask ourselves... "Should we sell all we have and give to the needy?"

I would hope that this is no longer a question of debate.

This is what happens when people nitpick scriptures without taking counsel of the scriptures in their entirety.

I don't think the 'things' are the issue in the end. It's where our hearts are at. Notice Zacchaaeus didn't give ALL his money away, but gave back that which he robbed from people.

Luke 12:15-21 And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.” Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully. And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’ So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.” But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’ So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

Luke 12:33-34 “Sell what you have and give alms; provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

If money or wealth comes in between us and God and cause us to sin and disobey Him, we must get those out of our lives. This is the true cost of inheriting His kingdom. This parable is not about becoming poor and homeless, and giving all your possessions away.

With that said, We are to be givers of all aspects of our lives to others! Are there some that might be called to do something this extreme in our world today? Very possible, but it's not having the things that are the issue, again, it's our hearts that need to be in check.

BAMIDY BAM BAM!!! This that you had in bold letters says so much...

abundance of the things he possesses

we know when we are being selfish and greedy, we know when we are outside of His will for our lives with regards to giving. Thanks brother and these debate will go on and on my friend, lol, until His final return.

Amen... It's the point that the guy was greedy with what he had and wanted "MORE"... I've always try to live by not holding on to anything so tight that I can't let it go... Just in case God wants me to give it away. We should always be open to the leading of the Spirit to give and let go of anything that already belongs to Him; and that's EVERYTHING!

Jesus told His disciples to sell their properties and give alms; told them to wash (literally) one another's feet; to obey the scribes and Pharisees; perform sacrifices according to the Law; etc. Through His personal example Jesus taught us to keep the Sabbath and observe the festivals.

Jesus said: whoever breaks one of the least of the commandments and teaches people to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven.

The Lord (while He was on earth) also said that only a few will be saved and yet we all seem to ignore it. Why?
With the sacrifice of Jesus, there is no more need for sacrifices.
Using what u have and giving to others is what I think he means with the property. And being ready to leave everything behind for him.
Washing feet is humbling and normal in some cultures. Its about humbling yourself and not exalting yourself over others.
The sabbath is important. Its made for us to rest.
The other festivals im trying to keep up with but its complicated

Why do people ignore the fact that Jesus was born, lived and died UNDER THE LAW which RATIFIED THE NEW COVENANT........<--OF THE WHICH PAUL covers extensively to THE GENTILE BELIEVERS!!!!!!!!!????????
Paul would say heaven forbid. The law was not ratified under the new covenant by any stretch of imagination. the new covenant told us of the Holy Spirit putting the law in our hearts. The first time the Holy Spirit was given to man was when Moses told the 70 elders about the law, they temporarily received the Holy Spirit at that time. At that time of year every year after that it was celebrated at Shavuot, now that date is called Pentecost.

Other festivals are no more complicated than Christmas and Easter, they give us God's plan for our salvation and we are told to observe them in all our generations. God never told us to celebrate Easter and Christmas, those words aren't even in scripture.

Early Christian fathers saying they are just rituals that the Holy Spirit replaces is just another example of ignoring Jesus and Paul also who told us to follow them.

Thanks for answering Ma’am, well the bible is not about what I think, I’m not the author of the bible, God is the author of it, so it is about what He thinks..

I do not wish to impose this on anyone, I also do not wish to contend, because the bible is for edification, for reproof, for correction, which is able to make us wise unto salvation, neither do I want to forcefully convert someone to believe what I believe, it is a matter of choice. I choose to,
God gave us choices to choose from, so also, do I freely allow anyone to choose.
Therefore, what God told us about this, I’ll stick to it.

These passages do answer the question, Not me, God Answered the question(s) already..and also gave us examples.

All in KJV.

Matt 5:48, Mark 6:20, Luke 6:40, John 17:23,

Romans 3:31;6:2;6:6;6:13;6:14;6:18;7:25;8:14;8:29;12:1,2; etc.
1 Corinthians 7:17;16:13 2 Corinthians 5:17;6:6;7:1
Galatians 5:16,5:24-26; Ephesians 2:22;4:22-24
Philippians 2:5;2:12;2:15; Colossians 3:10-12
1 Thessa. 4:3 2 Thess 1:11;2:13 1 Timothy 6:11.
Etc
1 Peter 1:15-16 - This one is a plus.

So if I continue, I’ll bring answers from every part of the scripture, because the scripture is one.

I believe sin is unrighteousness.
I believe in God. I believe He is able to do what he alone can do in our lives.
I believe God cannot lie to us, So I believe He’ll do in our lives what He has promised, because He never fails.

I hope you find the answers in those scriptures.
Thanks 🥰😍❣️💕

In your search engine type in "torahclass.com". Click on archived articles. On the upper left of that site it lets you search. Type in "feasts". It will send you to some very thorough and well thought out articles explaining the feasts. You can rely on the site to give only what is in scripture but explain it thoroughly.

Please excuse me for butting in, but Nimrod fascinates me. There really isn't much in scripture about him, but those who have worked with the deep sea scrolls have learned enough ancient languages to have learned more of him. He was the originator of worshipping the sun and where we get the name for Sunday. I have read something of the nation he established---brutal!!!

A lot of his history is in the books not included in scripture. Constantine, the Roman Emperor who did so much for Christianity. worshipped the sun god. Some of the coins he minted has pictures of the sun god.

If u go to the first page of the thread I posted a video of a messianic jew talking about it.
Nimrod was the head over Babylon and worshipped as a reincarnated sungod in the OT.
It was in his worshio where babies were put through the fire, which is why God talks against putting u4 sons through the fire
