A lot of Democrats feel that the wall is a waste of money because illegal border crossings are at a 40-year low right now
I wonder why it is at a 40 year low, could that be because of the government officials working harder to stem the tide in the past two years?

a wall would bring it to an all-time low.
Agreed, while the numbers are lower the criminal element has increased.

Last month, 20,000 children smuggled into the U.S. 60,000 attempted illegal border crossings

In FY18: 800 gang members were arrested—50% increase from FY17

I wonder how many Americans have to die before the career politicians do their job.

Interesting that 4 prominent Dems approved money for border in 2006, but where did that money go .....certainly not for a wall.

That's a good point... If they are reporting the 40 year low as a single point of comparison - your premise is likely accurate...
I may have misinterpreted that they were reporting a 40 year trend regarding my previous response...

Building a wall is more cost effective than paying the US Army and National Guard to supplement the border patrol agents. The crossings are at a 40 year low due to the policies enacted by the Trump administration.

I honestly can't see any way this can end anytime soon. the shutdown is trump's only leverage to try to get what his base wants, while the dems have demonized the wall so much, if they approve it, all their snowflake followers will lose their minds....
Besides all that, the Democrats hate the president so much they do not want to see him succeed. so much so that they are hoping the shutdown will cripple his presidency. The politicians don't care much who they destroy or hurt, as long as they make the presidents day miserable.

Why didn’t the President just say he was gonna erect the wall and pick up the check as well? Just let the people know that, yes, I’m gonna fix y’all a wall, it’ll cost us dearly, but I’ll erect that wall. Instead he gave the Democrats a chance to punch back...or is it just the president that doesn’t really want a wall?

Both sides want the "Political Football" the wall is. Each of them use it to grow their Financial War Chests, and to gain votes.............. Much like other hot button Issues..........

Sad part is, our lives/livelihood are a game for them.......

The only ones playing the wrong game are the Dems.
Good news is that they are done, cooked...... soon their high crimes and misdemeanors will be made known.
Hopefully the U.S. will survive the coming storm!

I guess you could say that if we were talking about Alabama and Auburn, but American politics is another story.

Both sides are a casserole of felonies and tantrums, and if the dirty deeds committed by both parties were made known...it probably wouldn’t change a thing because we’ve had to choose between two crooked parties for ages and we’ve still been casting our votes.

The wisdom of this world is foolish. On purpose God will make sure anybody who forsake His prescribed order of victory over sin, the world, the flesh, and the Devil, will look foolish (Rom. 8:2; 1 Cor. 1:19).

Satan does not respond to natural weapons. No one can bargain with Satan. Every effort is in vain. The one who attempts to do business with him will be 'cast down.' Satan is very successful at making that which is ugly seem beautiful; that which is wicked seem righteous; that which is evil seem not evil; but behind "his face" is terrible destruction (Job 41).

The democrats and republicans each faction is deeply committed to its ideology beliefs, and feels it would be corrupt to abandon them. Even if it means closing the government, even if it means creating economic hardships for hundreds of thousands of furlough workers. Pride is the sin that God hates more than any other sin, "a proud look" [Proverbs 6:16-17].

For the majority, I would agree, but there actually are a few on each side willing to set aside partisanship and work to find a compromise. However, their numbers are too small to have any real impact on either the House or the Senate.

Oh what a terrible, tangled web they weave as they continue us to deceive

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the Government shall be upon His Shoulder: and His Name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isa. 9:6
(The phrase, "Government on His Shoulder" refers to the coming Kingdom Age, when Christ will rule and reign over the entirety of the Earth [Dan. 7:13-14; 1 Cor. 15:24-28; Rev. 11:15; 20:4-10])

Jesus Christ is the only solution to every problem, situation, and concern. He is the only answer to every question, and the Grace for all things that are needed. Praise God, Praise God.

Actually the sad thing about US politics is that quite often a highly vocal yet small minority drive the agenda.
