If I am wrong. Why then nobody could provide me a Proof from the churchhistory that fulfilling with the Holy Spirit is connected with speaking in tongues? That speaking in tongues is a sign to be baptised with the Holy Spirit. ?
At least some evidence should be there, but is not.

I do not deney that speaking in tongues occured in Special Groups, mostly ore almost in sects/ Cults.
And near awakening movements. But this is no Proof that this was ever taught in the church. Ore from founders like Calvin, Zwingli, Luther, and so on.

look, I believe CS1 might have given good info with regards to historicity regarding tongues...pretty sure someone did

seek God and ask Him to show you. that's what I did and many others have done the same

two things I have seen...

1. many are proud and say 'I will not speak that garbage and sound like that'

2. some are fearful and so do not ask even though they say they believe

by now, after all the years, it is 2nd nature to me and I thank God for His gift and whatever else He decides to bless me with

the Holy Spirit is likened to the wind in scripture. can anyone make the wind stop or even start? besides Jesus

haha

I don't like proof reading my posts before posting for the most part unless it's long...or a link to something...so I read fast and go back and correct even several times if I have to

on a few occasions when I didn't make the wire, I would repost with my correction

it's a good thing some can't edit after 5...that would be used the wrong way...but I think mods can still read the original? not sure

Same with the Bible,if he reads it correctly he wont have a leg to stand on.
Honestly, to a point I can't blame people for mis-perceptions. satan goes to great lengths to muddy the waters. But there comes a point where they are just being obstinate and stubborn. That I do blame people for.

the problem with your premise and presupposing is the gifts of the Holy Spirit are only in “charismatic circles”.

The Book of Acts which is the word of God and foundational. TWO you lack of church history of early “Church” where the Gifts were documented by :

Lutheran

Anglican

Methodist

And many others. The idea that Christian sought cults or pagan practices while calling on the name of the Lord is foolishness. even the 1906 Movement known as Azusa Street the resources used to speak about the gifts of the Holy Spirit and what is known as the Empowering of the Holy Spirit were all from Mark 16, Acts 1 & 2 chapters and 1cor 12-14. Never was any cult used or pagan . That was interjected into the experience by those who were ignorant and unlearned. The Holy Spirit was empowering and the fellowship was growing so false narratives were created to scare people from going to these fellowships. Great mission out , preaching of the gospel, and millions saved. Many Pentecostal groups today are highly respected and visited by other evangelicals and fundamentalist Christians today. The assemblies of god, four square and others. Member ship and power evangelism and outreach like Teen challenge 70 % success rate all glory to God. Member over 60 million.
nonamemagee; you better shapen up, and be careful. This man is telling the truth, about the Gospel. If you keep spewing all your false teachings on here, as calvanism, they do not like this. Why don't you at least have some respect for people on here, and for the Loving, kind Holy Ghost filled moderators, you'r just a gamer, and shaming Christian Chat. Or an X fired teacher, who is disgrunted about it, and giving X s out. The truth of this matter, and that I post things just as many do from the Word of God, and you dishonor it. WHO Do you think you are. I think it may be time to report you. Your set minded and with a few of you, which might be you the same, in a different chat name, display this same character. There are some people who were banned and come back just to torment CC here. Things are from the HOly Bible are you dis honor that?

Gotta love the "I clearly do not know what happened", but you do.....heck with that type of logic we can make the bible say anything we want............

I can read just fine.....and if we cannot make logical conclusions based upon what is given....NO ONE understands anything......!
I am not saying I fully know but I can say

if your logic is carnal you will not have spiritual understanding. it seems you need to reduce the supernatural to explain to those who do not agree with the Unrestricted God of the Bible. To grope Human intellect and have an explanation of scriptures were God did something powerfully in the lives of those in the early church. That we see mockers and scoffer each time human understanding was not groped.

CS1 gave no single proof.
He mentioned what I already said: mostly heretic groups and cults where tounges occured and along with revival meetings ( mission actions )
But you cant tell me a Church where this was taught, what I asked for.
But maby you count Cults and heretic groups as regular christians.

that is not true. You say I have not provided proof is foolish. You have not provided one thing to disprove my post of Church history and those men. The only thing you did was say: "CS1 gave no single proof." "He mentioned what I already said: mostly heretic groups and cults "

really?
Let's throughout the baby with the bathwater. Wolfint says there is no proof because he said so. called all the men mentioned on my list as heretic groups and cults. Yet you did not provide any information to support your claim. Then accuse of that. what a joke.

a long time ago now, a group of teen agers asked to see a miracle...I was only a few years older...

I told them to come with me and I would show them one and I felt impressed by the Holy Spirit to do so but did not have a clue what would happen

well, I told them to close their eyes and raise their arms and invited them to follow me in saying a prayer to accept Jesus

every one of them did so...and a few started to cry but every one was super quiet

one guy in particular, really started crying and soon he was also speaking in tongues....praying...with his arms upraised and tears flowing down his cheeks...he just went with the flow of the Holy Spirit!

I don't know how many continued, but God does and I said the miracle was the new birth and explained it

I would not think to do that on my own, but the Holy Spirit really impressed Himself upon them and me too! the Spirit of God does give you boldness to witness and does draw people to God

That is it in a nutshell. There is no doubt that was the leading of the Holy Spirit. I can tell over the years of things I would never do of myself but the Holy Spirit led me so strongly to do so that I obeyed. And there is no doubt in my mind that it was the Holy Spirit.

I recall we sang in a church years ago that didn't believe in tongues. After the service was over and people had left we were invited to a room behind the stage. We walked in and people were praying and talking in tongues!! They didn't want to upset the unbelievers so they hid and prayed together. How sad they felt they couldn't share with the whole church. I'll never forget that church.

Chrysostomus, Augustinus, Calvin, Luther, Geroge Whitfield, Jonathan Edwards taught that the sign gifts hat ceased.
You mentioned groups like Montanists, Irvingians and a German Groups in the Time of LUTHER in Münster which where heretic groups and not Really useful to claim that speaking in tongues where in the Church during History.

Hey bro

Could you give me that chuch history post? I'd like to see it.

As for what wolfwint said: Everyone is a heretic according to SOMEONE. So being called a heretic by a catholic for example, isnt anything to be taken seriously.
