IT clearly says in verse 2] thus saith the LORD, learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.

Hello nadina and welcome. I don't know where the Christmas tree tradition got started, but the text from Jeremiah doesn't seem to have anything to do with the way people celebrate the birth of Jesus today.
its not about the celebrate of the birth JESUS Christ, JESUS came on heart for us all we must celebrate by giving glory praises worship giving thanks if he didn't came here we wouldn't save we r to thank GOD for JESUS
Not sure at all if that verse is describing decorating a Christmas tree, most people that do this use artificial trees and don't use actual silver or gold in decking the tree out. Besides this, we have already had our pagan Christmas threads for the holiday season but there will be the pagan Valentine's and Easter threads coming up next to chime in on. The tree have nothing to do with JESUS we r to celebrate the birth of JESUS he came on earth to save us the world we as believers who repent of our sin on got save he the reason why we r to give thanks on glory praises on worships forever on obey him he is a example for us

Of course, the trees themselves have nothing to much to do with Jesus but help in setting the mood for quality fellowship with family and friends.
