Yep, Yep....I used to be a real regular in chat. Found myself being there too much actually, and there were things about it dragging me down, so I made the break. Now I just float around here on the forums a bit. :)

In the console of his car, he found about $18 and change.
Wow, great story...that's like a month's pay for me...who keeps that in the console of their car? With what I usually have in my car, I'd be able to take a date to Taco Bell to eat off the dollar menu...one item, that is. We'd have to split it. But, she could have all the taco sauce packets she wanted. Nothing is too good the future Missus Pooch...

I'm sorry, but I just HAVE to say it again.

NO WONDER we're all single. :D

Nuke's date would get an entree of taco packets and a side of plastic grocery bags, seeing as he puts those in the fridge instead of his food (reference to another thread...)

LOL!!! I am gathering ideas for a possible future thread... "What Is the Proper Amount of Time to Spend Listening to a Date Play on His Huge Drum Set? (Or Electric Guitars, etc.)"

Well, if you're actually dating a drummer, a normal date would probably consist of sitting on the concrete floor of the rental storage garage watching the band practice, then riding around in the drummer's car while he delivers pizzas...

Drummers generally have less money than I do...and that says a LOT.

~deeply bows~ Thank you. I AM an original.

I know...right? LOL You would not find that much in the console of my car either. He had a very good job, and a very nice company car.....but unfortunatly after date # 2 I realized a very large ego too. :(
Such a shame, since he was so creative turning a unplanned mess into so much fun and we had such a great time. (I declined him for a third date).

Make dinner at one of your homes and rent a Redbox (@ only a $1 its worth it)
Had to google Redbox.......think the English equivalent is a bit more expensive, so looks like it's the single life for me, haha. :)
Only joking, I know what your saying, I think a relationship can be so much more blessed, if, even though your not spending loads of money you can still have a great time! Lets face it, if you get on well with someone, the kind of restaurant you go to isn't that important.
I knew someone who would spend loads at the start of a relationship, but just wouldn't be able to keep it up. There's nothing wrong with spending more, but if a big part of your relationship's based on that, it's generally pretty shaky until you can get past that.....of course every situations different, and a wealth in Christ is more important then materially. Again of course there's nothing wrong with material riches, as long as we use them wisely, and serve God with them.

It is my opinion that the man should pay. If he chooses to date a woman that has kids, and he thinks the relationship could end up ibn marraige then these kids will be his someday and he needs to be ready to take care of them too. So if he cant pay for them on a simple date then he needn't be trying to get envolved with an already made family.

(sorry if I offend you. It is not my goal but I have some strong opinions about family and traditionl roles in a non traditional world)

Hmmmm...I would think that whosever idea it was to invite/include the children in the outing would be the person who should volunteer to pay for them. That way there's no guilt trip on anyone. If it's your idea/your children and money is tight (as most single families find), maybe it would be a good idea to make it a dinner at your home or a picnic or something...maybe even a pitch-in event at your church.

Or something that's fun, but there's no cost involved. My stepdad took us fishing a lot before he married my mom. It was pretty cool. (But no guys have taken me fishing since I accidentally dumped a box of bait crickets into the boat *sigh*) Sledding with my stepdad rocked too. :)
I absolutely agree that you should wait until you see that a relationship might be going somewhere before you introduce someone to your children. It's tough on children and the new person in your life if they come to care about someone and things don't work out. Just another way to protect your kids.

But what if no one invited the kids...they just showed up because they're hungry? It seems as soon as food is served, kids show up to eat it...and I don't even know whose kids they are.

That is so true. But only for older kids. I wouldn't expect a 5 yr old to show up out of no where to a dinner date. "Hey daddy! I rode my Big Wheel. I'm hungry too."

I saw that and just read cricket, thinking you'd unfortunate enough to attend a match on a date......anyway, if I could take a girl to a 5 day cricket test match, and seal a next date after that........wow, she'd be a (wicket) keeper. Just think baseball, but generally more sedate and English
