I think they are entertaining, but they are definately just a group of weirdos in my eyes. They are obsessed with one particular sin and charge almost everyone with it.

I read the story recently of a lady who went to that church.
Brought up in it.

Basically she said something along the lines "When I started to question what they taught I came to realise all was not well, when I questioned I was set upon, eventually I managed to get away from that cult"

I say that any church who preaches God hates people, or categories of people who have a particular sin habit are so far removed from true Christianity.

John 3:16-17
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

No caveat here when it comes to love.

Tax collectors in Jesus day were hated.

Yet Jesus says to Zaccheus

Luke 19:5-10
5 And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house.” 6 So he made haste and came down, and received Him joyfully. 7 But when they saw it, they all complained, saying, “He has gone to be a guest with a man who is a sinner.”
8 Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold.”
9 And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham; 10 for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

Jesus out of love came to earth for all sinners, to die for all sins.
The reason as I say is out of love but because God hates sin and not people.

Yes speak against sin, warn people of the consequences, both temporal and eternal.

I’ve seen documentaries about them on TV and from what I saw,
they pretty much meet the criteria for a cult. Any church which
exerts brain washing control other its members like that, isn’t a church.

But whether or not it was an accurate portrayal or not, I don’t know.

I dont think their protest signage is right or even biblical. 'Fag' isnt in the Bible but maybe they used that term cos its short and fits on a sign.
Whether a specific word is or isn't used in the bible is irrelevant. What the word is understood to mean is the point.
Their use of 'fag' is clearly meant to be derogatory. It's most typically viewed as a derogatory term in general. The length of the word is not the reasoning. How about some of these signs they have carried...
'Thank God for dead soldiers'
'Planes crash God laughs'
'Destruction is imminent'

There are some very serious issues with WBC. Their website is godhatesfags.com and they have numerous hate messages which they are sending out as found on their web site:

"WBC engages in daily peaceful sidewalk demonstrations opposing the homosexual lifestyle of soul-damning, nation-destroying filth. We display large, colorful signs containing Bible words and sentiments, including: GOD HATES FAGS, FAGS HATE GOD, AIDS CURES FAGS, THANK GOD FOR AIDS, FAGS BURN IN HELL, GOD IS NOT MOCKED, FAGS ARE NATURE FREAKS, GOD GAVE FAGS UP, NO SPECIAL LAWS FOR FAGS, FAGS DOOM NATIONS, THANK GOD FOR DEAD SOLDIERS, FAG TROOPS, GOD BLEW UP THE TROOPS, GOD HATES AMERICA, AMERICA IS DOOMED, THE WORLD IS DOOMED, etc."

They are also committed to Five Point Calvinism, which is a False Gospel.
Apparently they are preaching the ol' time religion of bigotry and hate.

I was not even going to touch this thread, but then decided to say....

The idiotic and moronic way they stand on the corner and spew hate in the manner which they spew it devalues Christ and gives Christianity a bad taste in the mouth of many!

I never thought about how the Bibles prophets came across to people when preaching Gods message. Does anyone know if any of them were screamers?

Nevermind whether it would be classed as hate these days.

Is it Biblically true?

Basically everybody on this thread so far has concentrated on how they deliver their messages and not on my actual question, which is whether what they say is true or not Biblically.

God is angry with the wicked everyday...thats scriptural. But what they present in their signs is not the Lord that we believers know.
If they ever put God is Love or Jesus Wept as their banners, maybe. But they misrepreent who He is.
His banner over us is love.

Why not read the Bible and find out? You are smart enough to open the Bible and read , I would think you can find out for yourself! Ask God if you not sure. Be a berean...as with any teaching, search the scriptures daily to see if these things are so.

No they are not biblical....what they say is not biblical. They are radicals under the guise of christianty. They are a picture of Moses striking the rock.

If you can show me from the bible two examples that are comparable to the way they deliver the message
If you can show me two examples from the bible where we are told to hate as they do
If you can show me two example from the bible where we are commanded to condemn soldiers

etc.

I absolutely do not agree with gays, lesbians, baby killers etc.......but there is a right way and a plethora of wrong ways to deliver the message of God...we are told to preach the word, not preach the embellished word...........that is my point and the odds are in favor of the fact that they, in the what they say and how they say it probably leads to zero converts and probably drives more people away than it wins to the truth and also taints the name of JESUS, his reputation and makes Christianity look foolish....

No matter how truthful we may be at the end of the day CHRIST is the one being judged at the end of the day by our words, deeds and actions.....

Promoting hatred and distorting the Gospel is not entertaining. It is devilish.
Eh... I doubt anyone takes the westboro baptist church seriously or considers them to be representing Jesus in some way. I dont know of any atheist who considers them true christians.

They are a circus show.

It is possible to say something biblically but the delivery is not in a true spiritual sense and is therefore ineffective.
