After viewing a number of threads defined by the title of this one I've had to conclude that there are a few types of individuals that post them. I've made a quick list of possible types.

1.) Trolls. Trolls generally self-destruct rather quickly, resorting to the kind of childish behaviors found on elementary school playgrounds.

2.) The Mentally Ill. These folks often hold their own for extended periods of time, and usually just disappear out of the blue for no apparent reason.

3.) Demon Possessed? While some, perhaps all, of these may simply be a part of the aforementioned category, I believe there are at least a few of these here.

To conclude my initial post, I'll note that these are just my tentative thoughts about a small minority of folks here.
I've often disagree with some here, but we can usually agree to disagree, or at least ignore each other. The peeps in my three categories above aren't usually so easy to deal with, and are often incredibly prolific in both posting and spreading hate and dissension. Anyway, something I felt strongly enough about to start a thread on the subject.

We all need Jesus. Some days I need Him to steer me away from the harsh response I've drafted.

I understand that people get passionate about certain topics. Some of them, I believe, are called by the Lord to particular ministries and their passion is a reflection of that. Perhaps there is some of that calling even in those who handle it the most poorly.

Of course, none of that applies to people who are actually in the three categories you describe. Perhaps there needs to be a fourth? That of "Work in progress". As long as someone has trusted in Jesus for salvation, God is at work in them. I had a lot to learn, and a lot of hurt to let go. God has been faithful to me... setting me free from my past junk, and occasionally pointing out an area that still needs His attention. I'd like to think that the individual to whom you refer may be one conviction away from humility and gentleness. It might take more, but God's in charge of that.

In the meantime, I see nothing wrong with firmly disagreeing with the "stuff" that he spews, and telling him that he needs help. :)

I agree that there should have been a fourth category, and realized it a little too late after I submitted this. And actually, this wasn't necessarily about the most recent person alluded to, but more of an epiphany about all the online interactions I've had over the years. I think the most important thing for all of us to be mindful of is this: Communication is inexact even face-to-face, and we all should probably spend more time trying to be sure if someone actually meant to write what it seems like they were trying to say.
I know that sometimes I've read some of my posts and realized I probably seemed to be saying something completely different than what I actually intended to convey. And it doesn't help that I write my posts on a cell phone with a cracked screen. God help us all to learn how to better communicate in all situations, I pray, in His name, amen.

Trolls usually don't last long.. They get bored pretty quick..

The insane.. well people eventually stop responding to their posts.. Sometimes this causes them to leave.. Sometimes they don't seem to care if no one is responding..

As for the demon possessed.. I am very careful not to accuse anyone of that.. But yes where ever Christians fellowship satan will send his servants to spread doctrines of demons and sow discord between brethren..

Use the report button or place on ignore if the poster is really being offensive.

When Jesus was getting annoyed by all the things Peter would say without thinking, he just rebuked him and said 'get behind me satan, you are an offence to me, for you savour not the the things of God but the things of men.'

Lanolin, bear in mind Peter was protesting about our Savior giong to the cross, very specific and a lesson to us all to savor the will of our Father always. God bless you.

I think you forgot the category of the self-righteous Pharisee who posts practically entire chapters of the Bible to support their religious judgment (cyber bullying) of others.

Why not just post the entire Bible on here for everyone to read. That could be project for someone. Everyone can take turns to do a chapter.

I think there arent enough fun Bible threads, although I did post one about funny stories in the Bible only to be shot down cos some people didnt think it was funny. Lol.

I haven't really looked at it, because it had like 400 pages before I even joined, but there is a current thread in this forum called something like, "The Bible, Verse By Verse." Maybe that project is already underway.

Probably the main reason I made this thread is because I probably sometimes resemble each, or maybe all of these categories together-at times. I've learned to laugh at myself. That way, i'm constantly amused.

I think there is a through the bible verse by verse thread-though I never looked at it to be sure. They could be arguing about inside versus outside diameters of drinking straws by now!
