Just don't expect me to be the type of nerd who's actually smart. My vocabulary doesn't extend all that far -- you'll find me using the same words over and over again -- and there are only a few "really big words" that I can remember, let alone attempt to use.

"Dichotomous" has always stuck with me because I can relate to it, and I love the idea of being two conflicting, or even opposing things at once.
Well since your Korean then English is not your native language so no one should expect you to have a huge English vocabulary.. Your English is very clear and well done Seoulsearch as a non native speaker you are very very good at English as far as i am concerned.. Very impressive..

Your story makes me wonder, what exactly is the cross over point from looking to lusting? I’d say I have a healthy libido, but does that mean I need to wear a blindfold at the beach or avoid it all together? If I can appreciate God’s artwork, without debased thoughts, is that ok? Girls, you can’t tell me there aren’t some men who are easier to look at than others. Is it equally sinful if a girl does a double take? In all honesty, when I really think about it, I have to laugh at the uncontrollable attraction to organic baby food containers for some men.
We need to acknowledge that sin to God and if we can take steps trying to lessen the frequency of it happening.. But once we are saved by Jesus we are covered by His atoning blood each and every time as long as we do not try to justify ourselves by making excuses.. Zero resistence to the conviction of God should be the policy.. If we sin then admit to it right away and all will be well for us..

I think the point I was trying to make with the story (and I could be wrong) is that choosing to pursue (rather than involuntarily reacting to the stimulus of) an illegitimate pleasure is where things go wrong. So by all means go to the beach, but go because you want to enjoy swimming or suntanning or playing beach volleyball etc, not because you want to ogle scantily clad ladies (even if they're dressed like they're desperate to be ogled at).

And yes if a lady is going to the beach just to ogle guys in speedos then that's just as wrong.
Well said..

You may have made an unwarranted assumption here.

Hi Adstar,

Thanks for the vote of confidence--I really appreciate it--but English actually IS my native language so what you see is all I've got.

If I were to learn another language, my first choice would actually be Spanish. :)

I'm not gonna click any on the poll ig cuz idk lol but i wonder most of the time when i hear it it's an excuse which is sad really. But i can't argue that i am and other guys tend to be visual people. Of course appearance isn't everything but I'd bbe lying if i said i didn't care at all so maybe shame on me ig. I also draw a lot so i see a lot more then most people would notice at first glance plus i just pay a lot of attention to details, but thats not just to women but people and myself in general. Like i got in a fight with ma step dad guy and it messed up my eyebrow so it's slightly different then my other eyebrow and i hate it lol. But pretty pictures without any background or personality are boring so you can't just be pretty. I've known a couple girls who were like hawtt but were just jerks so i couldn't like them it's like their face got uglier everytime they said something, but even then it affected the way i saw them so it's kinda interesting. Maybe it's by design or maybe I'm just a weirdo idk tbh. I do know that I'm not just gonna marry some chick cuz she's cute tho, or even cuz she's fun to be around because charm is deceiving too, we tend to forget that. Being visual definitely doesn't excuse any issues with lust in any form but i will say that maybe if you know your bf or something is visual put some clothes on 😂 nothings worse then trying to be pure when some girl you like wears a something extra. Seriously tho i think the Bible says a lot about men being visual when it makes it priority for modesty in women so they don't make men stumble, that doesn't justify it ofc but still. And for all the guys we really need to stop being idiots and get over the whole lusting thing in any form, I'm sure it would make us mad if our girl kept taking second looks at dudes or something. And don't make excuses about it it's just stupid at least admit you're an idiot cx

Ya know, after reading through all the stereotypical analogies posted by everyone, I’ve come to the conclusion that we are all just commenting based on our own personal experiences. I had to laugh at some of the over generalized viewpoints. :sneaky:

In truth, “the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world” pertains to everyone. (I John 2:16) We are all without excuse. Women are as susceptible to lust of the eyes as men, so says the Word of God.

I don’t think being initially attracted to someone, whether because of their looks, their voice, their gaiety, their intellect, their talents, etc., is wrong per se. But we all just have to beware that we don’t pursue a relationship based on lust. In other words, don’t base somebody’s worth on what we can get from them, because that’s what the world does. Children of God walk in the light of Christ Jesus and love others as He loves us.

Stereotypical analogies posted by everyone? I don't recall posting any of those...

For the record I know that sounds argumentative, but I couldn't think of any other way to phrase it. But I did want to question it because I'm getting caught in the broad-brush of "posted by everyone."

Just replace the word "everyone" with "some", dear...... The Queen's English is my second language, Ebonics being my first. In my hood, we use da word "everyone" when talkin 'bout a group of people, as in, "Everyone gone be there." ;)

God made men with two eyes, so in that sense, God made us visual. He also made men with a brain, so in that sense, God made us to become intelligent and gain some common sense. Sadly, many of us will never acquire one, or the other, or both.
To use a tired cliché as an excuse to act like a horny teenager is sad.
;) Women are not cyclopes, God gave us 2 eyes also.

Of course, and there's nothing wrong with admiring God's various creations. Believing that we HAVE to go from there to lusting is not only untrue, but indicative of a weak mind(or a brainwashed mind).

I think it's just a habit that most of us have, of using the word everyone-even though we may not mean everyone.
