Recently I came back to the SDA Church after many years away. I guess you can call me a prodigal son. Though I would start by reading the Quarterly daily and attending Sabbath School at my local Church as often as possible. Hoping to find other SDA members around the world who care to share thoughts and testimonies regularly not just on Sabbath. Today June 5, 2019 topic is: "Conflict, Abuse, Power, and Control" The heading reads: Sometimes unresolved conflict and anger may develop into a very negative, destructive dynamic, even an abusive relationship. Abuse can take a number of forms - physical, verbal, emotional, psychological, sexual, etc. But every form of abuse is contrary to the central principle of God's Kingdom - unselfish love. What ? crucial teachings about relationships are found in 1 John 4:7,8 and Colossians 3:19 ?

I see this is your first post Cominghome. Welcome to CC. I hope you'll enjoy your stay here. I have been a seventh-day Sabbatarian since coming back to Jesus. I respect your denomination but I don't see eye to eye with Ms. White's teachings. There are a few SDAs on this forum and many non-SDA Sabbatarians.

View attachment 199349 Thank you for your welcome. I also do not see eye to eye with all the teachings of the SDA Church. However I do not know a single religion that has a monopoly on the truth of God. I do believe the Bible (Old & New Testaments) to be the Inspired Word God in whole. That is the reason I seek additional Bible dialog with believers beyond just Sabbath teachings of the SDA Church. Glad to be here as I am sure God blesses each according to his/her own faith for the benefit of His whole church World Wide.

My wife is a life-long SDA who is also a member of this site. Even though I was born and raised a Catholic I have attended many Sabbath services with her as well as the school before services. Due to my current work schedule I haven't been able to attend for the last couple years but hope to begin again soon. We read the quarterly study as part of our daily devotion of prayer, bible reading, quarterly study and a reading from a daily devotional. Glad to have you as part of our community.. Welcome to CC.

Thank you for the welcome Tourist. Our recent coming home to The SDA Church in part had to do with my sister in Law who was a devoted Catholic all her life until recently when she left the Catholic Church because of all the drama. She bounced off into another protestant church where she is also finding strange drama...So when we were deciding to go back to The SDA with my wife we decided to invite her to come also. So far so good. She liked it....One thing about the SDA is their steady teachings and for the most part lack of Drama. Happy to meet you and to be here...

I can understand your in and out of church as that was my route. I figured out that I really hadn't understood what salvation was and had been trying to be good enough or measure up to belong in heaven. I cried out to God in desperation and He explained what it was and I returned to my roots which had been SDA. Tourist is my husband and I currently go to our online church service as we only have one car.

Welcome to CC and welcome back to your current church home. We are studying the same lesson you mentioned today. I have enjoyed this quarterly so far and since there has been an issue between a cousin and myself this weeks lesson has hit close to home for me.

God bless you and your dear wife.
Many professing lovers of Jesus, Yeshua, are not aware the SDA has embraced the diety of Jesus Christ. This is a faction of the SDA, and I believe it is the majority. Anyway, as long as peoplelove Jesus as Savior and God, they are family. I love the Seventh Day for me, but I do not profess any f the sects of men other than the faith of Abraham as taught by Jesus to us all. All blessings and love in Jesus..

Today Thursday June 6 -Quarterly Topic: Forgiveness and Peace. I Love the feedback in this group so far. Great to meet you all. Here is a little testimony since we made the commitment to go back to Church last week. I have been scheduling some work at home on Saturdays with our trusted handyman who I have use for many projects at home. I am older now and can't do it all myself. His schedule is very tight, he works full time during the week, he is younger, knowledgeable and dependable, has a lovely family and does not charge me an arm an leg for the work he does. I really value our relationship and did not want to ask him to change his Saturday routine with us even as I wanted to go to Church on Saturdays with my wife. Today we had agreed to confirm he was able to come this Saturday, as I have to do some preliminary work ahead of his arrival. So with a heavy heart I sent him a text asking if he could confirm for Saturday. He text me back and asked if we could do it on Sunday because he did not have a babysitter for his children on Saturday. So I said of course better yet ! So I guess we will be going to church again Saturday with my wife and keep studying my quarterly. I am happy to report. The Lord is alive and well working with his people who seek him. It's a fact. Happy Thursday to all !

I don't think you should feel bad about asking for this nice fella to change his work day for you as God arranged the change for you this time. Looks like God is excited about your new commitment to Him and is helping you out.

I know one of the times I decided to go back to church I informed my workplace that I would like to have Saturdays off to go to church and they told me they would let me go if I insisted for the day off. I let them know that they would have to do what the felt best and I prayed about it and continued to go to church on Saturday. They did not let me go and I worked for them several years with Saturday off.

My cousin called today and we had a long chat and I think the air is cleared and I feel so good about our talk. We discussed how we need to love people no matter what they do to us, no matter how much they hurt us that we need to just love them like God loves us. Because sin is the thing that causes us all to be deficient in one area or another and as a Christian it is our job to love people no matter what just like God loved us even when we didn't love Him.

I said it is so hard to do we humans want justice and everything to be right and fair and fixed right now and we want to lash out at people who hurt us but the Bible tells us to pray for those who spitefully use you and if they hit you turn the other cheek it is so hard to do when we just want to get even. But God tells us to love them as He loves us.

I said to my cousin there will come a reckoning and someday everyone will have to answer for what they have done, but in the mean time we are instructed. Love them.

I need to rearrange my work schedule to get Saturday's off. I know that I have been saying that for over 2 years and for that I am sorry.

Happy Thursday to you as well. I am glad that things worked out with the handyman who asked to do the work on Sunday rather than Saturday.

My ex son-in-law, who is married to my daughter who went to heaven, is a SDA. He helped me bigtime once when my blood brother and sister said they couldn't. A local food/clothes bank run by SDA's have been here ever since I can remember. They all emanate true brotherly love.

I have and still occasionally fellowship with SDAs. I concur with many of their beliefs, the church I fellowship with is an offshoot of the Adventist Movement of 1844. I think Christianity, as a whole, is finding its way back to God's truths. Antichrist has had his way with Christianity since Constantine. The RCC has kept the world in darkness until the Renaissance. Then the Protestants protested, but not enough.

Many people call that a coincidence. We are not counted among them. Praise God for His constand care of each of us. Blessed be our Savior, Jesus, Yeshua, always, amen. All blessing to you and your cousin.

Happy Friday brethren: Today Jun 7th I am wrapping up some house work in the heat of the dessert here in Arizona with the help of my Son who I so much appreciate. One of the best lessons I ve learned this week since reading the quarterly and looking forward to Sabbath is the improved family focus instructions by the scriptures and the quarterly. Wish you all a happy spirit filled family life where ever you live as we get ready to Saturday. God Bless you all.
