Exactly, i agree. It does make it hard, almost a contradiction. Maybe we rather know their ideas and thoughts more than their specific identities. I do find value in being patient and observing patterns of consistency when determining the character of individuals. I suppose that is limited too.
One person asked me...how do you know if everyone here is a Christian, when you say things like love to all my brothers and sisters.

Just because I say love to my brothers and sisters, doesn't mean i think all the readers are brethren, that is why I said to... I was addressing my family in Him. I do realize we are to love all, but be partial to our family, right? Impartial, though, amongst family...?

I guess as usual I can see pluses and minuses. To appease my insatiable curiousity though, I prefer, in my ideal world, we would have real names and faces. In this virtual world though, we have no idea if "real" presented is "truly real", lol.

When I come up with a worthy new thread, will let you know. haha! I don't think I have my finger on the pulse of the singles forum quite yet, the thread I started might of got 1 or 2 replies. So, there goes that idea. You might be better off encouraging Pipp or Cindy to create new threads, since those generally drum up traffic.
One obstacle I see is finding chemistry, since everyone is from different locations, different ages, sects, and cultures. Finding common ground would be a great new thread. This one is free of charge of course.

If Facebook has been contributing to slowdowns on forums, that would probably only appear as a sort of pervasive and long-term effect, not something sudden or recent.
Facebook hasn't had recent upsurges, it's had recent losses.
Facebook has been losing market share in the U.S, especially in the younger demographics.
I think they're staying fairly steady in European markets.
Losing U.S. market share is such a problem that they've been intentionally targeting third world countries in order to make up their losses.
Facebook still has a lot of active users, but it's very much considered "yesterday's" platform.
As far as I'm concerned, it cannot possibly die fast enough.

I like tangents as they often lead to interesting places and situations. I will be happy to one day get off that hamster wheel because even though you may be running fast you are getting nowhere in particular. I get that coffee reference though. I am trying to wean myself off that stuff having drinking it for years from morning to night by imbibing Minute Maid Lemonade. It contains 3% lemon juice. I enjoy a Perrier bottled water beverage too. It's very fizzy. Guess I'm going off on a tangent of some sorts. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

Facebook isn't yesterday's forum, it is yesterday's social media platform.
The youth market is gravitating toward platforms that are more and more abbreviated.
They don't want to read much, and they don't want to write much, and whenever possible they just want to use pictures.
Since attention spans are getting shorter, they probably have a declining ability to read or write anything very long.
This isn't new.
It's been a trend for a while now.

Maybe text messaging and snap chat, or some derivative is the future?
I definitely see the smart house is the future, they want to stick a microchip in everything you own, which is scary.
Yeah circular thinking is relentless in its lack of destination, lol. I am currently on a mission to improve my logic and reason skills, hoping to train my mind to be more efficient and focused. It will require more thorough follow through, direction and listening. Eeks... I have much work to do!!! Time will tell, lol.
It is good that you are taking care of you. I can not express enough how beneficial water is. My clients call me their water pusher, lol. Tangents can be fun and free flowing, for sure. Like you, I am excited to see where these things, life and our journeys, take us.

1. Grammar:
When I talk about grammar, I'm not referring to the kind of rigid grammatical perfection expected by that Freshman English teacher we all hated. I'm just trying to say that some very basic, rudimentary understanding of grammar is needed in order to communicate in any human language.
We puts words together in certain orders because that is WHAT IS REQUIRED for them to make sense.
I'm encountering a lot of people without that rudimentary understanding.
2. Communication:
Also, we get better at most things by PRACTICING them.
If we don't ever practice good communication, we aren't going to be very good at it.
If all you do is text 3-word messages with an emoji, well, that's what you're going to get good at doing.
3. Tech
The tech genie is out of the bottle.
Nobody can put it back.
It's going to have all kinds of consequences... some of them will be bad.
It's just the way it's going to be.

It is kind of you to reach out to everyone and ask how they are doing. I used to be on here a fair bit and have just returned. I'm in an odd season too. I would like a companion but fall is a good time for having a lot to do. I have new homestay students, my writing guild starts up again and our church has a flurry of events after a quiet summer. I was able to do some traveling this summer which I thought was on hold for the foreseeable future and that was great. I am grateful for the life I have and am going to focus on creativity for my short term goal. I will try and avoid writing any dreary poetry but no promises, lol. I miss having a hand to hold but I will find the best in this season of my life. Thanks again.
