I would pray with you asking God for deliverance. I would say the fact that you are grieving over it is because your heart wants to do what’s right, and say no matter what, don’t give up. When you sin, take it to God, and keep believing and seeking God and his strength, stay in fellowship with brethren and seek out those who have had a similar struggle. and in time you WILL be delivered from this addiction

I would not question your salvation, because of the fact that you have godly sorrow about it
Now that is correct.

Yet I knew of no one who struggled with it.
Those I did seek out more or less said stop doing it.

I wont give the whole story.
I used to lead the youth ministry.
Stopped going to church.
But a new leader came to our church.
My wife was working in the church.

He asked about me.
My wife gave a bit of background (she didn't know my suicide thoughts) and did not tell him about my gambling but why I stopped going to church.
The new leader came to see me.

He just wanted say hello.
Every now and then he checked in.
Eventually I felt I could trust him.
He never condemned me, loved me where I was at and was willing to walk, talk as listen.

He never doubted I was saved.
He delved into the reason for the cause of the effect.
Then as @eternally-gratefull says and I agree the issues were healed.

They were a result of a shocking childhood and a shocking understanding of our Father in heaven.

Great news though.
I've been healed and now being used by God to walk with people with gambling addiction, suffered sexual abuse, rejected by a lone parent (my mother) and never knew their dad (the reverse could be said for the mother)

God has given me a passion and compassion for this.

@Rosemaryx

I am not a professional councelor, but here is my view on addiction/sin struggle among Christian

But they have to know they need change, which is why i spoke in black and white to those one who said you can fornicate without being a fornicator.

I get that...

I cannot explain in words , but I get that...

I do not practice drunkenness , but I fall , but the the MIGHTY HAND OF GOD lifts me up , I stumble , but my foundation is on the ROCK , my LORD Jesus , I thank You , my LORD my GOD , who called me before He made the foundations , NEVER will I fall back to my ole self willingly , for my LORD has given me feet to stand upon the ROCK , and wings like an eagle to fly , for my precious LORD is merciful who saved a dreadful sinner like me...xox...

Brother @BillG ...I was once someone who drank to get drunk , I would drink maybe three times a week...

Can I ask you something , if you put money in a slot machine ad gambled , would that still make you a gambler ?

I ask this in all honestesly , I was a drinker to get drunk , before I was saved , tonight I have fallen back to few bears , am I still a drunkard?

I am searching tonight , I do not want to be drunk , even after 5 bottles of bear , I am sober , I no longer have the urge to go out and buy more , am I still a drunkard?...

Tonight is my first night I have drank in 5 months...Praise God Almighty for His Son who saved a wretched sinner like me...xox...
If I gamble then I am a gambler.
If I drink then I'm a drinker.

We know Paul talks about drunkard's.
It does puzzle me as to what it means.
After all people can drink a lot and not get pissed.
Some drink one and are very merry indeed.

I think what it comes down to is what is the controlling factor.
You have had 5 bottles but you don't say what the ABV is.
Your not drunk.
Drinking controlled you but it doesn't now.
Yes you may have slipped up today.
But look at where you were and where you are now.

We could apply this to many things, smokers, gluttons, liars, stealers.

As belivers we do things that are not right.
I say we are children walking out the character of we are are in Jesus.

Would I say you are a drunkard?

Nope.
But we need to guard ourselves.

Amen , but some take longer than others...xox...
The fact is that it will take some longer than others.
God's timing is perfect.
He is perfect, he understands what needs to be dealt with to heal us.
In the meantime we need to learn to trust him.
Even when it's hard and we want what we struggle with just dealt with.
We need to be like Jacob at times.

I will not let go until I get this blessing.

Here you go rosemary. The strawman that continues to break the back

Dc, myself and others think it is ok to continue in sin, the accusation that keeps being spewed by someone who claims he does not teach works.

If you still have him on ignore you will not be able to see this,

I will not be able to see it after I post this post, i went to look for it since you said you never heard it, and amazingly it only took a minute
So where did I say you and DC said this? I didn’t. Struck out swinging. 🙂

Budman was the one who said we can sin all we want and still be saved. Exact words. Do you wAnt a link?

Your crusade to accuse a brother has hit a snag. So yeah, when I am called Bible twister, liar, deceiver, legalist, works salvationist, fruit inspector, idiot, etc I take exception.

@Bill g

Sorry to tag you again, but right here I was accused of a strawman. No strawman at all @Budman said that a Christian can sin all they want and even stop believing and @KJV1611 said a Christian can fornicate and not be a fornicator. If you want links, I can provide.

So what I said had been spoken was not a strawman, it was fact. I did not attribute it to DC or EG

So if no one has any further accusations, EG, I will drop the subject.

Thanks for the nice discission Rosemary and Bill.

Yes I DID, I do not agree with your Terminology definitions. Man is made up of Body, Soul, and Spirit, every man. The spirit was DEAD, due to the inherited SIN we got from ADAM. When the Holy Spirit came in, He the Holy Spirit Birthed our once dead Human Spirit, into Eternal Life. IT IS NOT A SEPARATE ENTITY, IT IS STILL PART OF THE HUMAN BEING. So if the BODY and the MIND of Flesh SINS, WE MUST CONFESS IT AND OWN UP TO IT AS A FAILURE ON OUR PART. You are trying to evade OWNING UP TO THE SIN YOU COMMIT or OMIT.
How about posting the verse that says we are spiritually dead before Christ and the verse that says Adam's spirit died also.

Don't use Genesis 2:17 as your proof because Adam DID DIE a physical death in the VERY SAME DAY that he ate of it.

2Pe_3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Gen_5:5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.

That is NOT SAYING WE ARE SINLESS, The NASB, ESV comes closer to what it really means. IT IS SAYING BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN WILL NOT CONTINUE TO HABITUALLY SIN, or PRACTICE Sinning (as in what you PRACTICE, you will get BETTER AT IT). YES, you need to own up to your sins ever time.
If God had meant that we would not continue in habitual sin, he would have said that we would not continue in habitual sin. He didn't say that, YOU DID.

If your cool with changing the bible to YOUR GOSPEL that's fine by me but you're preaching a FALSE GOSPEL.... How do I know this? BECAUSE YOU HAD TO CHANGE THE WORDS.

When someone has to put THEIR WORDS over GOD'S WORDS, then there's a problem. Houston we have a problem.

How about posting the verse that says we are spiritually dead before Christ
Eph 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

Continues on to describe the state before Christ. then what Christ did for us in the following verses!
