Scripture tells us to defend what believe and you sound like your throwing out evangelism. Not sure about Roman Catholic but idk what doctrine teaches to not evangelize.
I fully believe in evangelism, but not in browbeating unbeliever with the word. Our efforts should be defined as follows:

1 Peter 3:15 "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:"

I have had my fill of fellow missionaries trying to get unbelievers, walking by a street ministry, to say the sinners prayer. I never felt the Holy Spirit going along with that.

I think those that don't belive in God need to hear about God the most . I am not saying to beat them up with God's word but to plant the seed and then let their heart or God to lead them to what to do next with God's word . God commands us to go out in to the world and share His word . I myself would not want anyone going to hell because I left someone alone . Share then let go and it would be up to the person to do what they want to do with the planted seed .

So let me understand you correctly. Are you saying we should only speak to those that come our way?

You never felt is a feeling of you the one individual. Pastors during the great revivals went town to town preaching to unbelievers. Paul went town to town preaching and defending the Gospel to unbelievers. And often tried to kill him.

So I'm not seeing what your saying.

No, I am all for revivals and camp meetings. Those events are where people come out to hear the word. Ambushing an unbeliever, walking down the sidewalk, is not evangelism. Are you sure it was unbelievers or believers in another religion that sought Paul harm?

So I take it that as an intercity rescue mission type worker, you found that meeting the needs of that type of community, like with food and shelter, worked better than preaching in the street. That honey works better than vinegar? That in many cases the needy know they're needy and getting them in the doors to minister to them with love, works. That we should share with them more and at them less? If so I agree.

A Islamist is still a unbeliever regardless if they are of another religion.

And no not all revivals was like the Billy Graham stadiums. The first great awakening often was a man on horseback going up the coast from south to north and stopping on the cross roads and bust street corners to catch the crowds.

Yes, and you can get them to focus on Christ as apposed to getting high.

There are different types of evangelism and mission fields and they do not take from each other. Often rescue missions will have visiting pastors, evangelists and even musical groups from other nearby ministry's 2- 3 times a day depending on the community nearly always before dinner. Before dinner there is always a service but some times the mission's own pastor, chaplain and workers will pick up the mantle. As well as in house bible studies for the staff & beneficiaries at a set time daily too.

Believers in another religion by your own admittance above are nonbelievers. Therefore proving my statement that Paul did go door to door, town to town, city to city, preaching and defending the Gospel to unbelievers who many tried to kill him.

Proverbs 8:7-8 says, that every Word that God has ever spoken is in "Truth and in Righteousness." According to the gospel that Paul preached, "Righteousness is only awarded by God if our Faith is placed and maintained exclusively in Christ Jesus and the Finished Work of the Lamb of God at Calvary Cross (Rom. 4:5). Therefore, no man or woman can see, hear, or understand if "Righteousness is not awarded and will be operating from a make believe and pretend salvation that Jesus says that they may have a name but they are dead (Rev. 3:1). Everything they have and everything in their life will become a hinderance to them because of the "Law of sin and death." Confusion - conflict and death.

No, sorry, totally disagree. Many, many people have been saved during those very types of ministry that you speak of. William Booth and his wife spent their entire ministry on the streets. And they sent people out into the streets to do the same type of ministry. Not every sinner will come to your church door. Have spoken to people in parks and other public places doing that type of ministry and planted a seed. That is absolutely what evangelism is about and we need more, not less, of that. As far as "browbeating" people, people need to hear the truth. We are to be light and salt.

I understand the idea of what is being said here, but it's not entirely true. People are seeking "truth" and we have that truth. You'd be surprised how many people will listen when you begin to talk with them.If we make an assumption people don't want to hear the Gospel we'd all just sit in our churches and let the world pass by.
