I was the in home care giver aka lay nurse for both of my parents when the both passed away from different form of cancer 6 weeks apart 26 years ago. I can only emphasize. I think I understand the way you feel but they weren't my wife so it's not the same..

Good morning, morefaithrequired I love modern praise and worship music! I find it extremely uplifting, and being musically oriented I find myself singing the songs to myself often, even to the point where I wake up praising God with a song on my mind and heart. I did grow up in the RCC also, and a few of the older hymns still speak to me... I am glad you liked the ones I posted, any ways The Miracles song is a current fave I sing it to myself a lot, and have been thinking about your situation as I sing it, asking God for a miracle for your wife... actually, thanking Him for the miracle He will perform in healing her.

I believe your faith is real, as it manifests on here. We are lucky to have you on this forum.

Those of you who read the Bible everyday, do you consider that prayer?
By the way, I for one will not be judging anyone for not having a consistent daily prayer life. I'm hoping we can encourage each others to at least try more often.
A priest once told us this story. When he was in the seminary he encountered a difficult person. He prayed to God to remove him from his life. God answered his prayer and the difficult person quit the seminary. But then another difficult person arrived. So he prayed again. But this time the guy stayed. So finally he decided to ask God for the ability to handle difficult people. And that prayer was answered too but not immediately.
I find that story very encouraging. And try to use the wisdom learnt in it for my own life. Not always successfully of course.

Don't think that had anything to do with his ignorant prayer. If he was truly devoted he would have tried to help him.

For all financial, famliy and legal obsticles to be clared so I can go to Canada to be with the woman I love and either get involved with or start a new ministry. To the homeless, alcoholics/addicts and mentally ill, that are on the streets and dying every day..

What do you do when you have prayed all yor life, and your prayers never seem to be answered?

sometimes there are things in life we can't change and asking God to change us instead makes us better people and it also gives us peace within ourselves.

Early in my walk with the Lord, I would pray for boldness because I wanted to make a difference in the world, but as I grew spiritually, my prayers changed. Instead of asking God for boldness, I began to pray for an enlarged heart, and there came the boldness I longed for.

Love will make you bold. Love will make you tell someone the truth. Love will make you stand in front of a group of people you don’t know to share what God has given you to say. Love will cause you to lay hands on the sick and believe God to heal them. Love will cause you to feed the hungry and help someone in need. Is not this what Jesus did? We call them miracles, but all Jesus was doing was loving people. He was moved with compassion and it produced countless miracles.

So often we pray for boldness, but I believe God wants to enlarge our hearts and fill us with His love.

Say from your heart, “Father God, you are love and I want to be filled with you completely. Enlarge my heart and soften every hardened place. Change the temperature of my heart from cold and uncaring to blazing hot for you and others. Let your love make me bold. Use me for your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

I believe we need to pray and read the Bible everyday, not forgetting one without the other. When we don't pray we leave room for the enemy to intervene.
I'm not very good at prayer. I try to start my morning with prayer if not atleast after breakfast, along with a chapter from the bible a day. Sometimes I will read up to 5 chapters and read a devotional and maybe add a sermon or video from Youtube.
I try to pray once or twice a day (morning and night) while staying in constant communication with him through taughts.
I usually start by giving him recognition. That he is alpha and omega and how I am grateful for him and to him and that I love him because he is God and first loves us and sent his son to die on the cross for us. And for what he has done for me. I ask him to humble me and for a close relationship with him and for forgiveness of my sins and foolish ways. To help me die the daily death I need to die to be nearer to him (giving up myself to be more like him) that I would find favour in his sight that no iniquity would be found in me. For patience, understanding, courage and wisdom to get through and love and understanding of those around me. for protection against the evil one and enemies for myself and loved ones and for our guardian angels and his Holy spirit to surround about us. For him to open the eyes of all those around me that they may see him and know that he is God. And for whatever I might be struggling with at the moment. Then I close with, what I fail to ask please fail not to grant it, let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in the sight oh Lord, our strength and our redeemer, amen.

Well Im praying my wifes cancer is cured. But this is the 4th recurrence. Not sure they can operate this time. Risks involved. She has lived 6 years since the original diagnosis.

I am sorry to hear, I will keep you both in my prayers.

On CRA I have started posting daily meditations from Partners in Hope which is a Christ centered recovery group based in Canada. It's for people like us. Addiction is the most widely known and obvious mental illness. But PiH is not limited to it. Here the link>

I pray daily, which is talking to God. Bible reading is vital, and it has similarities and differences. We need both.

My dad is my favourite example of prayer being answered. My grandmother prayed for him for 53 years, till she died. I got saved a year before she died, and started praying for the salvation of my family. When my dad reached 82, he was dying in hospital of Congestive Heart Failure. My husband and I spoke to him, told him the gospel, and he wanted to repent of his sins! He was a totally changed man. 82 years solid of praying for his salvation. I kept praying for my family, and last fall, my sister got saved, Reformed style. It was something that was hard to believe, I spent 35 years witnessing to her, and never touched her heart. But God did! He gave her a heart of flesh. So that was 39 years of praying, and a lot of those years wanting to give up, because I thought her heart was the hardest stone I had ever seen. But God never gave up! Hallelujah

I like to sit in silence quite often. With a desire to drop ALL opinions, thoughts and words about God....and just let God be what he is, as he is. I find that if I approach God with a wall of words that doesn't do it for me; silence first and then words may come by themselves. Or quite often healing of all the tension of the day.

I too find that my prayer life took a turn when I decided to shut up and let God do the talking. I wonder how much pain in my life could have been avoided if I would have listened to what God wanted for my life instead of rambling on about what I wanted Him to do for me. I’m thankful I eventually figured it out. Some never may.

That's really nice. I might be in Toronto. I too hope to have the foundation someday for helping others who are broken, financially unstable or homeless and to be able to minister to others. But I myself am nowhere near my hopes and dreams. I am in a really rough situation financially and I find myself losing hope sometimes but I am still fighting by the grace of God.

You just made me think of something....i can pray at work I already have a reputation of being Mr. Religious around here, but its not the setting I like....still, when life hands you lemons etc.

and they also say, 'aspire to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands'

these aren't incompatible. this means, you can pray and work with your hands simultaneously. you don't have to be assuming some certain posture or lighting candles and burning incense in a special room, lol - if you can 'pray without ceasing' then you can pray no matter what else you are also doing; otherwise the instruction to be constant in prayer would imply doing no other thing but folding your hands and kneeling, eyes shut, your whole life. many of us are taught to pray this way, but it's not 'requirements or else it's not really prayer'

We shouldn't be taken for granted though he still wants to be asked, thanked and praised.
