Just been watching

JAmes and the Giant Peach
The BFG

I would recommend both. My next one is Matilda.

I also liked The Witches. If one of The Twits was ever made, I would be happy as that was one of my favourite books growing up.

I was raised on old films.

Arsenic and Old Lace
is my favorite. Almost anything done by Hitchcock when the kiddo is older. Some of his older movies are more kid-friendly.

Judging by her tastes, she'll probably enjoy Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Annie Get Your Gun, and Yankee Doodle Dandy.

For dancing flicks, try anything with Fred Astaire. Shall We Dance and Swing Time are a couple of greats.

Movies back then were true works of art. It's sad to see what Hollywood has become.

The Birds scared me for life. I watched Christmas in Connecticut for the first time on Friday, and we put our tree up last night and watched White Christmas. I would have loved to have seen the sets in person.

Annie Get Your Gun is also next on our list. Excited to see that one. Anything you can do I can do better. Haha.

A lot of good songs in that one. And Howard Keel was the man.

The Birds bored me to death. Hard to believe that was the same genius who gave us Vertigo and Rear Window.

Yes, that was a neat aspect of those films too. Even movies with lackluster stories had some neat visuals. No CGI

Matilda is now my favourite movie... although, I havent actually encountered any principal like Mrs Trunchbull who would hammerthrow her children by their pigtails.

But my high school dean WAS a body builder and I remember being scared of her.

You were not really a 90's kid if you didn't see Matilda 6 billion times.

It encouraged me to read Moby Dick too. Ended up liking it more than Matilda. Matilda doesn't have a guy wearing a whale's foreskin on his head, St. Elmo's Fire, or a dude with lots of tats. These things are important to boys.

Funny I found this book called

The parents' guide to kids' movies. Over 500 childrens and family films reviewed. By Jo Berry. It was at an op shop. Its actually pretty helpful

Cos I am Thinking of what movies to show the children at school come end of year. Its got movies based on books, animals movies, and movies from tots to teen dramas. And the ratings. It was published 2006 not sure if theres updated version but its pretty good for old movies

You can find a good book on practically anything if you search.

to be 'honest', our 'favorites' don't include (movies=vids ,games. and such), at this time of our lives -
our favorites theses days are all about Yeshua and His ways and means specified in His Holy Scriptures =
they give us the 'reality' of why we are here and what our personal duty and Love is, and how we are blessed
to share them with our Brethren...

The Cross
the arthur Blessit story, Ive just seen.

The other movies for children that Im recommending.

Paddington 2.
Back to the Secret Garden.
Shaun the sheep a new ones out called farmageddon

However going back to OP I really wouldnt approve of 2 year olds watching movies its best to read stories to them. And no way would I have them watch adult movies, I dont care what kind, they shouldnt be exposed to them at that age. I wouldnt even expose my own eyes to most of them.

I relly like the Paddington stories. I just watched one of the movies where he was framed and in prison. He iss quite a moving character. The others you mention, if they are as good, should be seen by all.

Yes that was Paddington 2 I saw it last night. Such a good movie. Love Paddington. Of course based on the picture book, as most good movies are (based on books I mean)

Little Women remake has come out, another classic. But read the book first folks.

Older movies are the BESSST. I grew up on Singin in the Rain, Funny Face, Holiday In, The Quiet Man, and lots of Doris Day.
If I could think about it I’d recommend some super obscure ones it would be Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, The Inspector General, the Court Jester, maybe the Thin Man series
Of those I've only seen Seven Brides for Seven Brothers because I liked the show of the same name. The movie was different. I was at the library recently though and recalled someone here had mentioned the name Doris Day. I'd never heard of her before this post, but I checked out and liked Pillow Talk and Lover Come Back so thanks ArtsieSteph :)

Not my favorite but I was in my 40's when I decided to watch a silent movie .. Charlie Chaplain ''the Gold Rush'' I think ... I was by myself and a couple scenes when they were in the cabin I was crying laughing, in the floor and it kept getting funnier .. I think I busted some blood vessels ..

Young Frankenstein was pretty good
Thunder Road 50's at the drive-in when I was about 4/5 twisted my brain a little, I liked it
Robinson Crusoe on Mars when I was a 60's kid stands out
Any 007 with Sean or Roger
Jaws was pretty good , back then
Texas Chainsaw Massacre , the original .. My wife and I were dating at the Drive-In, we took a bottle or two of Boones Farm and I'd never seen anything so freaky ..

Ten Commandments
The Robe
Ben Hur
Cleopatra
The Bible
