Open your Bible to the Matthew quote in the top line of my signature and tell me it is not true, if you dare.

If you try to waffle your way round it, there are plenty more scriptures that tell us we can lose our salvation.
Stop attacking people and start listening to them, it would be of great benefit to you

The gospel I share is the gospel of Acts 2. So if you judge this you are judging the apostles, so get your facts straight.
What is the difference between the gospel of Acts 2 and the gospel of Romans 1:16 and 1 Corinthians 15:1-4?
Do you "add" water baptism to the gospel?

I can derail it right now.... received an emergency alert on my phone at 7:00 am of an incident at nuclear power plant 35 km away.

They say no radioactive leak....I hope they are telling the truth.
Considering all the false gospels shared in this thread I have no doubt you can overcome any amount of radioactive leakage.

The false gospels that I typically hear are:

We are "initially saved by faith, not works, but salvation is maintained by works."
We are saved by faith + works and salvation is maintained by works.
We are saved by faith + "these" works and just not "those" works.
We are saved by "grace plus law, faith plus works."

Umm dead faith is not mere belief....but we have had this conversation how many times..
Lol
Dead faith is dead. No life, not living.

it can’t save, because it never had life.

thats WHY there was no works (remember these people were going to church and evidently held position in the church, James called this no works..

I struggled with this verse for years. Because I could never explain it to workers for in a way which made sense. saying a person can be saved with zero works just does not jive with scripture. There will be some works, even in a babe.

Matthew 10;28 and if you want to know who it is we need to fear see James 4:12.
niether of these prove you’re point,

the speak of those who are able to judge, (god alone) and those who are able to lead people astray to a false gospel which will destroy their soul

Demons acknowledge Jesus for who He is but don’t love Him or have faith in Him.
Yep

same as who CLAIMED to have faith but had no works, hence had a DEAD faith(the faith of demons)

James was claiming those who have mere beliefe are no better than demons who also had mere belief. They are no more shamed than them

he is not talking about losing salvation

he is talking about impostors who never had salvation

they only CLAIM to have faith,

he is speaking against a licentious gospel. People who claim they have faith in God and are saved, but never had true saving faith proved by the fact they never had shown ANY work that a person of true faith WILL show.

true believer will not be hearers only and not doers, they may not all be super christian, but some part of their life will change, it has to because they were made new creatures

Dead faith is no faith. It is subtle talk like that caused Adam and Eve to disobey God. The warnings against losing faith are given to people who have faith. Do you think the apostles are going to be warning people of no faith about losing their faith. That would be sheer stupidity.

Agree...plus this is a question posed to James as a challenge...not his words.
James was posing a question of test your faith to see if it is real or if you just believe, if you believe that is good, even demons believe

the 1st few chapters of James is James telling his readers to test their own faith

James did not say they lost it, he said they never had it

learn to read! No place in James 2 did he mention people lost faith!

Amen! The demons believe "mental assent" that "their is one God," (James 2:19) but they do not believe in/have faith in Jesus Christ for salvation. (Acts 16:31; Ephesians 2:8)

I have to get to church I will just say this

a person who has no works is like a person who continues to live in sin, they show no changed life. They live (even in the church) like the world does, always promoting self, no love, selfish, working for gain, not for service.

john tells us these people have never seen or known God,

paul says those saved by faith will do works

james Is just staying a fact, if you claim to have faith, but do not have the works paul said you will have, or the change in life John said you will have (works) your faith is dead, unable to save. powerless
