In the flood "death" revealing unbelief in the heart of mankind came to a end . A picture of the last day. A covenant before the flood and one after . With a promise the next time the end of corruption. A new earth made of new incorruptible rudiments .
Do you have trouble tracking the gist of the conversation? We're talking about Jesus' words to His disciples. Let's stay on track.

Zechariah 14:12 King James Version (KJV)
12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the Lord will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.
Before the flood?

I would think literally where there is smoke there is smoke. And where there is fire there is fire. And when there is smoke and fire, there are both.

Fire like faith the spark of belief must come first or the work of smoking cannot be finished. Just like a dead body without a spirit. No fire, no fireworks or smoke to follow. The Wow. . did you see the lollapalooza !

I think it is the kind of proverb that is a parable that describes a dead place. Described by unclean birds used in ceremonial law to represent unredeemed mankind as flesh eaters, that each eat others flesh . Those who walk by sight after the temporal what the eyes see and not the faith that comes from understanding the parables( when a parable is applied) to them they are parables without meaning. . They might even say parables are not prophecy.

I would suggest it has the kind of idea to let the dead bury the dead . The flash of lighting from east to west had come .Its the last day.
Jesus is saying "where you have a carcass ,you automatically have vultures."

Enter the human reasoning
.

"Oh wow they are taken to a place of vultures and dead bodies"

But nothing like that was said.

So then the next wild jump;
"The ones taken have to be wicked"

Wrong starting place

Except he framed the one taken/left in a preflood setting.

So that idea is not plauseable

It is a proverb. Not a place
Like "where there is smoke there is fire"
I missed this some how... sorry. Check out the wording in those verses.

Jesus is talking to the disciples and he tells them "Two men will be in the field, on will be TAKEN, and the other one left. The disciples respond with "Where are they taken Lord?" And Jesus ANSWERED them and said "They will be taken to the dead body". Paraphrasing to draw attention to what I'm trying to show.

Luk 17:36 Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Luk 17:37 And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.

It may be like a proverb in that the meaning is slightly obscured or hidden, but it is a direct answer to the question "Where are they taken Lord".

It's up to us to figure out what the proverb means, but we are looking for something related to a dead body.

Luk 17:37 And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.

The bible tells us where the ones taken were taken.
This is where the KJV is the better choice, body (the living) not carcass and the eagles not vultures.

this could be a reference to
The invasion of Israel by foreign armies.
The appearance of angels on earth in the sight of men.

There’s word play here in that eagles was used differently depending on context like below speaks of before and after, Matthew before the tribulation and Luke after. when carcase is used of the dead and the body of the living.

"For wheresoever the carcase is,
there will the eagles be gathered together."
(Matthew 24:28, KJV)

"And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord?
And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is,
thither will the eagles be gathered together."
(Luke 17:37, KJV)

"Here a little there a little". That's the way this passage has to be handled.

Mat 24:28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

Luk 17:36 Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Luk 17:37 And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.

Using what is given in Matthew and combining it with what is given in Luke, we know that the eagles in Matthew are "the ones taken" in Luke.

Using what we are given in Luke and combining that with what were are given in Matthew, we know that the body is a dead body (carcase).

Here a little there a little. Line upon line precept upon precept reveals the truth of the who the eagles were and where they were taken.

The only wicked slain as I understand it at the second coming with the church is the army of the antichrist.
Possibly some others.

But not a slaying worldwide as with the flood.
Good day absolutely!

Just fyi, every person who is not a believer in Christ and who makes it alive through the entire tribulation period, will be gathered by the angels (one taken) and will be killed by the double-edged sword that proceeds from the Lord's mouth, which is symbolically representing the word of God. To be clear, everyone who has worshiped the beast and received his mark will be killed at the Lord's return. None of the wicked will enter into the millennial kingdom. It will be Israel and the survivors of the great tribulation saints who will enter into and repopulate the earth during the millennial kingdom.

================================================================
Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and he cried out in a loud voice to all the birds flying overhead, “Come, gather together for the great supper of God, so that you may eat the flesh of kings and commanders and mighty men, of horses and riders, of all men slave and free, small and great.

"But the beast was captured along with the false prophet, who on its behalf had performed signs deceiving those who had the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. Both the beast and the false prophet were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. And the rest were killed with the sword that proceeded from the mouth of the One seated on the horse.
==================================================================

All men slave and free, small and great who are killed and their flesh eaten by the birds, will be in-part all of those of the "one taken" group. The others who are killed will be those kings, their generals and armies who will be gathered at Armageddon.

In Luke's version, when Jesus says, "one will be taken and the other left," the disciples ask "where, Lord," i.e. where are they going to be taken. And the Lord responds with "wherever there is a carcass (dead body) there will the vultures/birds be gathered. In saying this, Jesus was referring to the event of when that angel calls all the birds together to eat the flesh of those people who are killed by the double-edged sword, as mentioned in Rev.19:17-18. Revelation 19:11-21 is a detailed account of when the Lord returns to the earth to end the age and establish His millennial kingdom.

The "one taken" are gathered and taken by the angels to the area of Armageddon and then killed, where the birds will eat their flesh.

well I think in Matthew 24 states the carcasses are during the tribulation period because it’s mentioned as such hence 29
Matthew 24
26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. 27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. 29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

here is talking about after the sun is darkened in that night This is because the dead have already risen by Luke 17:37

34 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. 35 Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 36 Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 37 And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together." (Luke 17:34-37)

here’s another place eagle is used differently this one below is of invaders
Hosea 8:1
Set the trumpet to your mouth! He shall come like an eagle against the house of the LORD, Because they have transgressed My covenant And rebelled against My law.

They are taken to Him. Taken to heaven.

They really can not be wicked.
It is not plausable to have every wicked person on the planet removed ,and half the population stay, prior to the flood.
Jesus never said WHERE they are taken.

But it fits perfectly the next few sentences. The wise are taken, the foolish left.
Almost in the same thought we have a 50/50 taken of the righteous vs (others)

Just being honest here, no offense intended, but you need the eagle to be some thing future so rather than taking the scripture at face value, you're not accepting that Luke tells us specifically that the eagleS (plural) are the one's taken.

Again I'm not attacking your views or trying to be confrontational but the way I see it, your preconceived ideas of how the "end time" goes down is clouding your view of what those verses are actually saying. In your view of the "end times", those verses CAN NOT be talking about the dead body of Christ.

There is no inference as I see it to any such wickedness of those taken.

here’s what I read from that site, seems plausible.

The "eagles" in Matthew 24:28

"24 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. 25Behold, I have told you before. 29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other." (Matthew 24:23-31)

These eagles could refer to angels who will accompany the "dead in Christ" who "shall rise first" at the sounding of "the trump of God" (1 Thessalonians 4:16). From the context, we see that this event (verse 28) occurs before the sounding of the trumpet which prompts the angels to gather the elect from the earth (verse 31). Since the trumpet has not been blown yet, the saints who have died are still dead - hence they are still "carcases" (Prior to 1750, "carcase" could have referred to a human corpse (Online Etymology Dictionary)). Also, this verse about the gathering of eagles immediately follows our Lord's caution that his second coming will be a ubiquitous event (verse 27). If the gathering of eagles refers to the ubiquitous appearance of angels on earth, then verse 28 flows most naturally from verse 27. In conclusion, these eagles could refer to angels who are on stand-by while they wait for the dead saints to rise.

The "eagles" in Luke 17:37

"34 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.

Whereas the eagles in Matthew 24:28 gather around carcases, the eagles in Luke 17:37 gather around living bodies. This is because the dead have already risen by Luke 17:37. Verse 37 in Luke immediately follows the description of the rapture of believers (verses 34-36). If the rapture had occurred, then the dead have already risen because Paul says, "the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air" (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). Whereas the description of the rapture in Luke occurs before the gathering of eagles, the description of the rapture in Matthew (verses 40-41) occurs after the verse about the gathering of eagles (verse 28). When we carefully examine the context of the verses in question, we begin to understand why one verse says "carcase" while the other says "body."
Conclusion

This article shows that the KJV reading of "eagles" in the end-times prophecies can be interpreted in several ways because of the rich imagery of eagles throughout the Bible. Thus replacing "eagles" with "vultures" could deprive the true meaning of the text. This is not to say that "vultures" is wrong as an interpretation, but it is important to be able to see that other interpretations exist. The KJV, with its commitment to formal equivalency in translation, translates "αετοι" literally and provides the reader with the opportunity to come to his own informed interpretation.
