This stuff cracks me up, can u imagine the callers face, hahaha? What is amazing is that naive ppl fall for stuff.Why, of course! That sounds just like someone from America's IRS!

There is a sad downside. People who fall for it because they're mentally challenged.
My aunt is in the mid stages of Alzheimer's. My cousin has had to intercede for her after she wrote checks for bills she did not owe due to scammers mailing her bills. Now, he lives with her so as to intercept her home phone from calls like this. She misplaced her cell phone last year and it has yet to be found. Battery dead, there's no chance she'll get a call that way because the service was also cancelled by my cousin. We got a call today on our cell. Oh, how wonderful! Zero percent interest on our MasterCard. Press 1 now to take advantage of this offer.
So I do, so I can tell them not to call anymore. And this after the recording said, due to our outstanding credit history and paying our current MasterCard on time we're now entitled to this outstanding offer!
One small point. We don't have a MasterCard.
We don't have any credit cards.So I press 1 and this guy, who sounded much like the caller in the video with the police officer, answered and right away I said, I'd like you to put our number on your don't call list please.
"You don't want zero percent on your MasterCard?"
I had to educate him about that and then made the request again.
Interestingly enough, and we found this works, because these callers are all in foreign countries, if you use foul language in telling them not to call you again, they do stop. When the first request of mine doesn't work, I hand the phone over to hubby. He's good at that second prong of the attack.
Funny, that's how we know cursing them out works. They're not use to that kind of language. And when they don't really know English that well and all of our , shall I say, colorful expletives, they apparently become confused and flag us because they're scared.
I use to work with a guy who got a call for the umpteenth time from the same company offering a home warranty, again. He asked the caller/scammers name, wrote it down and addressed him by that before he said anything further. Which all culminated in his telling the caller the call was being recorded. That the caller had telephoned an agent with the American Department of Homeland Security, and on his official cell phone that was issued him by our government. And after the call completed, the company calling, which he'd gotten the name of also, and Mr.so and so, were going to be investigated and their fraud pursued by relevant federal agencies for fraud against citizens of our Homeland.

There are channels on YT that focus solely on scammers. Some are pretty funny. Some videos have been sad, actually.
I feel that it's safe to say that everyone can be scammed at least once.
When it's something believable like low interest cards (not 0% interest) when someone is already paying 5% and really wants to get out of debt, going down to 2% sounds appealing. Especially when the number is made to look like a bank or what have you.
They do hound you though. It didn't happen to me, although I think they tried to spoof my Step-dad's number in order to get my mother to sign up for something. They didn't stop all day.
It's not a nice feeling to be "taken in" for anyone.

I'm not in the best place and just feel sort of stuck. Hopefully with spring coming on something will fall into place. I've been jumping around to a bunch of churches but just more closed doors unfortunately.

Most of these companies are out of the country and have no idea. I change it up call after call.

My name is lissted in the phone book here. There are house breakers who will call numbers with foreign sounding names to see if anyone is home. Since many people have dtheir second homes here there are a lot of absentee owners finding their homes hve been burglarized upon return.
I believe I have received a few calls from people just wanting to know if there is anyone here. I moved here in2012 and a still get an occasional call for Miss Bienvenida. Smoetimes the caller just lets me ask who is theree a few times then hangs up.
I answer my pone is Spanish and I get someone asking for Miss Bienvenida. That is Miss Welcome fully translated… So sometimes sI answer in another language just to see what the response will be...…….I am always here so, no problem with a breakin yet. My place when seen does not invite a desire to break in I do not thing so anyways, lol

I am curious how you know they are trying to find out if you are home? Oh wait never mind. I re-read it. That is soooo concerning...ugh@them, especially ppl who steal.
Cool that you speak different languages as that is a very creative tactic with those calls.
That is a weird thing to happen. I'm thinking everyone from our phone service, TV, all sell our contact information. I know the states sell everything citizens register with them as far as contact information. And many of those scammer calls come up on my CID as a persons name and local phone number. But when I answer they're clearly in a different country.
Google sells peoples contact information. I have a friend who has a website that shows on their search engine. At least once a month he gets a bogus call telling him if he doesn't respond that listing could fall off the search sites. Google knows about this but does nothing. I think it is because Google gave them the contact information and that's why these buyers think they can claim they're with Google. All about the money.
