Where was the Lord and what was He doing those three days and three nights before ascending to His Father? Here is my view.

1. Jesus died (on Wednesday 3pm)
2. He rent the veil in the temple from top to bottom, entered the holy of holies and offered His blood, closing the OT and beginning the new.
3. He went to hell to deposit the sins of the world into the fire, preached to the spirits in prison, and got the keys to hell and death.
4. He walked across the great gulf to Abraham’s bosom (Jesus can walk on water) where He met the thief that same day, before 6pm, in Abraham’s bosom which was paradise. Meanwhile, His body was placed in the tomb at 6pm or thereabouts.
6. He resurrected after 6pm Saturday (which would be Sunday), showed himself to Mary early that morning, and ascended to heaven with the captives. Later that same day, He revealed himself to the disciples.

Sorry. This is incorrect. Christ went to Hades, not Hell (Gehenna, the Lake of Fire). And He did not need to deposit the sins of the world anywhere. He took the full penalty for all sins in Himself, and also took away the sin of the world at the cross.

"The keys to hell and death" should read the keys to Hades and Death. That is metaphorical since what it means is that Christ took all the OT saints from their "prison" in Hades to Heaven, and because of His resurrection, the resurrection and glorification of the saints in guaranteed,

What colour is the sky in your world, and are there butterflies?

This looks like speculation upon speculation, except for "Jesus died", "showed Himself to Mary" and "He revealed himself (sic) to the disciples". By the way, 6 PM Saturday is 6 PM Saturday, not Sunday. Don't confuse Saturday with Sabbath; they aren't the same thing.

Hell is the living suffering of mankind the wage of death .The wrath of God being revealed from heaven to everyone.

Hell the living suffering will be cast into the judgement of God the letter of the law (death) And together they will not rise ever again and condemn to death a entire creation .)All living things corrupted ).

No suffering after death. One appointment not limbo between purgatory (but dead no breath of life. ) and then comes the execution the letter of law death made to no effect. No more suffering.

Romans 8:21-23 King James Version (KJV)
Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

Hi John. We need to remember that all those who died before our Lord walked the earth never had a chance to know or see His salvation message, they never got the chance to "believe upon Him." We, of course, have His Word, and our faith is either there, or not. Therefore, Now that He ascended, what is it but that He also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same that also ascended up far above all heavens, that He might fill all things. Ephesians 4:9 That had to be a busy three and a half days.

It is written in the epistles, Galatians I believe, that Abraham was the first to receive the Gospel.

Anyone before our Savior who was guided by the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God was led by Jesus......….

The way I interpret the Bible is Jesus went to the cross, took the sins of the world upon Him, shed His blood to wash away those sins, and died, laid down those sins, and went to conquer death, and hell or hades, which He has the keys to death and hell for he conquered both, and to deliver the saints from death, and hell.

Rose from the grave in which He had not ascended to heaven yet to put the blood on the mercy seat which is why He told Mary not to touch Him yet for He had not ascended to the Father, and told Mary to go tell the disciples He had risen.

Then ascended to the Father and put the blood on the mercy seat making the New Testament come in to affect.

Then came back and showed Himself to the disciples which Thomas said he will not believe the Lord is risen until he sees the prints in his hands, and put his finger in the print of the nail, and thrust his hand in to His side, which then Jesus allowed Thomas to touch Him for He already put the blood on the mercy seat, and Thomas touched him and knew He had risen and said my Lord, and my God.

Concerning the veil being torn in two it stated that it happened while Jesus was on the cross in the physical temple.

But it seems like it must apply spiritually but that probably is covered when Jesus resurrected to heaven which Jesus said no man had entered heaven before and He is the first one, and then applied the blood to the mercy seat, so entering the Holy Of Holies is entering in to heaven where the mercy seat it at.

Then Jesus showed Himself for 40 days after that to the disciples, and then on the Mount of Olives while speaking to them He ascended to heaven and the disciples were told that He would descend the same way as He ascended which Jesus will fight the world standing on the Mount of Olives and defeat them at the battle of Armageddon for all nations shall be gathered together against Jerusalem so they are all in one area.

Then at the day of Pentecost the Spirit was made available to the people and to be added to the Church.

Which the Old Testament saints arose to be with the Lord for there is no reason for their soul to stay on earth when Jesus arose and He conquered death and hell so they can access to heaven.

And all saints who die shall be with the Lord for to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, which the Bible says there are souls under the altar that ask Jesus when He will avenge them, and He said when all the saints are with Him which the resurrection will be all the saints with Him.

Which they probably have not received their glorified body yet, which may be why the Bible says their souls are under the altar, and at the resurrection when it says the dead shall rise first may mean that the saints that are with Jesus will receive their glorified body at that time, and then those which are alive shall be caught up to meet them where they receive their glorified body.

For the saints that have died in the Lord are with the Lord, so their soul cannot be in the grave so the dead shall rise first must mean they receive a glorified body first.

You should know being a semi-KJV guy, that the KJV makes a distinct difference between hell and the lake of fire. Hell is correct as the KJV defines it.

I believe he fulfilled the scripture in Leviticus 16 as the scapegoat carried the sins of the people into the wilderness. Hell is depicted as the wilderness.

This is the traditional view and I may agree. The only problem I have with this view is the OT saints being resurrected by the Lord and taken to heaven before the Lord offered His blood upon the mercy seat. I’m still pondering this. What say ye?

Did he ascend, offer his blood and come back down and set the captives free?

Sin is a spirit.

Rom 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

If Jesus took our sins then He took the spirits of sin from us, and my guess is, He didn't keep them.
No, I'm pretty sure those spirits went into His flesh or physical body, and when it died, so went all the spirits to Hades, even as the wicked souls are sent to the same place.
His body had to die because His flesh was made sin, and sin is what kills the body.

2Co 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Just wondering here, but is this how you define what took place, or is this being preached to others and you picked it up along the way?

That’s the way I see it playing out in Scripture.

It's not my position to back you or to go against you. But I do wonder in time, (years from now) if you will still have the same views. When I first read the entire Bible I thought to myself I know it all. The second, third, 4th, etc.. etc... times reading, I thought back and discovered I did not know squat hahahahaha

Yes, I agree. I think the OT sacrificial system helps with our understanding of the d,b,r of Jesus and what exactly occurred. Btw, I’ve read through a couple dozens times now and learn things that change my views all the time. It keeps me coming back.

This is why I am not interjecting my thoughts here this moment. Who knows, a year from now, next Easter season, you could make a thread that is completely different. I love it when God teaches me, He is much easier on me than others who call themselves Believers :)

Sin is a spirit.
If you start off with a FALSE PREMISE you will end up with a false conclusion.

Sin is not a spirit but a transgression against God. And there are three major groups of transgressions: (1) the lust of the flesh, (2) the lust of the eyes, and (3) the pride of life. And the pride of life and all sins associated with it are sins of the spirit.

I do not believe Jesus entered the earthly holy of holies to offer His blood.

I believe the significance of the veil in the temple being torn from top to bottom is that the earthly tabernacle was ready to vanish away.

Interestingly enough, at the time that Jesus' flesh died (His "veil" "rent"), the veil in the temple was rent from top to bottom.

Hebrews 9:

8 The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:

9 Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;

10 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.

11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;

...

23 It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true ...

You should know being a semi-KJV guy, that the KJV makes a distinct difference between hell and the lake of fire. Hell is correct as the KJV defines it
Unfortunately, the KJV translators applied the English word "hell" to THREE different places: (1) Sheol/Hades which is in the lower parts of the earth as the place of departed spirits, (2) Gehenna which is the Lake of Fire and the actual eternal Hell, and (3) Tartarus, the subterranean prison for the angels which kept not their first estate.

So let me show you where they called Sheol/Hades "hell" which led to a lot of confusion.

For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell [SHEOL]; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. (Psalm 16:10)
Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell [HADES], neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. (Acts 2:27)

As a result a lot of people believe that Christ "descended into Hell", when He actually descended into Hades. But since He had cried IT IS FINISHED He went to the spirits in prison to proclaim (translated as preached) His victory over sin, death, the grave, Hell, Hades, Satan, and all his evil spirits. He had already paid the full penalty to sin as both the Lamb of God and the Scapegoat.

It’s all hell. Period. Hell in the KJV is never referred to as the lake of fire. Prison is hell, one and the same. Hell has bars and gates, thus Jesus has the keys to both hell and death.
