Hello and welcome to CC...
"Easter" as a word is an anglicization of the ancient middle-Eastern word "Ishtar" which is the name of a false god. "Easter" as a holiday is the remembrance of Jesus' death on the cross and resurrection from the dead. It is the fulfillment of the ancient Israelite "Passover" which is discussed in Exodus 11-12.

Easter is supposed to be about the resurrection of Jesus but the world made it about a glorified bunny who I am certain stole all those eggs he hides as bunnies do not lay eggs.

Easter IS NOT ABOUT THE RESURRECTION!!! There is a short passage about the days of unleavened bread and the Jewish feast of Nisan, but this refers to the Passover of the death angel in Egypt. The CONTEXT, is about James being killed by Herod with the sword and Peter arrested and put in prison. The spring planting season celebration, of which the goddess Edstre, or Easter, was also honored at the same time. Someone, or some people, connected the Passover in Egypt, many years before, to the feast of Nisan, (the days of unleavened bread), to Jesus resurrection, and then tacked on the festival goddess Easter, became Jesus resurrection title. This severe error has been perpetrated throughout the years and is a black eye to the church. Read it: Acts 12: 1-4.

Since you wanted an answer, you got the right one. Easter is all about the resurrection of Christ. If you want to call it Resurrection Day, that's OK too. But the majority of Christians have connected Easter with the Resurrection, and no amount of nay saying will change that. All the rest of the nonsense can be safely ignored.

BTW you might want to ask the moderators to change the title of your thread from "Tantalon" to "Easter Denial".

From what I have managed to glean, Easter is derived from a Germanic goddess, Oestra (sp), the goddess of fertelity, ergo the custom of eggs at that time included in the celebration of Passover, or the Sacrifiec of the Lamb of God.

I do not discount the connection to Istar the name of Esther,, the savior of the people of Israel during the carrying away. Man has messed up history in so many ways, thus we must rely on the Holy Spirit for all truth.

To believe the name, Easter is just fine and dandy is a long way from saying I will not even take the names of false gods on my lips, but what do I know.? I just believe the Word.

PS: Please do not bring up th enames of months o days of the week, for all Biblical foretelling my source of time will always be the Lunar Calendar employed in the Bible.

Yes that is very true, When I was doing my studies on the actual origins of easter I came across this and it even showed the ritual of festivities in great detail, quite disgusting stuff really not sure I can ever think about sex the same way again.

If you had all this already, why did you ask what Easter was? Now, concerning the Easter celebration, you are either kinda late, or really, really early...................

Quite an eye opener to what people believe isn't it? There are two events that are of utmost importance to us as believers. One is the BIRTH of the saviour of the world, the other is His RESURRECTION. The first event is obscured by Santa Clause and all the pagan trappings, and the resurrection, by the goddess of spring celebrations and added bunnies eggs etc. If Christians would read the words and what they are saying, this "Easter stuff would never have gotten off the ground.

Easter is a joke. It is a pagan sham and the Catholics prove this more so by their Lent Season, Fat Tuesday (Glutton Day), Ash Wednesday (represents the Burial of Christ), and eating of No Meat on Fridays.

I would much rather still hold "Passover" than to participate in the sham that Easter has become.

Easter is a time to eat candy until you puke, and enjoy massive amounts of food until you vomit, and drink great quantities of alcohol until you pass out, but years ago they also added go to Church, but not so much now.

That is if you are of the world, and going to Church on Easter and Christmas and not any other time was like Adam and Eve sewing fig leaves to hide their shame, but God said not so and fully clothed them, or they want to please other people mainly their parents.

Easter to some people that claim Christ is to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, and also to eat candy until you puke, and enjoy massive amounts of food until you vomit, and drink great quantities of alcohol until you pass out, and there is less of a chance they will go to Church, but at least they are not being hypocritical and not going to please other people.

And then some people celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, and go to Church, not so much candy if any, eat a fairly amount of food, and do not drink alcohol, or maybe a little.

So what do you want, door number 1, door number 2, or door number 3.

It is the same with Christmas for the pagans will work themselves in to the things the Christians celebrate to cause less attention to the Christians ways, and will put the Christians celebrations on their pagan holidays to show all people have a core truth.

The same as America allowing all religions to be practiced in their nation, even Satanism, the occult, and the new age religion that shall deceive the world to follow the New Age Christ.

All the while saying they are a Christian nation, but they are an occult nation that allows Christianity to be there, and the leaders now have abandoned God, and the Lord Jesus years ago, and if they say they follow God they are lying for they are following evolution now, and people are still evolving.

Like a song that is played on the piano, and the people say it is truth, and then change one note and let that play for a while, and the people say it is truth, and then change another note and let that play for a while, and the people say it is truth, until it becomes a whole new song, and the people say it it truth.

The new age movement interpretation of the Bible that shall come out at the latter times, and the time will come the world will want to hear the Bible according to the new age movement for the New Age Christ will push it before he claims to be God.

Also stores want to glorify Christmas and Easter persuading them to buy, buy, buy, especially to cater to the children like the McDonald's playhouse although McDonald's is like the crappiest of the fast food places, and their concept of Christmas and Easter in the world is crappy.

For what the world produces is crap which caters more to their selfishness, and greediness, for they sell crap for money costing them less, and rip people off, and gyp people, even the very people that made them rich.

It is about Jesus, and He will never rip us off for He gave us eternal life, and the benefits to share in the love, peace, and joy of the Spirit, and will not change it to now we only get 2000 years of spiritual life, and only peace, love, and joy on every 2nd Tuesday, and will not cheat us like the world that gives less quantity, reduced quality, and higher prices as time goes on.
