The virus has a 5 to 14 day incubation period, so the tactic in the beginning was to institute a 2 week nationwide quarantine to stop this thing in its tracks. Two months later, it became evident that the lock down didn't worked. You can run, but you cannot hide. Herd immunity seems to be the course of action now. if keeping yourself under house arrest for 2 months did not erase covid-19, odds are that another 2 months won't make a difference either. What it would do however, is cause an economic collapse, keep 30 million unemployed, cause financial ruin to many businesses, and turn the US into a third world country.. jmo

The church was not really shut down. The church was deployed. We got out of our patterns of behaviour and and needed to spend time praying and praising, having individual time with God and our families. I do not think it was a bad thing for people to try harder to connect and not be consumers. I know that corporate worship is important, please don't misunderstand that, but more important is our one on one time with God. Can we have both? Of course but the business of the modern world often squeezes out those moments and we can fool ourselves that sitting somewhere for an hour or two is having a relationship with Jesus (once again not making a blanket statement for all people).
The church during the plague is often blamed on rats but the biggest vector for the spread was people gathering together in the church (history major with a specialty on this time period and reformation).
In this time we have been given an opportunity to show God's love and concern for our neighbours. We have had to work harder to gather through livestreaming our services, being part of prayer groups, online groups, making phone calls and praying with our families. God is still in charge. The church is not the building nor will it ever be. I say that as a form of praise to God. We have a chance to make a difference in our communities and show the love of Christ. Let us be the love of Christ. That is unstoppable.

and you got the numbers you quote from media or other source ?
in the end , if some one dies as we open up, remember it may be one of us not wearing a mask that is without symptons that passed the virus onto another, who passed it on to another etc, until if finally ends up in a weakened immunity person like the elderly or sick. Diabetics are one of the highest risk, could be any age.
So if we all willing to be that person that spreads it , then go ahead, wear no mask, dont wash your hands, get close to people.
But as christians, and that what this site it. I would hope we do all we can to protect others. not be focused on our "rights" but focused on doing right .

and how about all the suicides? how about all the addictions getting worse? how about people losing their homes? how about those raked with debt? how many divorces will occur ? the majority of divorces here in america take place because of financial difficulties .

The truth is most people lack resilience and are unable and are unprepared to face the slightest adversity.

I saw this on the news yesterday. Missouri is my home state and I've been to the Lake of the Ozarks numerous times. When I was a kid, Osage Beach was very family oriented, but these days it's just one big party! I wonder how long it will be before they say the number of coronavirus cases have spiked and they try to send us into another lockdown.

here in America, these past 3 days, thousands and thousands of people went to the beach, went to a lake, had a pool party, had a bar b que. came in close contact with each other.
so, over the next 15-20 days there should be ( if the " experts " are close to being correct) a uptick in positive test results.

Since you are questioning the ulterior motives of the doctors who signed the letter what are the ulterior motives of Doctors Fauci and Birx who are the chief medical advisers to the president? Perhaps they enjoy being front and center on stage every afternoon for the whole world to see. Maybe it makes them feel like a rock star. Regardless of their motivation what is stated in the letter regarding the detrimental effects of the lockdown are happening right now and will continue to manifest itself in the months and years to come.

The letter was written by Dr. Simone Gold, an emergency medicine specialist in Los Angeles. “We are frustrated,” Gold said in an interview with Fox News Thursday, telling “America’s Newsroom” that “there are thousands and thousands of stories of patient harm” from the lockdown. In the letter, Gold compared the situation to triage.
“During a mass casualty incident, victims are immediately triaged to black, red, yellow, or green. The first group, triage level black, includes those who require too many resources to save during a mass crisis,” she wrote in the Tuesday letter. “The red group has severe injuries that are survivable with treatment, the yellow group has serious injuries that are not immediately life threatening, and the green group has minor injuries.” The red group, she wrote, is the one that gets the most attention.
Do you think the coronavirus lockdowns will end up costing more lives than they save? “Millions of Americans are already at triage level red. The millions of casualties of a continued shutdown will be hiding in plain sight, but they will be called alcoholism, homelessness, suicide, heart attack, stroke, or kidney failure. In youths it will be called financial instability, unemployment, despair, drug addiction, unplanned pregnancies, poverty, and abuse,” Gold wrote.

And, so, they avoid mammograms, they avoid cat scans, they avoid colonoscopies … Then in two years we’re hit with this massive wave of patients that are all at a later stage of essentially incurable cancers.”

Instead, it’s caused people to put off necessary medical care, either because of fears of the disease or because that care simply isn’t available. Make no mistake: This is a crisis. It’s already too late to stop the deaths of despair and neglect of health that this will cause. The question now is how deep it goes.
