We know the written word documented and proven. It produces faith in those who understand it. And Paul says it thoroughly furnishes us. This leaves no room for vibes and hallucinations to take on meaning.
Since God is a Spirit as noted in John 4:24 mankind is to worship Him in spirit and in truth. Those indwelt with the Spirit of God do hear His voice as the scripture below confirms:

"God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." John 4:24

"Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come." John 16:13

Where does any of this say God speaks audibly using words? You want it to say that, but where does it actually say that? Jesus is the word of God and he speaks to us through the bible since it replaced tongues and prophecy.

Psychos "hear" God speaking. God speaks through his word only.

“NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, And a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105 (KJV 1900)

Love will always cause you to make the right choice.
The scriptures are God speaking. Crazy people assume they hear God speaking.

It says in spirit and in truth is the written word a spirit? and is the truth ink and paper only? If you do not wish to consult in hearing his voice other than his written word that is fine but just because you do not agree or understand about hearing him in other ways is no reason to call people crazy

I like the fact that a single piece of truth (gotten from God in prayer) can be used in multiple locations to shed light on things.

I'll repost what God showed me because it disproves the fallacy of what you said in the last portion of your quoted reply (the part I made bold).

If the words that ended up in the bible are the "That which is perfect" which was needing to come...and they fulfilled that role the very moment they were spoken or written into existence... then there was ZERO need for some group of men 300 years later to say "Hey, I don't think that what God has provided is good enough. I think we need to create a book so people don't have to ASK God to teach them how to discern truth for themselves. They won't need to go to God. They can just go to our book! They won't need to ask God to lead them. They can rely solely on our book! They won't have to actually hear God and let the Holy Ghost lead them and guide them into all truth...they can just limit the scope of their answers to those things we've allowed into our book! Then the king, (not God) that appointed us will, be pleased." .

Not true and not supported by scripture. People receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit when they become saved by grace through faith. It is not a secondary thing but the primary event in ones salvation.

Consider the actual truth whether one receives the Holy Ghost the moment they believe: "Have ye received the Holy Ghost SINCE ye believed?" (Acts 19) No need for Paul to ask this question if one received the Holy Ghost the moment they believed.

Also, Jesus said to pray for it. Why? if one gets it the moment they believe there is no need to pray for it. (Luke 11:13)

They were casting demons out before Pentecost. Anyone can do it in Jesus' name. Even those Jesus tells to depart, he never knew them.
Using the name of Jesus is not what in and of itself is required to cast out demons. One must be an actual child of God. This truth is seen in the following recorded event:

"Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.
And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.
And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?
And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded." Acts 19:13-16

Jesus' statement in Matthew 7:21-23 makes it clear that many will be shocked to realize they were NEVER known of Jesus; they were never born again. This truth is seen in the succeeding scriptures concerning the importance of laying a proper foundation.

Matt 7:24-27
"Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it."

I hear God speaking from time to time.

It scared me the first time.

Now I wish I heard Him more often.

Most of what God has spoken to me has been actual scripture. But I didn't know it was actual scripture until God spoke it and then I looked it up...

Most people believe the same as you. That God doesn't speak and those who say He Does are psycho or have some sort of psychological issue.

But scripture, which you DO BELIEVE, explicitly says that My Sheep Hear My Voice. So I don't really understand why people who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ don't believe that He Speaks to His People.
He speaks loud and clear, I hear his voice very often. Parables , scripture, stories, sharing scenarios, you just have to have the empty mind to hear him. I have not been involved in organised religion, all my learning has come from prayer and the Holy Spirit, heck, I havent even read the bible cover to cover.

Acts 19 those men had heard and believed John's message of the coming Messiah. They had not as yet received Jesus as the Christ of Whom John spoke.

Luke 13 Jesus is speaking of the future fulfillment of Joel 2.

You should ask these things at home.

"But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord."

Some have no clue just who/what they are. We know God will never go against our will. Believe it or not really doesn't matter but when I was praying one time.. I said "why don't you just save everyone no matter what they say" Something to that effect.. the answer....One of the few times He came right back with "Don't ever say that again". Going against mans will.. He will NEVER do.

So you say things about the holy Spirit as in gifts are gone or God can't speak.. things like that. Then you will never see those things. He just goes to someone else that will believe. Thats what He looks for "here I am lord use me". See much of what we say is nothing more then what we personally believe and then we look to His word to back up what WE believe to be true. Is that how it works?

Speaks all the time.. always talking.

Paul is saying that the OT is only a part of the revelation God is giving. OT prophecy was telling of the Messiah and doing so in shadowy forms. Paul is saying that the NT now reveals Christ openly and completes what was in part in the OT.

Only three gifts are passed away. The one that is coveted is tongues and it is the one that causes most of the problems. James warned of the tongue and the damage it could do. Tongues in the OT are a sign of judgment. Think of the tower of Babel. Think how the Jews saw and heard tongues. Tongues they could not understand when they were carried away into captivity as Gods judgment against them.

Far too many today want to pray in tongues which is completely unheard of in the bible except Paul uses the expression as hyperbole to the Corinthians. You cannot get two tongues believers to give you the same definition of tongues. They cannot accurately describe them from the bible. Jesus never spoke in tongues. Apart from a witness to the Jews in Acts and a corrective address in Corinthians little is said about tongues. Today you would think the bible said little else.

God has valued His word above the whole earth. It's completion was given that men might come to a saving knowledge of Christ. We are to take the word of God and go forth to evangelize a lost and dying world.

For the cause of Christ

Tongues are the healing of languages, what happened at babel was not speaking in tongues but confusion of the languages until that time all spoke the same language,

Where does the bible say it replaced tongues and prophecy?
It says so a few times. One is here.
“How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?” Hebrews 2:3–4 (KJV 1900)

Notice the past tense. How many times can you find any of the gifts available in Acts? They only came through the two outpourings or through an Apostle's hands. As Hebrews says, they confirmed an Apostle's calling.

You need to be careful. Satan and demons have full access to your mind. It's only by the written word we identify and rule over them.

Most people are honest enough to admit that they are (or at least were) "blind". In other words, we admit that we didn't know God, or had difficulty understanding what is really being said in the bible. And although perhaps embarrassed, we were humble enough to receive instruction from someone who is willing to guide us.

Then, at some point, we met someone who said "Hey, you need to know about God (or Jesus). Let me teach you."

And we said "Ok. That sounds good." And we began to let them lead us, or perhaps to take us to someone even more knowledgeable. And they began to teach us how to "see" certain scriptures.

However, there is a danger hidden within this scenario, and Jesus warns us about it. He said "If the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch".

The question becomes "Wow, that's a scary thought. How could I find out if the person that leads me is blind?"

Well, you could ask the person leading you how to recognize a "blind leader". And I almost guarantee that they will give you an answer that does not point at him or herself as a blind leader.

What most will do is to point you to the scriptures to find the answers....encouraging you to revisit the scriptures they've told you are the most important ones... and that they've been teaching you how to interpret. Please don't miss the importance of the previous sentence. They know what you will find if you look at the scriptures the way they have taught you.

Now you're left with a problem.... How can you know the TRUTH if you may have been taught to "see" by the blind?

If you look at the scriptures by the way you were taught, you will only find the answers you’ve been taught to find...“Seeing” the scriptures through the eyes of your leaders, whether they are blind or not.

If you try to look at the scriptures without what you’ve been taught, you’re only left with yourself...and you’ve already admitted that you were blind before learning from your leaders.

So what should you do about this problem?

Simple… When we can’t “see” and don’t know who to trust, we need to directly ask the only person we can truly trust (God) until he answers.

God cannot lie. And he will only speak truth...even about your leaders. If they are blind leaders, God would tell that truth to you if you ever gain the ability to hear from God directly...and THAT is the reason you are told that God no longer speaks.

Does God speak? Yes. He says “My sheep hear my voice”. And he cannot lie. <--that means he still speaks and at least some still hear..

So... Have you heard his voice? If not, you should be asking sincerely why not, and how you can. But I recommend that you ask the one you can trust, not the ones you should have asked about before trusting them with your eternity. (You need to go to God, not man...not even me, if you REALLY want to know the truth.)

BTW, Just because you can’t see clearly doesn’t mean you can’t hear. :)

Love in Jesus,
Kelby

“He that hath an ear, let him hear.”
God has not spoken to any person for 2000 years. He has already said everything He wanted to say and no more will be given to us in this life.
The canon of Scripture was closed when Jesus gave His revelation to John.

God's Word is alive and eternal, so we have the same gospel message as those in the first century. God's Word speaks to every believer, so in that sense He does still speak but only to believers.

We must be very careful with those who claim to have conversations with God, because Satan appears as an angel of light to deceive people.

If God did still speak to us, than Jesus would have told us that. But He said "it is finished", so if anyone needs to add to His finished work or looks for new revelation then they're being deceived by Demons.

Jesus didn't reveal everything in the last book of the Bible, He actually instructed John not to record everything that He revealed because we're not ready to handle the whole truth of revelation yet. Believers will be given a lot more revelation in the life to come.

As for correctly interpreting Scripture, that's not important at all. God doesn't judge anyone by their mental capacity, to interpret scriptures. The vast majority of saved people never read a single word of the Bible, we are saved by believing in Jesus and nothing else can be added to that.

Jesus said, "believe in Me and ye shall be saved" He never attached any conditions to it. If He said believe in me and if you crack the code of scripture and ye shall be saved, then we'd be looking at a different gospel.
